This morning as I was getting dressed, I dropped an earring stud. I like to think I've trained myself to look down immediately I drop something so that I see where it lands. It worked perfectly, and I thought: 'I know, I'll pass on this wise and helpful tip to Gransnetters, and they will be so grateful.' As I thought this and began to plan what to say, I dropped the main earring.

I'm still looking for it.

I find that too. I put it down to my being right-handed.

I was once on a training course and noticed that an older lady was wearing only one (very big and long, colourful) earring so asked if I could help her to look for the missing one. She replied that no, she hadn't lost the earring, but that she only ever wears one because it prompted people to talk to her. She lived alone and said that over the years she had had some wonderful conversations and actually made new friends because of her 'missing' earring. She turned out to be a very interesting woman.

Another trick is to walk around in your bare feet , you'll find it then, I did and the earing[?earring] imbedded into my foot - lucky me smile

When I first wore contact lenses they were the old fashioned hard ones that lasted indefinitely and were expensive to replace. I became incredibly efficient at searching almost any surface, although mainly carpet, to find them. They didnt just land flat, they would land sideways in the carpet pile, down the edge between carpet and wall, stick to the sides of furniture and jars of make-up. I once fond one in my hair.

The skill has remained with me, although I do not wear contact lenses anymore and whether or at home or staying with family, if anything small gets dropped on the floor I will get called in to find it.
