I'm so happy to be back. Have been in an empty "dark place" for a wee while. Now beginning to feel almost human. grin I'm sorry to have lost touch with all the recent happenings. I hope to catch up soonest.

Heartfelt thanks to Bags NellieSmol Baubles Grannylin for your ongoing support. To have such fine friends is beyond price. flowers

Have uploaded a lovely photo of the wee man. His smile is infectious. His daddy is en route to Afghanistan. He'll be joining troops at Camp Bastian. Will train with the Royal Marines for four days, followed by an interesting itinerary in his role as a journalist. We had two, long chats. It was as I wished him well [with a real smile on my face] that I started to come out of my depression.

To anyone who is feeling low at this time, I send my love and very best wishes. May I echo Nanban's wonderful festive season message. It came straight from the heart. smile

THANK you. Yay!!! My son...he's classy...and even if he has written this particular article for the Mail, I think that the newspaper deserves it. It costs a whack in insurance to cover a journalist in that part of the world!

Anyone interested in Rory, the cat of uncertain parentage, there are three pics uploaded in my album. Being a near-wild cat, he has certainly settled in with us without too much effort [on his part!] grin

You will have felt very proud of Luke. We watched Louie play for his team when we were last in Oakham. Wee Man got so excited and kept calling..."come on Louie" the entire match...he even cheered for Louie when the opposing side scored a goal! grin

Thanks again, glamma, have printed out entire article. It is very good.

soop I PMd you back but not before I had been off to watch youngest DGS Luke playing his first football tournament,I'm so glad you found it as I said those boys and girls really do have their moral boosted when aricles are reported, the MERT team spoken about is the team DS2 worked with when they where transferring injured troops for treatment they are really in the thick of things and work under terrible circumstances.Lets hope they all have some kind of peaceful festive period.

A new photo uploaded from Wee Man's mummy's iPhone. It is in number 5 spot in my album. Once again, I couldn't get it to the number 1 slot. What am I doing wrong? Anyways, so proud of our little grandson. smile

I bear the bite marks of Clive, a very grumpy cat who is specially mean in wet weather! Belongs to DS1's family. His sister is the sweetest little cat imaginable!

Grannyeggs Thu 27-Dec-12 12:34:39

I'm happy that others are happily back ... in the heart of this virtual village. sunshine

Ella46 Thu 27-Dec-12 12:19:09

So glad you've had a happy time soop, sometimes I think the dread is worse than the reality of Christmas smile

soop Thu 27-Dec-12 12:02:33

I'm happy to be able to wish you all a very good morning. I hope that, inspite of certain misgivings, those, like me, who felt dispirited prior to the 25th, have found something to celebrate. This doesn't sound grammatically correct. Hey ho...as Bags would say, we're none of us perfect. Tee hee! grin

It has been a peaceful few days. We've also met with friends in the village, and laughed a lot. On Christmas day we had a full quota of phone calls from family. Matt called from Afghanistan, having enjoyed a five-course feast with the troops.

Wee man's mummy phoned and we've had several photos of T sent as attachments. I've uploaded one of him with his lovely bicycle. The grin is so infectious.

Rory [the cat] lurves living with us. He has truly mastered the fine art of using a litter tray. He returns to his outdoor apartment at bedtime. We have to make sure that he still regards it as a safe retreat. When we go away for a few days, friends will call to feed him. There is no way he would tolerate a stranger entering the house. I can imagine fur flying...hmm

Over the next few days, I'm hoping to catch up on the happenings of my mates. smile smile smile
