Sounding off - sorry

DH is getting ready to go and see DS1 and go to a football match with him tonight. He will stay overnight and get to play with our grandsons then come home in time to take me to a concert tomorrow night. Nothing wrong with any of that but he is usually my sounding board but if I say anything he won't go.

I am so fed up with the pain from my lower back getting worse and not better. I am in a minority of one in thinking it is nothing to do with my spine but is something abdominal. If I stand up for even 15 minutes it hurts so badly and the only way to stop it is to lie down but I can't spend my life on the sofa! It sometimes even hurts just from sitting down. I don't think it is my spine as movement has no effect on it at all and I can lift heavy things without it making any difference. Being vertical is the only cause! There are no sharp pains, just acute lower back pain and what feels like period pain.

We have to drive for an hour to get to the concert tomorrow night and then I will have to get straight out of the car and into the hall and sit down immediately. I am not sure I will even be able to manage the journey there, let alone sit there all evening and then come home.

I don't want to moan to friends or family as I am such rotten company at the moment that I don't want to see anyone but I am no good at bottling things up so need to get it out somehow. Sorry to anyone who has read this far.

I have an appointment to see the doc again on Monday afternoon and the physio I know and will see privately is away until Monday so I don't think there is anything I can do but sit here feeling terrible.

Fortunately I don't have any chocolate, biscuits or anything else unhealthy in the house!

I doubt it is life threatenting and know that many of you have really terrible things to cope with but that just doesn't seem to be any consolation at the moment. So sorry, not usuually a whinger.

Just caught up moved glad things are moving forward for you. flowers

JAB Mon 28-Jan-13 22:53:14

Movedalotflowers, please be careful with the Co-codamol, I know others have said the same, but it can be very potent, my DH was on it for quite a long time doing fine on it, and suddenly he became really weird and angry, it took some persuading to go the Dr. but he did, and it was the cocodamol, and as soon as he came off it he returned to his dear self, not trying to frighten you off it just be careful. I do hope the scan will sort things out for you, and will be thinking of you. Aren't the GN's a fantastic lot, I was so greatful to all of you when I was ill, (and will be yelling for comfort again when I have togo in hospital for my op.still waiting for a date) So pleased for you that you are getting quick treatment it is so horrible being in pain so hope you will soon be free from it. Best Wishes.

Failing that moved, Ortisan is a very good, natural, laxative fruit cube! wink
Good luck.

Try the dried figs and apricots together both lightly soaked to soften a bit more, and add a sliced banana. That makes a lovely dessert. The flavours seem to complement each other wonderfully. Add a good vanilla ice cream and its just divine. It should improve the Co-codamol side effects as well as tasting good.

jeni Mon 28-Jan-13 19:42:09

Plenty of fibre! NO ALCOHOL with co codamol or you WILL feel very odd!

bookdreamer Mon 28-Jan-13 19:26:35

Hopefully you are having an MRI scan of your spine?

annodomini Mon 28-Jan-13 19:13:59

Or dried apricots - they have never failed me, even with codeine.

Nelliemoser Mon 28-Jan-13 19:07:31

movedalot More thoughts re the co-codamol. Try eating one of those ready to eat dried figs twice a day if you take the cocodamol. It might stop problems.

flowers Good Luck.

Celeb took one pill and felt most peculiar. DH has just fed me and feel a bit bettef but will have to take them with caution. Yes, I do have to pay for the scan but it is worth it. Full marks to GP for phoning them while I was there and asking how much, nicely done. He doesn't know my financial position and was just doing to so I knew what I was committing too.

Thanks everyone for your concern. I will let you know the results.

gracesmum Mon 28-Jan-13 18:16:46

Do take care with the Co-codamol or you might have to change your GN name!

annodomini Mon 28-Jan-13 18:10:05

Tegan Mon 28-Jan-13 16:56:41

Blood test should be back the following day so could ring up to get the results from the triage nurse.

celebgran Mon 28-Jan-13 16:38:53

thanks for letting us know movedealot glad you getting stuff sorted, will you have to pay for scan?
co codamol should help but have you had it before can make you constipated.

Anne58 Mon 28-Jan-13 16:38:16

At least he's doing something positive, thank goodness!

Movedalot Mon 28-Jan-13 16:36:04

Just come back from the doc's. He has given me co-codamol and wants me to have a scan and a blood test. The blood test will be done tomorrow but the NHS scan would take 2 -3 weeks and then presumably a wait for the results so he is arranging a private scan which will probably be on Wednesday and I will get the results there and then.

Movedalot Mon 28-Jan-13 13:27:55

Thanks Ceesnan I am happy for any and all suggestions as I am near to the end of my tether.
