Good news. The ladies only classes have stopped at my leisure centre.

Myself and a few other men have complained to our local leisure centre about classes which only ladies can use.
Our argument was they were not providing men only classes and if the ladies wanted ladies only classes without equivalent men only classes the ladies which use these classes should pay extra as it is a council leisure centre for everybody to use.
They have done a survey and found that none of the ladies going to these classes were bothered about men being in them.
As far as I am concerned any ladies who want ladies only classes should go to private gyms.
The membership fees are a lot higher than the local leisure centre but that is their problem.

Who was also your mother-in-law later on. Yes, I think we have your biography straight now.

HUNTERF Sun 10-Feb-13 17:12:53

Hi absent

She has got to have been correct.
She was the headmistress of a school.
I don't really know if she thought she was putting me in that class as a punishment or if she expected me to be doing Bums and Tums 50 years later.
I had befriended her daughter at that point but I don't think she was sure at that time she would become my mother in law.

No comment Ana - clearly the wisest course of action.

HUNTERF I cannot believe that anyone who suggested a keep fit class to you or anyone fifty years ago – which sure as hell was never called bums and tums then – would actually give a fig what you or anyone were doing all these years later. Btw Do you feel like revealing your waist and hip measurement to show us how much benefit you have derived from fifty years of bums and tums? Or not – it doesn't matter.

HUNTERF Sun 10-Feb-13 18:54:46

Hi absent

It was called Keep Fit 50 years ago.
The names have changed over the years but I think Bums and Tums is about the closest equivalent.
I was sent to this class. I had no option.

Condemned to a life of penal servitude in the Bums and Tums class....sad

Faye Mon 11-Feb-13 05:43:10

It's not the fifty years that have done the damage, it's the Bums and Tums classes. hmm

I hope this thread goes on forever - it's the funniest thing I've read in weeks (well, since the last time I read the thread) grin

It was called music and movement when i was in infant school.

Oldgreymare Thu 14-Feb-13 19:01:23

Gosh Jess I taught that! smile

annodomini Thu 14-Feb-13 19:01:44

Music and movement for infants and music and movement for juniors - the teacher used to bring the school radio wireless into the school hall and we did things like bunny jumps.

Oldgreymare Thu 14-Feb-13 19:04:49

Then it became 'Modern Educational Dance' !

HUNTERF Thu 14-Feb-13 19:33:42

We had a tape recorder at school.
We did not do things like bunny jumps in the secondary school.
We did things like the grapevine and plank.

I have just found out they are keeping 1 ladies only class open at another centre about 4 miles away.
There is no direct bus to it but any ladies who want that class could go there by car or bike.

Frank....you're priceless! grin

Riverwalk Thu 14-Feb-13 19:46:35

FFS! grin

They'd better get a move on before you and your pals have it closed down.

Lilygran Thu 14-Feb-13 20:15:05

Aargh! The zombies are here!

HUNTERF Thu 14-Feb-13 20:18:53

Hi Riverwalk

We would like to have it closed down but there are not enough of us.
It is on a Tuesday morning at 10.30am.

Now you're just getting silly, Frank. It's four miles away. Your classes are not affected. Perhaps the men there aren't as obsessive as you are about men's 'rights'. hmm

gracesmum Thu 14-Feb-13 20:51:15

Frank - you sound like a man on a mission - but are you really such a spoilsport? For heaven's sake, it's as if it's become a point of principle now, can't you live and let live? confused

HUNTERF Thu 14-Feb-13 20:51:53

Hi Ana

There may be no men at presest who will be affected by this class but there may be one who works shifts may want to join this class in future.

I have been told they had a men only class a few years ago at this centre but nobody attended it so it was closed.

Frank

gracesmum Thu 14-Feb-13 20:56:14

Quite.

Ana Thu 14-Feb-13 20:59:01

Well, I'd say just mind your own business Frank. You've got your own way at your centre, let go......!
