build snowmen
My tiny table-top offering will be no help, might just make some piles though. I really enjoy snow shovelling, I am amazed at how few people even clear their own paths. In years gone by each small shop front was always swept, but nowadays the foot traffic just turns the pavements to lethal ice. This is the first year that I have not single-handedly cleared the communal car park for my terrace of houses. It was at the weekend, so I waited to see if there was any activity, but no! In the past I have even been laughed at whilst clearing the impassable hill on my road and assisting those in difficulties. Where is the community spirit? A working party would be such fun!

It may be because a couple of years ago it was reported that individuals could be sued if anyone was injured on a path or pavement they had cleared of snow. Apparently new guidelines state that that is no longer the case, and householders and business owners are being encouraged to keep pavements clear outside their properties.

Possibly at the back of peoples' minds the fear of being sued lingers?

well done shysal with a proper snow shovel, it's not too hard. Saw a snowman today in a place where the Police often sit with a radar trap - it was holding a snow radar gun and had a proper Police hat. Made me laugh grin

Fear of being sued my a-ce! I had heard the new guidelines. Just laziness IMO.

Well done Shysal. DH (not me, note, it was a guys thing) used to be one of the gang who cleared the snow in our road every year - always the same people. And always the same people who used to stay indoors until the road was clear and then come out and drive off!! Grr angry

My nieces and nephews build igloos when we get lots of snow.. I'll have to see if I can find the pics of one they built 2yrs ago they were small but perfectly formed and big enough for 3 people to crawl into..
