... lots of elastic bands!

You?

I think it's like those heads of barley grass we used to put up our coat cuffs as children that gradually climbed up inside our sleeves. My rugs are on top of carpets and I think the way the carpet tufts lie makes the rugs creep. I've tried sticky underlay - it just creeps along with the rugs, ever so friendly.

We had a rug that used to climb up on to the furniture when your back was turned, especially during the night. The worst place was over the dining table legs so you could trip when carrying crockery. I had two of these room size Persian rugs and got so fed up I gave them to DD. She has never had a problem with them and they stay in place. I, obviously was never meant to have them.

Roseyk Oh no they don't! Our hearth rug creeps up onto the hearth every day in spite of it's immobilisers. DH has worked out that it is because we always step onto it from the same one side. This piece of scientific deduction is completely useless in practical terms (unless we can get Santa to call thrice daily x365) wink

Daisy that is so annoying isnt it rugs that have a mind of their own and move around the room at their leisure smile

Did you know there are sticky strips that you can buy now that keeps the rug firmly in its place.

When my daughter was small, we always insisted she eat something for breakfast, even if it was just a slice of toast. My husband used to supervise breakfasts as I had to leave early for work. When I decided to tidy up the kitchen, I found what could only be described as a 'toast mountain' under and behind the chest freezer. Jenny had been tossing her toast over her shoulder when her father's back was turned :-)

Crumpled tissues which moult from my sleeves and pockets and slide behind the bed from under the pillow. And the ones which stay in my pockets usually get shredded in the washing machine.

Socks, books, notebooks, mugs...

Oldgreymare Thu 14-Feb-13 19:03:11

Gally smile that made me giggle!

Gally Thu 14-Feb-13 18:48:57

Specs. I'm always losing them so usually have about 7 pairs on the go at once. Found the green ones under a bed this week which had been missing since before Christmas blush. Purple ones have been missing since October, but I am ever hopeful.....perhaps if I did a bit more cleaning they would surface. I lose at least 2 pairs a day, but they usually appear before nightfall wink

AlieOxon Thu 14-Feb-13 18:46:18

i put all odd socks in one place...eventually some match. Although when I did this for my kids, they had grown out of them when I got a pair!

I find rubber bands - and lose biros. I have lost my red one now, and I need it.

Ana Thu 14-Feb-13 18:34:32

34??!! And you keep them, Hilda? shock

HildaW Thu 14-Feb-13 18:32:23

I have 34 odd socks.........just me....not even including husbands. Where the flippin 'eck have their partners gone?

Daisyanswerdo Thu 14-Feb-13 18:11:16

My mobile phone! I wasn't exactly tidying - moving an armchair to put it back firmly on a rug that keeps creeping towards the fireplace. My very small flat is beyond tidying, she said hoping to convince herself.

I'm feeling smug now my 'big' cupboard is sorted. Of course I've no idea where anything is anymore grin

janeainsworth Thu 14-Feb-13 12:29:59

We are expecting DD, DSil and DGD tomorrow, they are staying for a few days so I have been getting the rooms ready.
This morning DH found an unwashed baby bottle under the cot blushblush
It must have been there since last summer which was the last time the DGDs were hereblushblush

Roseyk Thu 14-Feb-13 12:02:17

Paper work that I do not need, loads of it!!

gillybob Thu 14-Feb-13 11:59:46

......PEAS

Where do they come from?

Oldgreymare Thu 14-Feb-13 11:01:51

I belong to the Merlot school of tidying.
Altho' why am I always left with a few things with no 'homes to go to' when I do get to the final room?
So I suppose the answer to the question is: lots of bits and bobs!

vampirequeen Thu 14-Feb-13 10:56:09

This thread encouraged me to sort out the 'big' cupboard....you know the house dumping ground.

Why did I start?????????? sad

Spread over my kitchen floor and tops are lots of things I thought I'd thrown aways, lots of things I should have thrown away and a few useful things. The problem is now that I have to put stuff back.

Faye Thu 14-Feb-13 10:43:51

Funny kitty. smile

Movedalot Thu 14-Feb-13 09:58:26

Kitty grin

kittylester Thu 14-Feb-13 09:49:30

Something better to do. grin

Movedalot Thu 14-Feb-13 09:48:48

Don't understand the expression either kitty I think it is one of those things people do when they are bored grin

I just sometimes come across things DH has put in a pile somewhere to put away 'somtime' . Usually all the stuff I have given him previously to put away.

Nelliemoser Thu 14-Feb-13 09:13:35

Often bits of paper with useful things on; that I can never quite decide where to put so that I can find them when I need them.

Nelliemoser Thu 14-Feb-13 09:09:27

merlot Oh! I know that feeling! grin
