Hello Fontana a warm welcome, I am fairly new too and I can tell you joining GN was one of the best things I did in 2012, people on here are kind, caring and always willing to give you the time of day, so best wishes and a very Happy New Year..

Fontana Mon 31-Dec-12 23:02:42

Hi cheelu thanks for getting in touch, the place seems friendly already, hope to get to know a few people in 2013. Are we all grandmas or are there granddads too?

Smoluski Mon 31-Dec-12 23:04:33

Grannyknot Mon 31-Dec-12 23:05:30

Hi Fontana welcome, there are some granddads around. And I'm not a granny hence my username a play on Granny (not). Come on in, the water's fine.

Deedaa Mon 31-Dec-12 23:20:35

Hi Fontana I've only been here for a few weeks. I found it through my husband's computer magazine - now I drive him mad typing away grin

Fontana Mon 31-Dec-12 23:23:09

Hi Deedaa Good to meet you, I'm using my IPad which I really love, apart from seeing my fingers moving, my other half has no idea what I am doing LOL

Faye Mon 31-Dec-12 23:35:23

Welcome Fontana I haven't told any of my family, nor friends about Gransnet. They know I chat often occasionally on a forum, but I like to keep Gransnet to myself.

Hi Fontana and welcome to Gransnet; I'm just along the coast in Devon. I enjoyed reading your blurb; purple hair, Docs and a new job.......interesting - looking forward to getting to know you. We've had a few newbies recently and it's lovely how they've seemed to get their feet under the table (so to speak) and feel at home in our little community. Don't be put off by the occasional spat; they blow over if no-one fans the flames. grin

Hello and Happy New Year, fontana! Look forward to reading your posts. We are definitely a mixed bunch - but that's what makes it work. smile

Fontana Tue 01-Jan-13 10:16:32

Hi Faye, that sounds like a plan! Hoping to make friends, have fun and share ideas with new people....Happy New Year by the way!

Fontana Tue 01-Jan-13 10:18:30

Hi Grannyactivist, thanks for your message, should have mentioned that the purple hair is spikey too, hope that does not make me sound too scary LOL?

Happy New Year!

Butty Tue 01-Jan-13 10:25:33

Hi Fontana and welcome to the world of GN. smile

Fontana Tue 01-Jan-13 10:31:50

Hi Fontana; I've been nosey and checked your profile blush. See you list The Shell Seekers as one of your favourite books. Isn't it just wonderful. I lived in Cornwall for a few years and I find her books lovely 'comfort reads'. A friend lent me The Shell Seekers several years ago and, for once' I left it somewhere when we were on holiday [Kefalonia or somewhere] because I wanted someone else to pick it up and read it whilst sitting on a beach gazing out to sea. I'm normally very precious with books and can't bear to part with them. Welcome!

Fontana Tue 01-Jan-13 11:09:09

Thanks Crimson, yes a fab book I just bought my self a secondhand copy after lending mine to someone and not getting it back! I'm the same about books as you, some books I just can't bear to part with! I stupidly gave away my Mrs Beeton book on household management 1982 edition and just spent a lot of money on buying another one from EBay!

hello Fontana - welcome to G'net. You seem to be very much at home here and it's good to meet a kindred spirit. smile
