What I did today.

Anno - you don't snore!
Snowing here and snow is sticking. I go into seige mode as winter approaches and my fridge, freezer and cupboards are bulging with food, so I needn't go out all week, if necessary.
My joints and muscles are still aching from my marathon eight hour walk on Tuesday and the long journey home on Wednesday, so I am being kind to myself.
I have just got six new books from Amazon, I have a hard jigsaw on the go, Radio 4 and TV, plus the internet, so a duvet day is no hardship.
I hope you are all looking after yourselves and trying to take it easy this weekend. (I am jealous of the twin gds, though!)

Made the cake for a certain celebration in December today!! Just taken it out of the oven!! Hope it's cooked ok!!

My birthday? How kind of you

Cold....hoar frost this morning and the leaves are falling fast, almost ankle deep around here. I like scrunching through leaves, but when it rains and they get soggy...is it a sign that you're old when you see soggy leaves as a threat?

Jeni is it your birthday? If so, I hope that it is a HAPPY one.

On 3dec. I'll be 68

jeni A very fine age, if I may say so. My late papa's birthday was Dec 2nd. Many good people are born in December. Nellie's birthday is on the 29th.

My favourite sort of bad weather Saturday afternoon - I have made 1 large Lancashire Hotpot, 1 big pot of red cabbage and 1 pork and onion casserole, all of them simmering away in the oven so I don't need to cook again for days!

Thick snow outside now and still whirling - very picturesque on the forest opposite my flat, but I wish I had run out and put the cover on the car when it first started. Now I will have to clean it off when I want to go out (might not go out for a week, though, as I have stocked up with food).

I've just put a beautiful (if I say so myself!) meat pie in the oven for my son,who is 39 tomorrow. They are having a Halloweeny party tonight so I thought I'd save him cooking tomorrow. He loves my pies so he'll be chuffed!

I'm now ready for bed!

I've had a lovely, quiet day just getting some shopping in and pottering about. It was much needed after an exhausting week. Last weekend DD and I took baby and toddler to Ireland to visit their GreatGrandma (my mother), we won't be doing that again in a hurry, huge queues at security and very unhelpful airline staff!

Glad to be catching up with everyone here again

I have put the day to use getting some C shopping online, ohhh I love not having to go to the shops, I have sat with a cup of coffee in the warm and managed to sort quite a few presents out

Just back from an archery day at Polmont. Very good coaching. I think I've made an improvement to my archery posture. I was one of only two barebow archers there and my scores were better than many of the recurve shooters (sometimes called Olympic Recurve), so that was encouraging. Have put my name down for two tournaments – one in November and one in January. The ages of the archers today ranged from a boy of about eight or nine, through teenagers, to people in their seventies. It's a very inclusive sort of activity and very friendly .

Zorsted now and enjoying a large and (well, flapjack), then off to catchup on gransnet.

I have just got back from taking DGD1 to see a local amateur (but good!) production of A Midsummer Night's Dream, her first taste of Shakespeare! She seemed to enjoy it and laughed a lot at the dramatic death of Pyramus!

It's just the sort of day for jimjams in front of the fire here too. Just closed all the curtains and about to make ginger beef (Gok's version) to have with egg fried rice (bought at Waitrose, on offer!!) on a tray, in front of the fire, watching Strictly with or as soon as DH gets home from the football - they won

I have a lovely vision of us all hunkering down in the warm with our coffee, tea, G & T, or wine, and preparing for a good night's viewing! Cheers, ladies (and gents).

we done very little really today but are going brave elements to pop round corner to our social club with friends, they have a singer booked.

Dear OH went to get my boots been re soled and heeled as they are so comfy, cost more than they did I reckon!! look good tho.

I stayed in warm!! oh did mess around and do order calendar with hilight pics from the year and some xmas cards (not sure if allowed to mention that word yet??!

Finally finished unpacking the odds and ends from hol also and cooked nice lunch Trout, cauli cheese, and new pots. lovely but do not like bones in fish!! I swallowed one and was ok but horrid feeling!!

I get the feeling that the last thing any of us would welcome right now would be a surprise invitation out!! Saturday night IN has to beat going out any time!!
However....before I get too complacent, DH has taken to his bed with a temperature it's creeping up - so not dramatic, yet, but if it starts spiking it could be blues and twos again. Fingers and everything else crossed.

Went for a lovely sunny but freezing walk with a friend in the morning. Wrapped up C presents ready to take down to the family in the car next week. I am flying to London at Christmas so won't be able to manage them all. I loathe wrapping presents and I now have a sore back from bending over all afternoon. I think someone should invent cellotape that doesn't attach itself to all my fingers, the present and the table at the same time . Just eaten spag bol with a friend but she has now gone home to watch Merlin; think it's time for a bath...........

Visited a very good exhibition of paintings put on by Friends of the Samaritans, at Baslow village hall, then a walk through Chatsworth Park - lovely day, stunning trees - bit too cold to stand and stare for long though!

Bought a new cd player. Am getting quite good at this technical stuff and was able to connect it to the amp and speaker. Sound is fantastic which makes me wonder if the old cd player had been on it's way out for a while. My son did point out that it was probably one of the first cd players ever made. Shall take the old player to bits to see what they look like inside . Now going to watch Shutter Island and hope I can stay awake for the whole film as I've got a stinking cold and feel quite lousy. Fell asleep watching the excellent Jools Holland programme that was on BBC4 last night so hope it's on iplayer.

Just watched that programme on Catch-up, crimson, and it was really very good!
