You don't want em too young. You need some experience!

It is all Google's fault. I think you can stop it somehow. I shall have a look online and find out how.

Right, if you are using Firefox (as I do), then in the Tools menu, choosing "options" gives you a chance under the "privacy" tab to tick "tell websites I do not wish to be tracked" and on the same tab you can delete your cookies, which are probably causing a lot of the unwanted ads.

On the "content" tab you can block pop-up windows, too. If there are no pop-up windows, no-one can pop an advert up.

There is also a "start private browsing " option on the "tools" menu, but I have not used that so am not sure how it works.

In Internet Explorer the "options"menu has similar choices, which I am not familiar with, but they probably do much the same things.

Hmm! when I sign into my email account I get a dating site 'pop-up' asking me to tick the age of the guy I would like to meet! confused

I have been bombarded with mail and advertising for wedding bouquets/hats/beauty treatments ever since I started browsing for stuff for DS2s wedding.

Whe I turn on the computer I get a load of advertising down the side of the screen presumably based on my browsing.
So, an email from the Chairman of our Thursday group, headed Umbrellas, was presumably responsible for repeated ads for "Umbrella" companies for self-employed contractors (!)
I admit to looking at the occasional pair of shoes online too, which is why I get ads for Hotter shoes - fair enough- but also vertiginous heels with the irresistible invitation to "Buy one get one free". What on earth would I want with just one shoe? grin
