Good luck Nemo on your new life. Shaking off the shackles of a bad relationship is very liberating. Hope to hear more from you, especially how you go with your new start. flowers

Quite a lot! I moved down from Scotland 3 days ago to start a new (single) life, in a rented house, with a new job starting on Monday. I have been self-employed for the past ten years so it's all a bit daunting whilst also exciting! I am also looking forward to posting more and lurking less smile.

Happy New Year to everybody.

I plan to no longer be in full time employment come the end of this year. So - (1) this will be last year of working full time. But - (2) project I work for don't want me to retire. And - (3) DH seems rather more apprehensive than I realised re the drop in income that will be a result of me chucking in my job, especially since he has become aware of (2) as an option. However - (4) I'm gonna do it anyway (before the end of this year)! (5) grin

I regard life as a jigsaw. looking at the completed part you can see the half finished picture, but until you have ALL the pieces fitting properly, nobody knows how the finished work will look!

Hoping you all manage a beautiful picture for 2013!!

Sook Mon 31-Dec-12 23:12:50

Keep us updated on his progress sewsilver and take care of yourself!

glassortwo Mon 31-Dec-12 22:52:35

Gally - I hope the new year brings good things for you in your new life. You are right; it might be best not to lnow what is around the corner. But there are many people on here who are rooting for you as I am sure you know.

vq - you are not a "scrounger" - you are a part of a national community that values all its citizens and supports them when times are hard. We pay in and we take out - that is what it is all about. Some of the time we are payers and sometimes receivers. You might be a receiver for a bit and there is nowt wrong with that.

In 2013 (all being well) I will become a grandma for the sixth time. My hope is that my foot will mend and I will become more mobile during 2013 and able to enjoy the holidays that we have booked.

I hope that 2013 will bring good things for everyone; and the strength to cope with the setbacks too.

whenim64 Mon 31-Dec-12 20:54:41

Sewsilver glad the wait is over. He will be back on the ward and recovering before you know it x

Sewsilver Mon 31-Dec-12 20:48:36

What a lovely supportive lot you are. DH just gone down to theatre after a 12 hour wait. Fingers crossed.

hummingbird Mon 31-Dec-12 20:47:59

My best wishes, too, Sewsilver - you've had a very difficult time, and I hope the new year brings you better news about your dear OH.

Fingers crossed for a good 2013. My OH is retiring in February, (I think we both feel a bit nervous about it), and we will also both be 60 (now how did that happen???). Trip to Florida in April with all our family should be exciting, and a nice fortnight in the sun with our dear friends later in the summer will be the antidote to a busy time.

Good wishes to all Gnetters!
