There is absolutely no fun in behaving. Much better to be a little bit naughty sometimes. wink

feet you are lucky to be alive.
Kids, I don't know.

Just remembered the evening when I was doing an NCT class in my not very big house. about a dozen mums and dads crammed in on cushions on floor doing breathing practice. Rest of family in their respective bedrooms.
Suddenly mums and dads all started giggling. DS dangling an action man out of his bedroom window so that he appeared to be abseiling past the window behind my head grin

We used to get into the sewage works, and play with the railway lines and trucks in there...

Notsogrand Thu 31-Jan-13 09:20:25

Oh, the fun we all had before the invention of the microchip! grin

The Glasgow version of the 'chap the door & run' game was played in tenements. It involved tying together the door handles of opposing house in the 'close', banging on the doors & listening to the shouting as neither householder could open their doors. Such fun smile Not that I ever did such a thing.

My father-in-law told us a trick he and his mates got up to as children, back when most houses had the sneck type door handles (remember those?). Apparently, they`d put a drawing pin, pointed end up, on the door sneck, but dip it in horse or dog muck first, then watch as folk pressed down to open the door, pricked themselves...............then put their finger in their mouth to suck it!! Yuck!!

Mr P has told me about a "game" that he and his chums used to play in the park called "Pookying" (or it might be "pookieing"?)

Anyway, it sounds vile and I'm sure they made it up, can't possibly have been the sort of thing that young urchins up and down the land would have done, unlike the door knocking thing.

Nelliemoser Wed 30-Jan-13 23:06:08

The tying up door knockers that is. Not crazy foam.

Nelliemoser Wed 30-Jan-13 23:04:07

Notso My mum used to talk about doing that as a child and she would have been 93 this year so that would have been at least 80 yrs ago.

Its sounds fun though, but when I knew about it we were no longer living in a terraced house. Knocking on doors and running away was fun though. I used to rollerskate down the path! I apologise now to the poor people we did it to.
grin

Even better if it's really snowing!

glassortwo Wed 30-Jan-13 22:06:58

grin will have to remember that.

Notsogrand Wed 30-Jan-13 22:03:26

Crazy Foam was good....throw a length of string out of a bedroom window at night, loop it over a tree branch or lamp-post by the footpath, form a snowball of foam around the end of the string and let it dangle at head height.
The reactions of passers by was great, especially when you jiggled the string.

Ana Wed 30-Jan-13 21:44:51

You're all reprobates! I never did anything like that.....[halo emoticon]

Two of the older kids in the street took DGS to played knockie nine doors but didn't tell him you had to run away and he waited for the door to open, the guy in the house dragged him home to complain grin

Notsogrand Wed 30-Jan-13 21:38:44
