Grace is a bit miffed that she has had to budge up, but recognises that her mum has been a bad, bad, bad granny and will not be allowed out until the nice ladies at Gransnet Towers say so. Her mum is sad that her scintillating exchange of views with another lady has been curtailed - surely not censoredshock- and the thread she started has apparently disappeared like a snowflake on a river - a moment there, then gone for eversad
It seems a shame that smutty schoolboy lavatorial humour and crude innuendo are deemed acceptable despite leainge a bad taste on an otherwise friendly, companionable and intelligent site. She has said she will apologise to any parties named (or not) so, apart from hanging her head in shame, tail firmly between the legs and ears drooping, what more can she do? She will probably have many more hours in the day now to take Grace for nice walkies instead of sitting at that machine on the desk. [woof] emoticon.

Ok Glass Grannyeggs I might let you off this time!
This has been one of the more crazy diverse selection of posts on one thread. Its the time shifts in way the posts come in that makes it such fun to read.
It keeps us on our toes and provides some amusement though! I am still grining at it.

glassortwo Wed 28-Nov-12 07:47:59

Grannyeggs Tue 27-Nov-12 23:04:34

Nelliemoser Tue 27-Nov-12 22:54:29

Really grannyeggs glass do keep up! It is surely quite clear what this thread is about. I shall expect your written account of what has been discussed on my desk first thing on Monday morning or its a detention.

Grannyeggs Tue 27-Nov-12 22:26:58

Ok glass I have it too.Not sure what good it will do us, we now have it on two threads grin

glassortwo Tue 27-Nov-12 20:54:25

Right I have found the right thread...dont ask....I am confused enough grin but here goes ........

grannyeggs when you changed your name I put my foot right in it and called you goldeneggs (dont know if you noticed)

gracesmum Tue 27-Nov-12 19:44:40

It's a bit like tuning into The Archers after a few years months away - "plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose"smile

Grannyeggs Tue 27-Nov-12 19:40:50

I have just returned to Gransnet after a few weeks of not logging on or occasional lurking. I haven't a clue what this thread is about, it has lurched from one subject to another and back again, Gracesmum in the dog house, The Alps New Zealand , dress making are only a few! I also see that name changing is frowned upon, I did it once, from Golden Gran to Grannyeggs, and I can't for the life of me remember why, it seems pointless now. Anyway what I am saying is, it's great to be back and see that nothing has changed. Gransnetters rock!grin

Ana Tue 27-Nov-12 19:11:52

Oh! I thought it meant net curtains....grin

absentgrana Tue 27-Nov-12 19:10:52

Strictly speaking, netty is a Geordie word for a loo. (Geordie = Newcastle, but I am County Durham.) They were always outside and not necessarily water-flushed. My bro-in-law always refers to the loo as the netty.

annodomini Tue 27-Nov-12 19:10:52

Use your imagination, JessM. What facilities do we have inside nowadays that used to be outside in the backyard?

JessM Tue 27-Nov-12 19:03:32

still want to know what netties is/are????

JessM Mon 26-Nov-12 13:40:23

Netties? What are they? Please translate northern dialect?

absentgrana Mon 26-Nov-12 12:58:23

Yes JessM we have shops and a lovely Edwardian theatre. We even have indoor netties nowadays. grin

JessM Mon 26-Nov-12 12:56:08

Yes we have a busy theatre that caters for wide range of tastes, also cinemas etc.
And a LOT of shopping, most of it mall based. Bit of a shopping paradise for the northern home counties/western east anglia/southern midlands or wherever we are. Not a mountain in site. Guess you've got shops in Darlington absent grin

Greatnan Mon 26-Nov-12 11:57:24

I don't suppose many people would be happy in my bit of the Alps - my village has one little supermarket, one bakers, a post office, two restaurants/bars and, of course, a beauty and hair salon. There is a shop selling skiing and other sports equipment. I live about 3 kms out of the village - my block of flats is right on the crest of a mountain pass or col. It is a three minute drive to the nearest shop, or a 20-minute walk down a very steep road. There are large supermarkets within a 30 minute drive.
There are, of course, all the usual large French stores in the nearest towns of Annemasse and Thonon les Bains, but as I rarely shop for anything other than food I don't use them.

I don't know Milton Keynes, but I suspect that if you like to go out in the evenings, to cinema, theatre, or bar you will be happier there than in the Alps! Horses for courses!

absentgrana Mon 26-Nov-12 11:55:12

JessM No it isn't. Remember we're all (that is three of us) in this together. There's no skiing in Darlington.

JessM Mon 26-Nov-12 11:48:22

Ah - and it has "real snow" there we are then. Skiing is the link!

gracesmum Mon 26-Nov-12 11:29:57

Come on, jessM- we have the snowdome - so that's the same, and don't we still have The Point? It could pass for an alp on a foggy day with the lights offgrin

Greatnan Mon 26-Nov-12 10:13:08

Perhaps Joan could nip over from Oz! Any more potential members of GN Down Under?

JessM Mon 26-Nov-12 10:10:43

Seems we have more than offspring in NZ in common. Would never have guessed hmm grin grin grin
Have to say that MK and the Alps have very little in common though. (Struggling to think of anything - internet connection? shops?)
Sigh. Maybe one day we will all be growing old (dis)gracefully in NZ and having a little NZ GN chapter meeting.

Greatnan Mon 26-Nov-12 10:09:49

I am more than happy to be confused with jess or absent - but I am the one with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren! And there is a photo of me on my profile.

absentgrana Mon 26-Nov-12 09:17:03

Faye I'm quite flattered by all this confusion but am a little worried about how Greatnan and JessM might be feeling. We really are three quite different people.

Ariadne Mon 26-Nov-12 05:42:02

Oh, hello POGS Was wondering where you had got to! Nice to see you back.
