Seems ages since we had a quiet corner bolt hole, so how about a new seasonal one ?smile
Just a little spot to come and visit from time to time and re-charge batteries. Nothing heavy or serious ever happens in here, it's a place for bantering and smiling.
If it's a Grotto, maybe a few twinkly lights over the entrance? Plenty of squishy sofas for relaxing. I've left a plate of mince pies on the table and a flask of hot chocolate, so help yourselves.
Does anyone have any nice scented candles?

Just popping my head around the door to see you lot lolling around - there may be too much alcohol, I've seen many mentions! Good news about the champers Movedalot, a justification finally.

Notso I was the Angel Gabriel when I was six, I peaked early! I had the proper Biblical text to recite though, not Mary, Mary, I know it must be scary gringrin

Back to my list - sigh

whenim64 Tue 04-Dec-12 14:39:01

I WOULD have a mince pie but I see they've disappeared! Good job I called at Greggs for a hot turkey and stuffing barm cake! grin

Notsogrand Tue 04-Dec-12 14:46:01

Sel when my daughter was Mary in the Nativity at primary school, the Angel Gabriel stood behind the crib scene throughout, with her arms folded across her 6 year old chest and the finger of her right hand permanently inside her left nostril! Was it you?

whenim64 Tue 04-Dec-12 14:53:31

We could do with a few buckets of snow for that authentic touch. Greatnan? Can you oblige. A few icicles would be nice, too grin

annodomini Tue 04-Dec-12 14:55:31

My GS was a big success as a cow and a sheep in successive years. Not sure what he is going to be this year.

Greatnan Tue 04-Dec-12 14:57:33

I could bring a couple of tons - it is falling thickly outside my window! How about some very tall pine trees too?

FlicketyB Tue 04-Dec-12 14:58:21

We have just had a severe hail storm, would that help? Little icy balls glittering in the sunlight, good god did I really write that? Oh well you know what I mean, or does that make it even worse!

whenim64 Tue 04-Dec-12 15:00:30

I've set up an ice rink outside the grotto, if anyone fancies their chances? Skating boots are hung up ready - all sizes. Help yourself grin

germolene and bandages on the shelf!

annodomini Tue 04-Dec-12 15:01:13

I thought the idea was to be cosy. I prefer not to have cold feet - or do I have to go and get my hot water bottle?

whenim64 Tue 04-Dec-12 15:02:38

Yes, pine trees Greatnan - they smell lovely!

Whose feet are those, poking out from under that mound of snow? grin

Sel Tue 04-Dec-12 15:05:58

Notsogrand Rats! Outed blush (although not so sure age wise!!)

My youngest daughter phoned yesterday and was telling me she'd spent £34 in Hobbycraft to make a Christmas hat - her company is having a competition. She was ever so proud, it's BIG, a complete festive house apparently. I told her I dreaded to think what sort of Mother she'd be, come the Nativity play season..she said she'd be investigating renting lambs and sourcing tea towels from Bethlehem. She certainly doesn't get it from me grin

List, list

Greatnan Tue 04-Dec-12 15:15:49

Flickety - sounds very uncomfortable! grin

Gally Tue 04-Dec-12 15:22:16

I've just opened a box of chocolates - just testing them before bringing them into the Grotto to share out wink; can someone please tell me why in the name of * * * * * the 'menu' is printed underneath the box hmm. I have chocolates all over the floor as I contort my body to read upside down!

Greatnan Tue 04-Dec-12 15:28:03

You could do what my grand-daughter used to do - take a bite out of each and if you don't like it, put it back in the box with the bitten bit on the bottom.

whenim64 Tue 04-Dec-12 15:29:24

Gally it's simple - you cram all the chocolates in your mouth, then turn the box over to see what you're eating! grin

whenim64 Tue 04-Dec-12 15:32:00

Does anyone know if a bottle of Calvados I opened last Christmas will still be ok this year? Better try it before I pass it round...grin

london Tue 04-Dec-12 15:33:52

a bet all yous are canny served now .all bring some sherry and more mince pies .dont fall a sleep untill i get there smile

jeni Tue 04-Dec-12 15:33:54

Should be.

NanaNel Tue 04-Dec-12 15:38:34

I can smell the pine tree. Just one more cup of hot chocolate then I really must leave and do something useful. Be back in the morning. I'll bring the bacon butties. Have a good night.

Movedalot Tue 04-Dec-12 15:55:53

I'll bring more mince pies, made loads at the weekend and they are in the freezer waiting to be used.

I'm loving the sound of this Nativity play!

Anyone want some gluwein?

Butty Tue 04-Dec-12 16:04:09

Anyone want to try out my 'alternative' Christmas pudding I've been experimenting with? Orange slices soaked in Quantro + a dash of sugar and hint of ginger to go on top of an Orange Mousse.

Waddya think? Is it a winner?

annodomini Tue 04-Dec-12 16:16:59

Hello... what's that delicious smell? Oh thank you, Butty - don't mind if I do. (yawns...) I've just woken up from forty winks - dropped off in this comfortable corner of the squashy sofa. What's that? No, no I don't snore. 'twasn't me... hmm

Movedalot Tue 04-Dec-12 16:21:52

I'm not bringing any of my Christmas cakes as DS says it would be illegal to drive after just sniffing them and I don't want to be responisb le for any of you losing your licence!

Ariadne Tue 04-Dec-12 16:28:48

Think it might have been me snoring, anno! Or perhaps we were in concert? Maybe just a little Calvados, just to help when out, you know. Butty - any of those oranges left? grin

Nelliemoser Tue 04-Dec-12 16:56:53

Are we allowed to stay here until Christmas is over?
