Made some bread, made some lentil soup, sawed, lopped and yanked a couple of dozen rhododendron branches off and shredded them, pulled a muscle in the process, divested self of wet muddy clothing including wool gloves topped by industrial strength rubber gloves, and the other paraphernalia of keeping warm and dry in Scotland in winter, showered, put a wash on, made coffee, sat down with feet up.

"Nufff d-d-day, I fink!" as DD used to say when she was two.

Still have to wash-up and make dinner but I'm slobbing until that cannot be put off any longer.

Good to hear you are feeling better kitty. And I hope you are too, jeni.

Bags Sat 12-Jan-13 18:05:55

soop, all the best for hospital investigations and ops and then a visit to Wee Man to look forward to. I'm very glad you are going to get help with the garden. It sounded as if you were doing too much! sunshine

Ella46 Sat 12-Jan-13 17:48:26

That's all right then smile

annodomini Sat 12-Jan-13 17:21:49

I didn't go as it happens, Ella. I had thought about going for a swim at the health club or doing something in the gym, but chickened out and decided to stay at home doing this and that but mostly not much!

Butty Sat 12-Jan-13 17:18:10

soop - A visit to wee man in the Spring - you and Mr. S. have something to aim for. smile
Really hope all goes well for you both in the next few weeks.
Take care. x

Today DH and I went out for lovely breakfast, courtesy of DD who gave us for Christmas a voucher for a Brasserie type restaurant which opened nearby a few months ago. Had Eggs Benedict, yumm grin Have been tidying out a cupboard since then. And are waiting for my brother and his family to come for tea, they have been on a family outing to a Matinee. Nice day.

jeni Sat 12-Jan-13 16:41:28

Hi Soop glad to see you again.

Well I'm up to date on my files for tribunal.. I'm therefore feeling very virtuous![halo emoticon]

Wondering if I dare have little drink at 6pm?

soop Sat 12-Jan-13 16:01:12

Ariadne and (((hugs))) to you. smile

Ariadne Sat 12-Jan-13 15:57:35

Hello, dear soop - I was thinking about you just the other day at DD's, as I looked at your lovely painting of the granddog. Do take lots of care, and give Mr Soop a hug from me. Here's one for you ((((hug))))

soop Sat 12-Jan-13 15:55:57

Good point, Granny23. We quite often escape the snow as the Gulf stream helps to keep the temperature on the plus side. Pale pink wash of early sunset. Islands shrouded in a soft pearly mist.

kitty Good to hear that you're on the mend. Take things easy peasy. smile

kittylester Sat 12-Jan-13 15:43:51

Hi soop flowers

Today, I feel loads better and I've been to the village to pay the papers, buy flowers and do a little shopping, cooked brunch for DH and DS1 before they went to the football, talked to 2 daughters, Mum and a brother. De-pooed the garden, refilled all the birdfeeders and thought about cleaning the bird-table. Decided that I needed to look after myself so sat down at the computer with brew and GN smile

Granny23 Sat 12-Jan-13 15:10:26

Hi Soop You should get the house on the market asap and request that all viewings are in the snow. House and garden will then look beautiful, tucked under a white blanket. Will you be 'kept in' at Stobhill or there and back in a day? I expect Mr Soop will be a good few days at Gartnavel - will you stay in Glasgow too?

soop Sat 12-Jan-13 14:59:04

Nanado and anno...lovely messages. Thank you. I shall be going to New Stobhill, and Mr soop to Gartnaval hospital - both in Glasgow. smile

annodomini Sat 12-Jan-13 14:47:30

I love the new picture and, my goodness, isn't he getting big! I'm constantly surprised at how much they can change in even a few weeks! You are going to have a lot of hassle doing the rounds of hospitals again - are you both going to the same one or different ones? Please don't do yourself any more actual bodily harm in your garden! I am trying (successfully) to turn a blind eye on mine which is in a shocking state. Likewise the house. I bought a new vacuum cleaner on Amazon which was a mistake as it has turned out to be heavier than I thought and after I had tried it out on my small sitting room, my back was dreadful - so it's going back where it came from and I'll be careful to buy one that I can try out. Commiserations to Mr Soop - hope he'll be feeling a lot better very soon. ((((hugs)))) to both of you.

Nanado Sat 12-Jan-13 14:34:07

How nice to hear from you soop I did wonder where you'd gone. Sounds like you've had a hard time as has Mr Soop. Wishing him, and you, well for upcoming tests and surgery. Keep in touch?? smile

soop Sat 12-Jan-13 14:17:05

I've missed you lot but haven't stopped thinking about you and hoping that all is well in your lives. Thank you for many kind messages. flowers
Mr soop has a wicked chest infection. He's asthmatic, which makes breathing very difficult, especially at night-time. He finds it more comfortable to sleep on his kness, head on a pillow. All very distressing.
My GP has managed to get matters sorted, and I now have a date for the final exploratory procedure [colo-rectal] to be carried out at New Stobhill Hospital, under a full anaesthetic, in early Feb. Mr soop also has a date for surgery, the following week. We hope to get well enough to visit the Wee Man in the spring. We were to have stayed with him at the end of this month. That plan, has to be shelved. Anyway, I've a super new pic to upload.
As we're hoping to put our home up for sale in early spring, I've been tackling the garden. It is extremely heavy work. My legs are black and blue and badly scratched as a result of clambering over the rocks and "yanking up" masses of dead vegetation. It, the garden, certainly looks much tidier. We've decided to pay a fit, young couple, who help out in a few gardens in the village, to carry on where I've left off. Makes sense!
Revised plans for the wee hoos are back with the builder. We hope for positive feedback. We've also had a meeting with the planning dept and left feeling satisfied that reactions were in favour regarding design and suitability of location etc. So much red-tape!!!
Rory is a happy pussy cat. He's curled up on his cushion, on his stool, in his home.
A bright, cold day in Kintyre. I understand that bad weather is forecast. Please take good care of yourselves. smile

janeainsworth Sat 12-Jan-13 11:55:46

Get well soon jeni and don't try to do too much too soon. These things take a while to get over.
Had a good day in London yesterday, found myself with a couple of hours to spare, and instead of trailing round the shops decided to see the Wallace Collection in Manchester Square, something I have been meaning to do for years. What a gem and a lovely restaurant too. A cup of tea cost less than in a motorway service station and included courteous waiter service, a comfortable sofa and lovely surroundings. Definitely recommended!

jeni Sat 12-Jan-13 11:52:33

Just had an unexpected Skype from 18/12 old DGD who apparently decided and insisted that mummy and daddy Skyped gaygran, or is it greygran? Anyway that seems to be her name for me. Lovely! smilesmilesmile

jeni Sat 12-Jan-13 11:28:52

Yes thanks, no more sickness. Just don't want food! Staying in bed at the moment. Might get up later.
I'd love to see Kiss me Kate!envy

annodomini Sat 12-Jan-13 11:12:20

gracesmum - that's one of my favourite musicals, so lively and with great tunes. Strangely, I saw a great production in Christchurch NZ about 12 years ago and it still lives in my memory. I hope you enjoy it - sure you will.

gracesmum Sat 12-Jan-13 10:58:21

Hope things are better today jeni? If not "Physician, heal thyself"-in other words "Get help" flowers
We are off to see Kiss Me Kate at The Old Vic. I think it was kitty said she had tickets for it - have you been yet? And did you enjoy it? I am humming "Brush Up Your Shakespeare" as I write smile

jeni Fri 11-Jan-13 20:04:28

Thanks all. I've been sitting downstairs but I think I'll go to bed.
