Vampire Queen - I understand exactly what you mean. I am not sure whether the highs are more frightening or the lows. It is horrific for children to live with a mother who is bi-polar and not on medication.

I don't lack a sense of humour. I just don't feel that bipolar has any amusing aspects. You wouldn't laugh at someone who is obviously ill but it's ok to find Mental Health (MH) issues amusing.

I suggest if you think bipolar is amusing you try to live with it. Try to live with lows that make you want to kill yourself. Try to live with highs that make you so out of control you spend every penny you have plus run up debts or make you take part in risky behaviours because you can't see how dangerous they are. Or imagine being the spouse/partner of a person with bipolar. You worry when they are low because you're never sure if you'll find them dead. You worry when they're high because they're so out of control and never sleep.

If you seriously think that's funny please explain it to me because I can't see the joke.

I think it's a clever design and I'd like to think, that if I were bi-polar I would still have enough humour to be able to wear it!

Actually, while laying in bed a little while ago, I realised what I would do with the t shirt if someone did give it to me. DD is very good at framing celeb type t- shirts and making quirky pictures out of them. So I would get her to that with it and then hang it near my pc so I would see it and hopefully feel slightly lifted when GN gets a bit too heavy!

Bags - your instincts were right and I also thought it would be better to ignore the OP, but I am fed up with being told that if I don't share somebody's sense of humour it must mean that I have none. I also do not appreciate any of us being told to 'lighten up', or 'chill', which I find extremely condescending.

I do not lack a sense of humour, but I am reasonably sensitive to how things might appear /feel for those who might sense they are the butt of a 'joke' so am wary. If this is 'owned' by those with bi-polar it makes it different to it being a commercial product taking the p out of those with MH issues.

Bags I'm not worrying about sensitivity and don't need to lighten up. I just "don't get" the point, light-hearted or otherwise. It doesn't even look like a tee shirt to me and is it only available in dreary grey? I'm also slightly puzzled about what it is that is light-hearted about bipolar disorder– but then I'm no expert.

Being wacky about 'sensitive' subjects is a good way to deal with them. Humour is vital for things that are difficult to deal with.

I could find quite a lot of 'funny' jokes about disability to put on the 'Just Jokes' thread. As I don't find such jokes remotely amusing, anybody wanting to read them will have to look elsewhere.
There is a big difference between having a sense of humour and being insensitive.
If jingle does suffer from bi-polar disorder, she has my sympathy, but I don't think she does.

Oh, I agree that it's ugly, absent. The vast majority of 'talking' T-shirts are. But I got jings's light-hearted approach all the same. I then moved away from the thread without comment until people started moaning. I believe the street phrase is "lighten up, why don't you?"

I freely admit to having no sense of humour. I can't see anything funny about the tee shirt's design, I can't actually find a slogan and I think the whole thing is quite ugly.

I think this t shirt is fine if you really are. Maybe not if you are just a moody person. I have seen so many that are worse.

Living with even mild ME isn't funny either, but if someone designed a funny T-shirt about it that would make people think, I'd be glad. Likewise with other silent, invisible health conditions.
