A new what-I-did-today thread

Glad I am not the only messy creature bags. I have disembowelled a load of disorganised boxes with various forms of paper. Now all over office floor.Weather dire - grey and wet. Plodded off for wet walk. MIL is back in A and E - her leg ulcers keep bleeding. DH was with her so he is having a long day waiting I expect. Bless him. And her - how many more ways can that body of hers find to make her suffer?

Have just checked our £1 Lotto ticket. Three numbers win us £10. We were just one number out x 2...and those would have won us a small fortune. I'd have loved to have told you that you lot are in for a treat. Never mind, every little helps, and the winnings will help to feed Rory "chubby chops" for a wee while. He is visiting his "chariot of doom" for a chicken treat, first thing every morning. Only five more treats, and then we're off to the vet.

I must away to do the ironing. Tomorrow Im to perform a thorough house-clean event. I always perform the ritual, prior to a stay in hospital. If I shouldn't "wake-up" visitors to our home will find it looking at it's best. A friend will feed the cats. I hope to be back with you on Thursday.

I've managed to get together with AllieOxon at last since I must by now be a virus-free zone. We've had a lovely long chat and found plenty in common and a great deal more to talk about. Looking forward to the next time, Allie. Maybe some !

Taking a break from quilting GS's space quilt as I've just broken a needle and then stabbed my thumb with it. Wouldn't do to make the quilt all bloody.

It is not a good situation though. And difficult with no family on the spot. Swollen ankles seem to be exacerbating the situation (cause is heart failure) and for some reason the GP reduced her diuretics last week. So I think it might be my job to call him tomorrow. And I suspect that the only once a month warfarin checks are a money saving thing.

Jess that sounds really complicated and unpleasant. I hope things improve after your phonecall.

Glad to report that the antibiotics and steroids have made a mega-improvement to the asthma and chest infection and I have even felt up to baking a batch of ginger biscuits this morning. I hope all the other fellow-sufferers are also feeling better.

Is anyone else longing for spring? It has felt such a long winter to me and although our garden has lots of bulbs waiting to flower - green shoots everywhere- not one has yet shown its face. It is interesting trying to guess what they all are being a garden new to us. I need some sun and some colour again!

Yes I'm getting very fed up with winter.

At the weekend I bought myself two bunches of daffodils with my Aldi shopping.
They are now just flowering and they are a lovely splash of yellow and hope of spring. They are my favorite flowers because of that.

Actually, I quite like winter and getting all cosy and warm. That's what I love about Britain - having distinct seasons, each with their own charms.

I will be off home to Cheshire tomorrow. The cat-sitting week didn't work out quite the way I intended thanks to noro virus. I will miss the cats - they've just begun to be more sociable with me. Today I earned a mass of brownie points by doing a huge ironing - all the stuff that was in the washing machine and tumble drier when they left for Florida. I couldn't let DiL come home to a mound of clothes to iron. [very virtuous emoticon]

Made an appointment with the bank manager to prove I'm alive. Picked up a library book which I was persuading myself I would spend £6 on kindle so saved some money. Made another Jamie Oliver 15 min recipe but not timing myself any more. Wrote a letter to GS and sent him some recipes as he likes cooking. Tried to phone him but no answer so they may have gone way for half term. Still not paid in a cheque DH had asked me to pay in. Mary berry makes me want to bake some Madeleines

Looked at pile mountain of washing? Still waiting for machine repair man.
Supposed to be coming on Friday, just hope he can mend it.

Me too! Just hovered while Theseus had a shower, changed the dressing and am now packing up for the night. A lovely, quiet day with lots of little things achieved. He is walking more each day - right up to the top of the road and back, stopping to chat en route. Good! night night all.

Just got home , inspected my lovely stew in my brand new crockpot, lovelingly assembled before going to work.
Nada! Nothing! Still raw!

Dad requested pancakes today for tea. Thought he would eat two maybe three.
The greedy old codger managed six with lemon and sugar and then polished off a huge vanilla slice and a cuppa. Haven't seen him so happy with food for ages, he seems to be a bit bored with the whole food thing....well he is 89! But obviously feeding him pork fillet, steak and cheap things like that is not good enough so more pancakes it is! Good job his health is so good.
Oh....I tried to keep up but didn't manage it!

No DD rang. Got some soup in fridge that I made at the weekend, will probably have some of that.

Oh dear, Galen still, on the brightside, that's a meal already for tonight!

Yesterday, I went to DS1's flat and enjoyed spending time with him. I chopped his veg, changed his bed and did some ironing. We then went and did a little bit of shopping. His PA has gone to New Zealand for 3 weeks so we and DD3 are filling in! Had a lovely time chatting and being busy.

But came home and felt really down that my big, bright, beautiful boy is unable to do fairly basic tasks for himself. I think someone said something about 'Life's a b** and then you die' They were right!

My thanks to many kind GN's for your support. At this point, I wish to say a few words in praise of New Stobhill Hospital Renfrewshire, Glasgow. I was treated with the utmost kindness and respect and the staff who cared for me throughout yesterday's procedure, were cheerful and totally sympathetic.
I've to have both bowel and bladder re-repaired. Next step is to see a gynaecologist, who, together with Mr A will do their best to make me whole again. The fear of becoming doubly incontinent [for me] is far worse than more surgery.
As Mr soop was booked into a hotel just 30 mins drive from the hospital, it was agreed that I could join him. Bags will be surprised to hear that we had fish 'n' chips 'n' mushy peas. And, Jings, the choice of mushy peas [after having air pumped up an orrifice] was not a good idea...
After breakfast we left Glasgow in heavy snow. When we reached Inveraray, it was more like slushy sleet. Home again and the wind [outside] is ferocious. There is no snow on the ground but the rain is lashing down.
Rory was good for his minder. He allowed her to pet him. He even managed a purr. Tomorrow, first thing, he's off to see the vet. When he returns later in the day...he'll no longer be the alpha-cat of Kintyre.
