Made some bread, made some lentil soup, sawed, lopped and yanked a couple of dozen rhododendron branches off and shredded them, pulled a muscle in the process, divested self of wet muddy clothing including wool gloves topped by industrial strength rubber gloves, and the other paraphernalia of keeping warm and dry in Scotland in winter, showered, put a wash on, made coffee, sat down with feet up.

"Nufff d-d-day, I fink!" as DD used to say when she was two.

Still have to wash-up and make dinner but I'm slobbing until that cannot be put off any longer.

jeni Sun 03-Feb-13 13:30:18

Not much water in it and I did open the door.
I've found the number of a local washing machine repairer and will ring him early am (if I remember) in the meantime I will ask angel if I can finish it off in her machine when she returns from work.

I still find it odd how little things like yhis throw me and make me feel weepy and inadequate. Even though I know I'm quite capable of dealing with silly things like this

Note to self " For heavens sake woman! Stop whining and get on with reading Thursdays files!)

Oh , and keep away from GN you're getting addicted!,

Elegran Sun 03-Feb-13 13:33:33

It is the little things that finish you off. The big things can be dealt with.

gracesmum Sun 03-Feb-13 13:33:36

Bl***y machines! They just gang up on you when you least expect it. Give it a kick from me too, I hate it when they "let me down" - feeling your pain!

jeni Sun 03-Feb-13 13:37:18

Hmph!

Actually if you don't see me posting, look for a new poster called Hmph
I think it suits my personality.
Otherwise I'll be Calamity Jane or Grumpy!grin

Tegan Sun 03-Feb-13 13:41:32

Can I just say jeni that, over the past few days you've said a few things that have had me in stitches; you're on top form, woman..keep posting, it's good for my mental well being smile...

jeni Sun 03-Feb-13 13:44:15

But tegan you should know by now that I'm a very serious person! No hilarity in my life. I'm very staid and sensible.

annodomini Sun 03-Feb-13 14:04:21

soop - your grandson is so lucky! First class tickets to Barbados! Are they coming back as well? grin

soop Sun 03-Feb-13 14:06:43

Open-ended, anno...so he can fit the visit inbetween terms. smile

Ariadne Sun 03-Feb-13 15:39:52

Brought Theseus home from hospital! He has demonstrated climbing stairs, and is now nodding off over the rugby.

A great big than you to everyone for supporting us with such affection and some excellent advice and encouragement. flowers

And three cheers for the NHS!

kittylester Sun 03-Feb-13 15:41:56

Glad you've got him back Ariadne. First couple of days back with DH was a bit of a trial so look after yourself. brew

jeni Sun 03-Feb-13 15:42:55

Well done

Well I've read all of next weeks files.
Given up on the washing
Put the loaf on in the bread maker
Lost some weight
What am I supposed to be doing that I've forgotten to do?
This will worry me sick as I'm sure I should be doing something.

Bags Sun 03-Feb-13 15:44:49

ariadne flowers, and here's to his speedy and full recovery wine

Bags Sun 03-Feb-13 15:45:25

jeni, and well done from me! You are very conscientious.

jeni Sun 03-Feb-13 15:47:03

Aw shucks (bashful) smile

kittylester Sun 03-Feb-13 15:49:56

Sitting down with wine jeni, that's what you should be doing.

jeni Sun 03-Feb-13 15:54:18

Too early! Not til 5.30.
That's in1 hour 35mins and20secs.. 29. 28. 27.

jeni Sun 03-Feb-13 16:21:44

Actually I just realised that if I was still at my boarding school I'd have to be sitting reading the bible or an 'improving ' book.
It was ok when I realised the cover of my PilgrimsProgress was the same size as my Leonard Cottrell book!

Ella46 Sun 03-Feb-13 16:27:49

jeni Apologies if I'm stating the 'bleedin' obvious', but my machine cuts out like that if I try to wash a thick bath mat on it's own. It throws the machine out of balance.

Have you tried a full load of washing to see if it resets itself?

Just wondered if the baby towel was in there on its own?

jeni Sun 03-Feb-13 16:31:39

It was but its a full size double.
It won't switch on at all. Reckon it's blown it's fuse at the very least. As I did when it happened!

kittylester Sun 03-Feb-13 16:36:55

Today, I successfully made a doorstop! I was trying to make a gluten free, malted walnut and mixed seed loaf. confused

annodomini Sun 03-Feb-13 16:38:18

Try balancing the single towel with something else, jeni even if it is a thick one. This happened to my washing machine when I had one quite big item in it and it wouldn't work at all. The man who came to fix it asked me to put something else in with it and hey presto!

jeni Sun 03-Feb-13 16:42:44

The machine will not switch on to let you do any thing.no lights no nothing. It's dead, defunct, deceased!

annodomini Sun 03-Feb-13 16:56:37

A Norwegian Blue washing machine... grin

jeni Sun 03-Feb-13 17:08:52

Quite! It's eight sided!

Poly gon!

By the way, if anyone wants to see what my hares look like . Google James Stockton. They're on his website!

jeni Sun 03-Feb-13 17:22:39

I know it's six sided. But that was before I kicked it!
