who might be thinking of joining.

You will only be allowed to stay if: you can spell, can type, have a good grasp of English grammar, and preferably have a degree (OU is allowed).

And whatever you do don't show any sign of a slightly smutty sense of humour. That will make the poor gentle-women on here tear their hair, and Gransnet will delete you in case you scare off any potential advertisers. (not there seems to be many at the moment)

When my daughter, her DH and her toddler son came back from NZ they lived with us for 3 months while they sorted out accommodation of their own. With them they brought this big plastic, primary colour toy. It was one of those Vtech things where the toddler put balls in the top, or on a rotating arm and they spun around or spiralled down with loud clunks. It plays music, and says stupid things like 3 blue lollipops in an irritating American accent. It was the most annoying thing I'd ever come across. I was so glad when they left that they took it with them.

But then, within a week I was asking them to return it. The grandchildren loved to play with it for long periods and I found it played some tunes I loved, like Big Rock Candy Mountain and I found it had a volume control.

Hi JO grin

Butty Thu 29-Nov-12 11:56:46

.....and it wouldn't be the same without you J! smile

Can't help but love you lot. Cannot stop tittering. I do believe we're all everso slightly unhinged [for want of a better word]. grin

Thanks for asking about our friend. He's undergoing all manner of tests. Once the news was known, it appears that offers of assistance have been blocking the phone line. Such support is priceless.

jO5 Thu 29-Nov-12 11:17:37

I'm still here. smile

gracesmum Thu 29-Nov-12 10:48:50

I may be being complacent , but we seem to have lost "annoyances" for the time being?

Greatnan Wed 28-Nov-12 22:20:15

I post at least one joke on Just Jokes every day, so it should usually come fairly high on the Active list.

Yes, just speculating, Sel! grin

Sel Wed 28-Nov-12 21:09:41

Ana and it does beg the question: why would you? And then again whatever the answer, does it really matter? We are not going to be infected! Whatever public forum there is, there will be multiple posters, some who actually 'sign up' to the ethos of the forum, some who just post. Hard to control and it's all about gathering email addresses.

Ana Wed 28-Nov-12 20:53:24

Yes, you'd have to be very careful to keep the two (or multiple!) personalities separate. I suppose it wouldn't matter if you were a troll who just posted the odd inflamatory comment every now and again...hmm

Faye Wed 28-Nov-12 20:46:48

Yes Ana but people get tripped up. I have seen it happen on Gransnet, a poster had two profiles and mentioned the husband of the other poster as though he was her own. I could just about see the oh ooh when she realised what she had done. After that one of the profiles was never used again. smile

Sel Wed 28-Nov-12 20:34:39

Nellimoser that would have been so handy for lines. Does anyone do 'lines' anymore? A somewhat pointless exercise but one I suffered from smile

Ana Wed 28-Nov-12 20:33:02

You could use someone else's computer, or have several computers yourself, if you were determined to be a troll, or to have multiple user names. I really don't see how any Forum administrator can always know who's dodgy.

Faye Wed 28-Nov-12 20:26:41

I think every computer has its own IP address, so you could use two different emails to have two different profile names but GN should be able to see if it came from the same computer. I am not 100% sure on this.

Nelliemoser Wed 28-Nov-12 20:12:59

Phoenix Lavatories to Lentils is not all strange. In fact it is usually a very quick run and an essential reason for an ensuite! grin

Petallus if you are reading this, forgive me yet again for getting the double consonants in you name mixed up. blush

I must spell Petallus's name correctly!

It's really easy to write the correct spelling out 10 times with a word processor. [

I've remembered!

It was because they don't allow threads about another thread. I had an email telling me why they'd deleted it.

absentgrana Wed 28-Nov-12 19:34:01

Bad absent. Cup of coffee. Bedtime and a serious book. It was the goats that did it – you really cannot trust goats these days . Goodnight and soon moon.

Anne58 Wed 28-Nov-12 19:32:49

It often does.

Ana Wed 28-Nov-12 19:32:39
