Made some bread, made some lentil soup, sawed, lopped and yanked a couple of dozen rhododendron branches off and shredded them, pulled a muscle in the process, divested self of wet muddy clothing including wool gloves topped by industrial strength rubber gloves, and the other paraphernalia of keeping warm and dry in Scotland in winter, showered, put a wash on, made coffee, sat down with feet up.

"Nufff d-d-day, I fink!" as DD used to say when she was two.

Still have to wash-up and make dinner but I'm slobbing until that cannot be put off any longer.

Maybe that's why he's demanding his 'meat and 2 veg' just now, soop! When he disappears into the forest on a 'mission' and discovers his 2 veg have gone, he's going to feel quite surprised/put out....and probably are half of Kintyre's lady-cats! grin
Glad you're having such good service from Stobhill, soop - take it easy. smile

soop Fri 15-Feb-13 13:05:56

harri ...once Rory has fully recovered from the shock of discovering that he's incomplete, we shall ration him. In the meantime...wink

harrigran Fri 15-Feb-13 13:01:19

Rory is going to get portly if he keeps demanding seconds.
flowers for you soop

soop Fri 15-Feb-13 12:43:40

Good morning dear friends and fans of Rory Chubby-Chops. It's beautiful here in Kintyre. It's been a long time coming, but it certainly feels spring-like today. sunshine
Update on Rory...[for those who care]
Spent a comfortable night asleep on his favourite cushion.
Awoke at 7:00 and demanded asked for breakfast.
Used the litter box. Made huge fuss covering the deposit. Mr soop took tray outside and proceeded to clean it.
Followed Mr soop back indoors demanded asked for second helpings of Premium cat food.
Wandered into the bedroom and stayed awhile during my shower.
Back outside and sauntered into the forest.
Thought better of it...and came back again.
Followed Mr soop around the garden as he topped up the bird seed.
Came indoors and made a fuss, accompanied by pleasant purring.
Scarpered and hid behind the sofa when the hoover came into play.
Now sitting at my feet as I tell you that he's a Good Boy grin

The hospital rang yesterday evening to check on my pain level after the procedure. I thought that was a caring thing to do. flowers to New Stobhill Hospital, Renfrewshire, Glasgow

glassortwo Thu 14-Feb-13 22:43:32

soop thats a good job done, ahh poor Rory. smile
jess flowers for your MIL.

numberplease Thu 14-Feb-13 20:51:50

Pleased he`s doing well. Have you any idea how old he is Soop?

soop Thu 14-Feb-13 18:29:05

Ella and number smile The lady who handed Rory back to us said - "He's like a small panther...he'll sleep most of the day". He's slept for about ten minutes. He's been so fussy and friendly. He's also had several meals. And yes, he is very like a small panther. wink

Butty Thu 14-Feb-13 17:42:23

Jess - Sorry your mum-in-law is having a rotten time of it, but good to know she's resting and enjoying her cuppa's.

celebgran Thu 14-Feb-13 17:41:41

Oh jess poor mil glad she ok and enjoyed mugs tea!

numberplease Thu 14-Feb-13 17:39:14

For some mysterious reason, I seem to have missed this thread recently. So may I send best wishes to your MIL JessM, and hope that she`s soon feeling better.
And Soop, dear beloved Soop, well done on the Rory front, I fully expected to hear about much more trauma. Maybe, when he`s had a bit of time to reflect on what`s been done to/for him, he may just feel a tiny prick bit of resentment, but he`ll soon get over it when he realises how lucky he is to have you and Mr Soop to take care of him.

Ella46 Thu 14-Feb-13 17:26:26

soop, a bit below the belt to do that to poor Rory on Valentines Day! grin Glad he's ok though.

Jess, flowers for your long-suffering Mil, such a shame the hospital can't do a kinder job sad

soop Thu 14-Feb-13 17:19:07

Jess I'm sorry to hear that MIL has had another trip into hospital. She is certainly having a rough time. She must feel grateful for being home with people who love her.To send a patient home in a dehydrated condition, is wicked. The experience that I had, when I was in a Scottish hospital, earlier this week, was at the opposite end of the good/bad spectrum. I wish that all hospitals could match the standard of NewStobhill, in Glasgow. flowers

annodomini Thu 14-Feb-13 16:39:24

Cheers, soop - it's worked out really well for you and ultimately for Rory. JessM, sorry your MiL is having such a hard time. Surely someone has a remedy!

kittylester Thu 14-Feb-13 16:20:15

Flipping heck (to coin a phrase!) doesn't it make your blood boil, Jess. Bet she was glad to see you. flowers for MiL.

We are seeing many more complaints about hospitals on here aren't we? sad

JessM Thu 14-Feb-13 16:08:36

Just retrieved MIL from hospital, another leg bleed. Another transfusion.
She is very glad to be home - she had only had 2 little cups of tea all day and was obviously so dehydrated her mouth was too dry to talk properly. Just downed 2 big mugs of tea bless her.

j08 Thu 14-Feb-13 15:19:33

What do you mean "ouch ouch ouch" Butty! You cannot possibly empathise with this!

Clever ruse there soop - the chicken morsel in the box. Glad he 's ok.

Marelli Thu 14-Feb-13 15:10:27

Well done Rory!
Met with Gally for lunch - (cabbage and bean soup hmm)! Then we popped into town to see a bit of the (small) Billion Rising. Wanted to see my daughter and her pals drumming but we missed it sad. It was just a small gathering of like-minded people and I was able to introduce Gally to some of my family, which was nice. smile

Butty Thu 14-Feb-13 14:31:19

Ouch, ouch, ouch! Well done Rory ....... and soop and Mr. Soop. smile

Perhaps that should be just the two 'ouches' wink

Gagagran Thu 14-Feb-13 14:13:04

Hurray! The deed is done - well in Rory's case to be done no more. Hope he has a good sleep and his sweeter instincts are now given full reign!

Well done Soop wine Slainte!

Ana Thu 14-Feb-13 13:23:56

Glad it went so well, soop! smile
Rory obviously decided it was better to give in gracefully!

soop Thu 14-Feb-13 13:21:55

Big beaming grin to you lovely lot...
Yay! Rory has had his op and is snoozing in his favourite chair.
At 8:30 he walked into the cat carrier for the tempting chicken morsal. He yowled for the first ten miles of the journey by car. Thereafter, he kept a low profile. We arrived at the vet's surgery at 9:10. The lady receptionist made cooing noises and Rory fixed her with an icy stare. We went away [with a wee tear in the eye], had coffee, did the Tesco shop and walked along the Campbeltown promenade. We went back to collect Rory...who apparently has not a single flea, and paid the bill. He was mute during the drive home. He peed on his rug and we ate mints to kill the whiff of ammonia! We set the basket down close to his litter tray, he staggered to the tray and had a very long wee. He teetered into the kitchen and rubbed around us with a certain "what's for lunch?" look in his eye. He had a special Gourmet turkey treat. He washed, wandered towards his favourite chair, leapt on to his favourite cushion...and went all dozy. Need I add that we are chuffed to have survived what we anticipated would be a battle of wills. In fact, he was so sweet and accommodating. As Mr soop keeps saying - "Such a GOOD BOY Tonight we'll celebrate with a wee dram. wine Slainte! smile

Gagagran Thu 14-Feb-13 13:08:32

Can't stop thinking of Soop and Rory and wondering if he is by now a lesser cat than he was earlier this morning.

Hope it went well and the travel was not too much of a nightmare and that he forgives you pretty quickly Soop. I always found that some tasty titbits had an amazing effect on my cats' affections! (Especially tinned pilchards for some reason)

Ella46 Thu 14-Feb-13 08:19:14

Harri Let's hope he feels better soon then grin
flowers for Mr Harri smile

harrigran Wed 13-Feb-13 23:59:36

Got to vacuum, wash floors, iron and cook today. First time in three years DH has admitted to feeling poorly and allowed me into my own kitchen.
