Shuffles off muttering to self!

annodomini Sun 18-Nov-12 13:40:59

The h-emoticons were for Halloween, jeni. Never mind I am sure that if all goes well, they will soon be wearing Santa hats. smile If you want us to harangue Cari on the subject when she comes to our NW get-together, we will certainly have a go. wink

jeni Sun 18-Nov-12 14:02:48

I know, but they left that one. I thought of it as a 'cheeky ' smile!

Ana Sun 18-Nov-12 14:04:14

Yes - how mean of them to remove it! confused

kittylester Sun 18-Nov-12 15:12:15

I spotted that jeni

I'm ironing and packing (when I'm not here, obviously) ready to go to the Peak District for a few days. I've already packed the two book presents from gransnet, so maybe I'll just lounge around all day in my dressing gown watching the birds through the window, drinking hot chocolate and reading. smile

annodomini Sun 18-Nov-12 16:15:01

I have started my Christmas shopping. DiL emailed a suggestion for GCs' presents which I proceeded to search for on line. After many blind alleys, I found just what they wanted at a reasonable price. Ordered! Two younger GC to think about now. Already knee deep in Lego, so that's out. Youngest is obsessed with Star Wars!

isthisallthereis Sun 18-Nov-12 17:36:38

Sorry to rain on the parade, but felt rubbish all day with a chest infection and general thick head. Gave up at about mid-day, retired to bed and have slept most of the afternoon. Lots of glasses of water, occasional Paracetemol, some easy supper, that's the plan. Feel much better for sleep and staying wrapped up warm, but have missed church this evening. Boo!

annodomini Sun 18-Nov-12 17:55:33

Sorry to hear that, isthis. Sleep and warmth are great healers! Look after yourself.
I had a little trawl round the garden centre. African violets half price, so two for £3.50. I wonder if I can make them last. My mother was a genius with house plants but I usually have the kiss of death. She even managed to propagate them from leaf cuttings whereas I just went and bought a new one.

janeainsworth Sun 18-Nov-12 18:04:24

Hope you are feeling better soon isthis and celeb.
Just got home from a fab weekend in Cheshire, went to a school reunion dinner with two very dear friends. We left school 45 years ago - and of course don't look a day over 32.

Marelli Sun 18-Nov-12 18:18:47

celeb and isthis - I hope both of you soon feel better. flowers.

Smoluski Sun 18-Nov-12 18:28:37

isthisallthereis Sun 18-Nov-12 18:54:25

annodomini far more of my houseplants survive now that I hardly ever water them! I think I drowned most of the old ones. Water rarely and only when a finger pushed into the compost up to yr first finger joint detects no moisture. But every couple of months do feed them. I just add about half a teaspoon of liquid seaweed extract to the water, they seem to love it!

celebgran Mon 19-Nov-12 11:15:22

thank you kind ladies, hope isthis is feeling better today also, I have washed my hair is a start!!

celebgran Mon 19-Nov-12 11:16:52

jainsworth sounds like great reunion, my son kindly told me I dont look anywhere near my age, and I have hung on to that compliment for grim death!! gosh must be 42 years since I left school what a lifetime ago!!

janeainsworth Mon 19-Nov-12 18:19:16

Thank you Celeb, it was. Something quite special about being with friends you have known nearly all your life, and worth the effort of keeping in touch even though we live a long way away from each other.
Today I have been inexcusably lazy and apart from changing the sheets and spending too much time on GN, have achieved nothing.
[shameful emoticon]
thought Now I am retired I can do that sort of thingsmile

annodomini Mon 19-Nov-12 18:43:54

'isthis' - thanks for the tips. I do know that African violets like cold tea, but probably not every day.
