Made some bread, made some lentil soup, sawed, lopped and yanked a couple of dozen rhododendron branches off and shredded them, pulled a muscle in the process, divested self of wet muddy clothing including wool gloves topped by industrial strength rubber gloves, and the other paraphernalia of keeping warm and dry in Scotland in winter, showered, put a wash on, made coffee, sat down with feet up.

"Nufff d-d-day, I fink!" as DD used to say when she was two.

Still have to wash-up and make dinner but I'm slobbing until that cannot be put off any longer.

jeni grin for the eight-sided washing machine; kitty grin for the doorstep – such talent! (sorry for both inconveniences though)

jeni Sun 03-Feb-13 17:48:24

Good news! It's still under guarantee! I bought it on 7/7/11 with a free 2 year John lewis guarantee! I've just phoned John lewis and they're going to ge LG to send an engineer!smile

janeainsworth Sun 03-Feb-13 17:59:06

jeni Good news about the guarantee - hope they fix it quickly
soop Your grandson's so lucky - we went to Barbados last February and it's a lovely place with lovely people.
Ariadne best wishes to Theseus. I'm sure you'll have a lovely time spoiling him.
Bags hope your cuts and bruises subside soon

I cooked lunch for DD2 and DSil. It was a bit special as she's 30 tomorrow[feeling ancient emoticon].
We rarely have Sunday dinner at lunch time and it's relaxing to have got it all done, cleared up and have the rest of the day feeling lazysmile

I went out to a local outlet mall just to try to buy shoes and Shower Gel and I got both.
Then I passed the luggage shop, and popped in "just looking" at very lightweight airplane locker sized luggage. I saw a good lightweight bag in the sale, went to buy and the assistant said all goods were on BOGOFF.

So I bought a "cabin sized" lightweight trolley case (well reduced) weighs only 1.5kg and the bag for £35. Then I saw a couple buy some well shaped foam neck supports again on BOGOFF! So I bought two of those for about £5.60.

I had better stay away for a while!
A happy bargain feeling. smile

I've got a 24 hour blood pressure check machine attached to my person. The nurse who fitted it said she didn't know why I needed it as my bp was normal - you and me both, I said. Anyway, if they're going to offer these checks, I suppose it's only polite to accept! Not looking forward to having my arm squeezed every 30 minutes during the night though hmm. Roll on tomorrow...

Anne58 Mon 04-Feb-13 17:19:19

Hope you manage to get a reasonable nights sleep Gally

Today I went to the charity shop to but some jeans a size bigger than I usually wear. blush I seem to be gaining weight at quite a speed.

Butty Mon 04-Feb-13 19:09:04

jeni The bronze hares by James Stockton are wonderful. I want! Good news re. J. Lewis.

soop Does grandson have room for you in his suitcase?

Ariadne Theseus home. smile Hurrah........and ditto for the NHS

Today I finished a rubbish book (but it was captivating in it's way), danced my ass off at Zumba, did 'the books' after a long, lean month - and it's another one to come, and measured furniture for the [hopeful] future house move. Cooked and did laundry. Normal day...... smile

Butty Mon 04-Feb-13 19:10:29

.....and gally - Why the blood pressure monitor? Do you have to do it all night?

janeainsworth Mon 04-Feb-13 19:12:30

butty do you do Zumba gold or the real thing?
I can only cope with the gold version!

Butty Mon 04-Feb-13 19:14:14

It's GOLD all the way Jean. Only the best wink

Butty Mon 04-Feb-13 19:15:17

Sorry jane!

Galen Mon 04-Feb-13 19:18:11

Butty you can see why I couldn't resist the hares!
I couldn't decide which one, so ----- I bought all three!blush
They now are dancing on my fireplace, but I think they'll have to be moved when DGD comes!

Learnergran Mon 04-Feb-13 19:20:30

Good luck with the arm-strangling tonight Gally.
Today I made a huge pan of inedible soup but it's too cold in the kitchen to stand straining and disposing of it. I thought of leaving the lid off in the hope that the cats would dispose of it for me but I don't fancy the idea of clearing up after said cats tomorrow morning. But I've also applied the FIFTH - and last, I am only human - coat of varnish to three new 14ft shelves so not a totally wasted day. In bed now keeping warm with two hot water bottles smile

Butty Mon 04-Feb-13 19:25:10

Galen smile smile smile for you and the three hares.

Galen Mon 04-Feb-13 19:29:31

I ought to be making some soup! But!
Oh what the hell, I'll move the next fast day to tomorrow, or tomorrow, or tomorrow ,
Creeps on this petty pace from day to day to last syllable of recorded time.
And all our yesterday's have lighted fools the way to dusty death!confused

Think more wine is called for smile

Galen Mon 04-Feb-13 19:32:44

Butty there are 4! The moon gazer, the boxer and the boxing hares.

By the way, I have double cabin booked in June for the maiden voyage of Queen Victoria to Iceland going to I think Norway then Faroese on the return.

There is only enormous little old me!

janeainsworth Mon 04-Feb-13 19:49:15

Galen Mon 04-Feb-13 20:53:01

Bags Wed 06-Feb-13 21:50:30

Cubs love doing star-gazing smile

Ariadne Wed 06-Feb-13 21:56:16

Learner so glad to know that I am not the only one who can make inedible soup. I just put a huge dollop into a composting bag and it joined the rest in the food waste bin. It was truly horrible, and I do not know why!

Oldgreymare Thu 07-Feb-13 02:57:28

blush Got up at 3:30, thinking it was 6:30, and did a bit of putting away whilst making coffee.
Now drinking coffee (can't waste it!) hmm

annodomini Thu 07-Feb-13 07:45:03

I'm unintentionally doing the 5:2 diet this week. The family had noro virus over the weekend; I turned up on Monday and took every precaution, but they swanned off to Florida yesterday and the minute they left, I knew my precautions hadn't been enough. Yesterday is a bit of a blur but this morning I do feel much better if not hungry. I'm looking after the cats but they are failing to look after me!
