Size 20 - where do you buy your clothes?

I am really struggling to find classic smart (not black, I hate black) clothes, particularly long skirts, that I like. I used to buy from Elvi, which was fine for me but they closed down. Whenever I ask in shops they suggest Evans and I am afraid I find them horrid, and the waists are made for apple shaped people and are enormous on me. Help please form you lovely ladies out there x

I like Masai and Sahara. They're a bit pricey but you CAN see if you can catch a sale.

I also recommend Eshakti. It's a website which has an enormous amount of styles available and you can order them either in standard sizes OR you can pay a small fee and enter your specific measurements and have them made to measure. You get the choice of length, can change necklines, vary arm lengths free of charge. All garments have pockets (if you want them). They also are not cheap (although not shockingly expensive) but the quality is astounding. Just be very careful that you pick your particular style. So far my success rate (as in, I like the clothes) is 50% with them.

If I want to buy something smart I usually get what I want from Wallis and they do go up to size 20. I also buy from Principles, they have a Plus size range.

I really like White stuff. I am a size 18 and love their clothes.

Next and Yours I've found very good

Box 2 are very good quality although if you are shortish they can be a challenge length wise. My favourites are Seasalt for casual and I love Adini for dresses and separates.

Next do larger sizes and both Seasalt and White Stuff sell larger sizes online than they sell in the shops.

I AM apple shaped, but I get my clothes from:

Simply Be, Yours Clothing, Dorothy Perkins and Debenhams. All online, of course (although I never go into shops and certainly wouldn't try things on).

I don't like Evans either - their clothes all seem shapeless and expensive for what they are.

Probably after this pandemic and lockdown there will be a lot more people needing larger sized clothing.

Seriously though, most companies do size 18/20/22. so you have loads of choices. I buy a lot in Sainsbury's, like their design and prices. Also, use Damart catalogue, but there are loads of good catalogues clothing companies out there.

Bon Marche and Simply Be are usually good.

If you are looking for online, I love Juice Wrld Merchandise but it carries mostly cloths[1] . The quality is decent but the prices balance that. I personally think it's worth it for the price.

Box 2. Very good for 'occasion wear' but also good basic skirts, trousers, tops.

Found a lovely plain navy skirt in M&S today. I like my skirts long (as I have tree trunk legs), which are difficult to find, but this is a nice long one and lovely heavy material that hangs well. Need to keep looking though as I need more things, didn't manage to buy any thing last year.

Most of my clothes come from Bonmarche, some from Marisota.

Lots of makes are starting to go up to a size 18 or 20. I've found that slightly better makes are well cut and that I can wear an 18 or even 16. John Lewis go up to 20 in lots of their clothes and are not hugely expensive. I try to look for good trousers etc in the sale and have bought some Windsmoor wide legged trousers for £9, black trousers from Jaeger for £30 and Alexon for £15. I love Oska, too and, for something a bit more frivolous, I love Chesca. Basic T-shirts from Sainsbury's are good too.
