PS Bet haggis is good too. Maybe this is why the scots survived.

Unusual plumage or not, they're still feisty little birds - lovely!

So, I see there's another non-mine-pie household on GN.

We saw what we think was a sparrow whilst visiting Lindisfarne in September, with those sort of unusual markings. We thought it was a sparrow because apart from the markings, it looked like one, and was with other sparrows. I`ve put it`s picture on my profile.

What do they do to them up there?

Well, it was associating with loads of other sparrows! They were also very tame, came right up to us for food.

Could be albino. It does happen.

It was leucistic!

There`s a pic on there of a leucistic sparrow on Lindisfarne, but it looks a bit whiter than mine.

Often have blackbirds with white patches in my garden.

leucistic – new word for me. Had to look it up. Learn something every day on GN.

Reminds me of the lovely book "The White Robin" by Miss Read.
