Good morning and welcome to Gransnet. No snow here in the North-east, but grey sky to the north and blue sky to the south. I haven't been out yet but there will almost certainly be a bitingly cold wind – it lasts all winter up here.

Bez Mon 11-Feb-13 07:59:04

Lots of rain here in France - yesterday was very cold too but not put my nose outside yet today.

Thick snow here in the South East, a couple of inches deep already and still coming down.

Sunny and blue sky in South Devon smile

Gally Mon 11-Feb-13 09:06:28

Just looked out on a sunny coastal Fife. We must be the only area in the country to have had no snow this winter wink

itsnevertoolate Mon 11-Feb-13 09:11:49

Yup,no snow in the North East (yet....!)
Which is good news,or would have had to cancel another hospital appointment! (sigh) - Lets hope it holds off for the Friday appontment too!
Looks pretty cold out there,brrr!

Still.....
Snowdrops are flowering, and the Hellebore too (christmas rose?) Other bulbs are springing up everywhere..Can spring really be near?.....
Oh well,if not,and more snow comes,at least we have a decent snowshovel!!wink and I have icegrippers for my boots-they are very good (Yaktrax)

Snow has really only started in southern Oxfordshire in the last few hours and has really only got going in the last hour. DH, currently in Herts with DD is about to drive home and says there is several inches of snow where he is.

I have had primroses out since last September, just one plant that seems to be confused by the weather or thinks it is a winter pansy. It is just by the start of the path to the front door and is a welcome sight whenever I see it. We also have snowdrops and Hellebores, and winter jasmine.

annodomini Mon 11-Feb-13 09:36:10

Snowing lightly in this part of Oxfordshire but not settling because the ground is very wet. Give it time!

AlieOxon Mon 11-Feb-13 09:44:50

Morning all.
Snowing very gently here in Didcot ...I just woke up after a broken night and breakfast at 5am.
Saw anno yesterday and had tea and a long talk...our fathers probably met in 1944! Hi anno!
Aiming for Oxford today, as both focus in Didcot and B&Q in Oxford have closed, and my daughter is looking for wallpaper and I always like a DIY browse!
I had trouble finding an ordinary binder (not a great big one) for looseleaf info on Fri, but wandered into the new charity shop on Broadway and got 6 for 30p each - yes I know, but it's always better to stock up when things are there!

janey Mon 11-Feb-13 09:59:08

Just dull and overcast on the isle of wight. We have also had a few promroses
since the middle of last month?!
Welcome Micheal.

Faye Mon 11-Feb-13 10:00:43

Smoky here, I went outside earlier and it smelt of smoke and there was a haze of smoke all around. Apparently it is from a fire about three hours drive away.

Shrove Tuesday OGM I might have savoury pancakes for tea. smile

petallus Mon 11-Feb-13 10:18:00

Janey are you on the Isle of Wight?

I was thinking of spending a few days there in mid April for my 70th birthday.

Thought I'd go away so family don't have to bother with surprise parties and so on.

What's it like?

Ariadne Mon 11-Feb-13 10:20:51

Quite bright in North Devon too, Grannylin! But very chilly. We got drenched yesterday, though. But I suppose that's par for the course here...smile

agapanthus Mon 11-Feb-13 10:42:38

Yes Ariadne, good old Devon! though I think other places have been just as wet ,if not wetter this year.Bright and sunny in west Devon after frosty start.Just what I need after a tooth extraction!!

Five minutes ago the sky cleared and now we are being treated to some weak sun. Here in SW France it has been drizzling like a British winter for some time now. Not what is normal here. We have as much rain as much of the UK but it usually comes in a great downpour and then brightens up. My worst winter since I moved here in 2000. But I do go for a walk most days. It doesn't do to let the weather get the better of you while you can still get around.

glassortwo Mon 11-Feb-13 10:57:09

The sun is shining in the North East very cold but we didnt get the snow that was forecast for last night and this morning.... long may it last sunshine

Movedalot Mon 11-Feb-13 10:57:17

Woke up to snow here in Malvern but it has stopped now although it looks as if there could be more to come. Hope not too much as have to go for x-ray at 2pm.

Allie I don't want to make assumptions but if you are over 60 you can get a special card at B & Q and get 10% off on Wednesdays.

Welcome Michael enjoy!

glassortwo Mon 11-Feb-13 11:01:45

Hello Michael smile

Ariadne Mon 11-Feb-13 11:57:15

Gally we only had a brief flurry here in Bideford last time - after all those snowy winters in Kent I still find it hard to believe!

Smoluski Mon 11-Feb-13 14:47:24

Light covering of snow here in Norfolk freezing cold grey and damp, but apart from that its ok....how do you do michael
