number - next time your DH wants you to serve him a cuppa or his dinner, tell him your painful shoulder hurts too much.....it won't 'hurt' him to take you for your hospital appointment angry!

Your post made me smile, isthis. Glad you had a good day.

I missed my bus home from a lunchtime meeting yesterday. An hour to wait for the next one so I just set off walking in the smirr. Did 7km (about a third of the way) before I stopped at a bus stop for the next bus to take me the rest of the way round the loch. For several of those km I could see my house smiling at me only 3km away straight across the loch. Love elusive Scotland! smile

My trip to Colchester went brilliantly. Despite seven hours on trains to get there and back. Only decided to do it the day before, on a sudden mad impulse! All went like clockwork and I had a seat reservation waiting for me on every train. My friend's painting exhibition was excellent, with many sold. At good prices too. I reckon my friend and I met very nearly 50 years ago. Though we only meet up once every 15 years or so, it was well worth the effort.

Sometimes little things make my day. On the way home, I asked the young buffet attendant on the train if I could have a glass of water to take some tablets. He looked at me, said "Go on then!" and handed me a free small bottle of mineral water, no charge. Only a tiny thing, but it didn't half make me feel good about people.

Was back in Leicester for 10pm, called in at the nearby Sainsbury Extra for some yellow sticker food (hardly ever buy fullprice stuff now, overpriced horrors that UK supermarkets are!) and was tucked up in bed with the electric blanket on by 11pm. Excellent day. smile

numberplease that all sounds very annoying. I have an appointment with my GP to review my high blood pressure. I bought a little BP monitor online but he's forbidden me from taking my BP too often, as doing so can increase my BP!

20 mins before my GP appointment there's an attempt at a flashmob record in the park nearby. Local worthies have been challenged to do something "out of their comfort zone" to raise serious money for two charities, the much loved local hospice LOROS and prostate cancer. So the new Vice-Chancellor of De Montfort Uni has come up with the idea of a world record flash mob attempt in a local park to dance & lip-sync to "Holding out for a Hero" by Bonnie Raitt. Everyone who joins in is asked to donate at least £1. I'll give it a go, at least for 20 mins! www.dmu.ac.uk/about-dmu/news/2012/november/breakfast-dj-calls-for-dmu-heroes.aspx

Today I went to the doctor`s to get the results of the 24 hour BP monitor that I had on the other week. Saw a doctor I`d never seen before, think she was one of those temporary ones. She asked me what she could do for me, I said why I was there, and she said, "it`s in the system somewhere, but we seem to have lost it!" So all that inconvenience and no sleep for nothing. Then she took my BP again and it was still too high. Then she listened to my heart, despite my having had the health check a few weeks ago, then she wanted to look in my eyes, put the light out, then found the batteries had run out in the light thingy and had to go look for some more, leaving me sitting in the dark! And as my frozen shoulder has been giving me hell for over a week, I asked if I could have the injections for it again, but she replied that she didn`t inject shoulders, I`d have to see one of the other doctors. Then, although I`ve been diagnosed before, and given the injections, by 2 different doctors, she decided that it might not be frozen shoulder, but maybe arthritis or Pyralgia (sp), so now I have to trail down to the hospital for an x-ray, which hasn`t pleased hubby, as he has to take me. All in all, I thought I was going to be in there for about 5 minutes, I was in for about a half hour!

nanadog sunshine
Today I have done......not a lot! Kept taking the tablets, slept, read a bit (woolly brain, no concentration), drank a lot (no, not that kind of drinking......only water and occasionally tea) and generally enjoyed doing very little. Now feeling slightly better as pain is almost gone and my temperature seems to be returning to normal. I shall be fit for the wedding on Saturday. grin

Ana Tue 06-Nov-12 22:35:11

Oh I think I've been there. One film that breaks my heart is Tarka the Otter; I can't bear to watch the end, although I believe the author only agreed to the film being made if it was faithfull to the book..he did want it Disneyfied [or, in the present day, Spielberged].

I had the privilege of working for the Otter Trust in Cornwall several years ago. It is now the Tamar Otter and Wildlife Centre offers a wonderful day out for the whole family if you are ever in the area.

I once felt really good because I got a great photograph of an otter in a canal in Brittany - until I brought it home and someone told me it was a mink! It is a good pic though!

Marelli Tue 06-Nov-12 21:22:11

What a privilege, NfkDumpling! smile

Today I'm dead chuffed because, while out walking my mother's dog, I saw an otter. Not just a glimpse of a head in the water, he came out onto the track about ten yards in front of us, sniffed around for a bit, than wandered off around the corner. The dog was as flabbergasted as I was. Well, as a bold brave Staffordshire Bull Terrier, she hid behind me.
