"Today I've been is full" So I have started What I did Today, as I have something to be a granny bore with.

Today I became a gran for real. DD had my 1st GC 8 days after due date. Several days of twinges and a bad night.
DD rang me at 12;15 today.Just seen midwife at clinic, 3cm and waiting for the taxi to hospital. 5pm I had a phone call, baby had arrived at at 3:30 pm. That is 3 to 10cm in 3hrs! Noah Alexander ***. 6lb 11ozs. Forceps as baby was tiring but amazingly quick DD and SIL surprised by the speed. DD tired and sore but says she is totally in love. I am visiting tomorrow 60 miles away. What a day smile smile smile smile

Another kindred spirit here! But unlike Marelli and Grannylin, I HATE spiders, I`m terrified of them!

Marelli Fri 12-Oct-12 20:45:54

I'm Miss Havisham minus the wedding-dress, crimson! I don't notice the dust much, really! It's ok as long as I don't move anything about - and as there are so many things cluttered on shelves, there isn't much room to move them anyway! My friends buy me little cards etc that say things like 'the house was clean yesterday - sorry you missed it', or you can touch the dust, but please don't write in it'....so yes, you've found your kindred spirit! grin

I was going to mention Denman. He's got a sort of diary in Horse and Hound. The girl who's got him as a hunter [and possible team chaser] used to have another of P N's retired chasers who sadly died a while back, so PN has sent Denman to her. He's living in a field with two pals and looks happy as a sandboy. Learning to jump walls and walk through stinging nettles [which he didn't like at first]. I wish I could do link thingys. It's wonderful to see him so happy.Chepstow is probably my least favourite track, because you can't get close to the pre parade ring or the fences [they changed it a few years ago; it was better before they did, I believe]. Nipper will have a wonderful retirement. I used to chat to the girl who used to [probably still does] look after Azertiup [sp], so I bet he's with him and Noland. The S.O. was telling me today that they're going to pull down the old stands at Cheltenham [the one where the Queen Mum used to be]. I've always wanted to see inside it. I'm sure there should be a preservation order put on it; it's a travesty imo.

I like spiders too, but didn't fancy spending the evening with one!
Crimson No. 2 son says there's a good card at Chepstow tomorrow and that Neptune Collonges will probably be parading.
I'm hoping to go to Wincanton on Thursday (IF I have got everything ready for my sister's visit on Friday.... some hope!)
Again they are promising a parade of West Country Champs ( Hoping P.N. will allow K.S. and Denman out to play!)

Marelli; must point out that I once told a group of people on another forum that Miss Havisham was my role model....I'm not too good at housework [I do it but the house never looks any cleaner even though there's usually only me in it so I must be the one creating all the mess]. I sensed a possible kindred spirit...

Spent a lot of time on the phone to Indian call centres trying to find out why I can't get any incoming calls since I switched to TALKTALK'. Yes TALKTALK; this is the bad publicity I threatened you with angry!

I don't mind sharing my home with spiders, either. My dog, however, has other ideas! She seeks them out and pounces on them till they give up the ghost and expire. Then, she looks at me triumphantly and wanders off with her tail at full mast to look for another victim! grin

crimson Fri 12-Oct-12 19:53:36

Another Miss Havisham?

Marelli Fri 12-Oct-12 19:51:45

I'm very fond of spiders and have no problem with sharing my home with them! They traipse through the dust quite happily. grin

Grannylin Fri 12-Oct-12 19:51:21

Ipad idiot. Send your spiders to me, I love them all.

Greatnan Fri 12-Oct-12 19:49:27

I noticed how beautiful the spiders' webs looked on the fence this morning, all glistening with rain.

Grannylin Fri 12-Oct-12 19:49:00

Send you spiders to me , I love the allsmile

annodomini Fri 12-Oct-12 19:44:39

I was admiring the intricacy of a spider's web on the outside of my bathroom window. It's not often I get such a close-up, albeit through glass. I wonder if it belonged to the huge specimen I evicted from my bath the other day.

Greatnan Fri 12-Oct-12 19:43:39

Thanks for the news about Soop, Bags - how that woman worries us! smile

I had a lovely day - took the train to Neuchatel and had lunch in a creperie with four interesting women - two English, one Peruvian and one Canadian - whom I met through Juragran.

Oldgreymare Fri 12-Oct-12 19:33:52

Phew, thank goodness for that, I was getting rather worried.
Wish I were a poikilotherm! grin

Marelli Fri 12-Oct-12 19:33:40

Thanks for that, Bags - I was quite concerned! I had this picture of ogm carrying the spider out on the end of her ruler (having measured it first)! I can imagine the ruler bending with the weight of the spider dangling on its web...grin

crimson Fri 12-Oct-12 19:33:30

Do they antifreeze like sharks'n'things?

Bags Fri 12-Oct-12 19:24:35

.....He says they don't. They don't need to because they are poikilotherms (summat like that anyroad) and are 'happy' at whatever the ambient temperature is.

So you don't need to worry, ogm grin

Bags Fri 12-Oct-12 19:22:41

Bags is now wondering how spiders keep warm. Will ask DH....

annodomini Fri 12-Oct-12 19:21:27

I saw the footage of flooding in Fife, Gally and Marelli - not quite in your coastal area, but you must have been having a lot of rain. [umbrella emoticon]. Hope for a decent weekend!

Oldgreymare Fri 12-Oct-12 19:17:12

P.S. Just caught a spider 8 cms across! Sadly now outside in the cold!

Marelli Fri 12-Oct-12 19:17:10

Here's to Soop! wine
Grannylin - my bread will be like that the next time, for sure. It tasted lovely but did actually look like a big cow-pat.....which did spoil it a bit...confused!

Oldgreymare Fri 12-Oct-12 19:05:19

Spent a lovely morning learning about the Newlyn School, then lunch with a friend, just about to open some Prosecco as it's far to late to start anything worthwhile.
Will raise a glass to Soop as she is happy and hopeful! smile
Marelli and one to you for being a brave girl smile

gracesmum Fri 12-Oct-12 19:04:05

I think some people have had a lovely day - that is so nice to read. Hope you all have a lovely weekend too!

Grannylin Fri 12-Oct-12 19:02:17

Marelli grin.I made some bread this week, without a machine and it tastes like concrete birdseed but I making myself eat it.
