Fontana Tue 01-Jan-13 20:43:51

last weigh in

Grannyeggs Tue 01-Jan-13 19:46:59

I did it for a while,it worked but I went off it around Christmas and am starting again. Tomorrow . Like everything, it works if you let it.

Fontana Tue 01-Jan-13 19:37:50

Hi I've heard about it, but not tried it.... Glad you have found something that works for you! I have to stop snacking which is my failing :0(

Fondasharing Tue 01-Jan-13 19:33:51

At the end of 2012 I decided to put into action the "5:2" way of eating as described in the Horizon programme in August. I think this was discussed on Gransnet at the time.

So on Mondays and Wednesdays (not two consecutive days) I only have 500-600 calories. i.e. smoothie for breakfast and then soup for lunch and soup for dinner plus a couple of satsumas and lots of water. The rest of the week I eat and drink normal portions and of course, healthily!!!

Both my husband and I were amazed at the results. He lost 3lbs each week and I lost 2lbs each week. We stopped over the last week for Christmas etc. but resume our Routine again tomorrow. It really is worth trying and does not feel like an effort at all because you eat your normal food on 5 days and then just have two of your chosen days off!!!

Has anyone else tried this way?

My daughter has just lost almost seven stone and bagged a job with Weight Watchers ! She encouraged me to sign up to WW before she got the job, so I do it online.. I have lost just over a stone since September 20th, but now can't get motivated, even with the daughter sounding like WW have installed a chip devise in her head LOL x so if you are planning a GN diet group please can you count me in! ( by the way I'm new just joined yesterday)

Because googling 'thigh' on the 1st January can only mean one thing! grin

crimson Tue 01-Jan-13 12:11:58

Strange that I looked up the German for thigh and something popped up telling me the five things I shouldn't eat, as if they 'knew' why I was googling it confused....

crimson Tue 01-Jan-13 12:09:00

I bet the Germans have got a word for it....

cheelu Tue 01-Jan-13 11:50:19

Can we call it having a new relationship with food Please I HATE the word diet. I think we will all do much better if we call it that. I would like to loose 2 stone I am 11 and a bit and want to be 9...Succeeding with a diet involves outside influences I think, for eg if you are bored stressed un happy--

crimson Tue 01-Jan-13 11:43:08

Whatever they are they live in my thighs.

Riverwalk Tue 01-Jan-13 11:29:22

The toxins of over-indulgence feetle !

feetlebaum Tue 01-Jan-13 11:20:08

So, what are these toxins that you are hoping to eliminate?

crimson Tue 01-Jan-13 11:05:47

Aha; a cunning plan! I sometimes think an empty fridge is dangerous because it makes me just pick at whatever is available. I think butterbean soup would make me socially unaccaptable blush. In fact, I can't remember the last time I ate a butterbean [my mum used to buy them]. I have to be careful with peas in that I have a bag in the freezer for putting on sore joints and I'm always worried that someone will use them for cooking by mistake [note to self; check the warning sign on them is still there]. Right; just going to have a glass of water [goes away with halo glistening above head]....

Marelli Tue 01-Jan-13 10:59:01

POGS...grin!!
