I do make a shopping list but always add to it when in the store and always have a list of birthdays for throughtout the year, each month I will check on it and buy the cards and put the relevent name on it,but cards have also been known to have been mislaid only to turn up again when the birthday has been and gone,so must do a list to remind where I put things.confused

Just shopping and Christmas for me unless there is a big event coming up like DS3's wedding next year for which I will make lists.

DH has never liked me writing lists but now he is having to do the shopping is coming round to my point of view.

I think seeing a list written down and being able to cross them off one by one is quite satisfying Gally and when you have so much on your mind (as you obviously have sad ) it can be a way of coping with a little bit at a time.

I loved stationary as a child too. Still do. Let loose in Paperchase I come out with all sorts of lovely books. Some even come complete with special indexing (ideal for us list makers) grin

Yes I have added something to a list in order to have the pleasure of crossing it off shysal so you are not alone!

I haven't quite gone as far as making lists of my lists yet Gagagran I wonder how that works? hmm

I am frequently told that My 8 year-old DGD is "just like you" because she likes making lists and planning things carefully. I have always made lists but have had to stop myself from making lists of lists - a step too far even for we meticulous organisers!

Anyone who, like me, adds something to the list which you have already done just for the pleasure of crossing it off?
In front of me on my table are - shopping list, calorie counting tally, open month -to-view diary, and various post-it notes in date order showing things to remember including some from the diary. I also keep a pad and pencil beside my bed for when I have inspiration during the night!

Now I am single and have to think for myself 24/7 I make lists every day. Things to do, things already done so I don't do them again, shopping lists, birthday lists.....it just goes on .However I am very adept at losing lists and start again thus having at least 2 for each subject on the go at any one time hmm. I also have a daily reminder alarm on my phone for appointments which I am more than likely to forget. I also write a daily diary (when I remember!) to remind me of what I've done and when. I'm hoping that once my brain becomes used to all this 'doing' things will become easier - I never used to be so useless and put it down to the long list (!) of changes brought on by widowhood and the sudden plunge into grieving.
When I was a child I too loved making lists, but I just loved the smell of pen, paper and ink. My treat after visiting the dentist was to be taken to the local stationers to choose a new pencil or notepad (and have a good sniff at the same time) - small pleasures compared to today's children smile

Its my motto for life ginny.

Why do today, what you can put off until tomorrow smile

I am a list maker. Each day I write a list of reminders and things to do. Makes me feel good as I cross items off. Mind you often the next days list includes several items from the day before ! Wonder what that says about me ? hmm

Its the sticking to them that I have the biggest problem with whenim64. I too write Christmas lists and put budget figures against each name. I very rarely stick to them though. hmm

I know what you mean about making lists on the phone. Its not the same and I much prefer my trusty old notebook/diary.

The only lists I make are Christmas and shopping lists. Technology has mucked it up for me since I started making lists on my phone's Notes app. On several occasions, I have got part way round a supermarket and found I have inadvertently deleted the rest of my list whilst holding the phone in my hand. Back to paper hmm

I was watching my (almost 7 year old) GD the other evening. She had her pad and paper and was making lists.

My favourite colours
My favourite people
My favourite teachers etc. smile

I loved lists when I was a child and still make them today albeit with more boring headings such as; Bills to pay etc.
