I love Phase Eight too! Our lovely son and daughter treated us to a couple of days in the glorious Lake District to celebrate our birthdays. We started the day with breakfast, a wonderful full body massage, then a four mile walk in startling and unexpected sunshine, followed by a leisurely swim, seven course taster-menu-dinner, and now to bed, to reflect upon how truly blessed we are!

Tegan Thu 28-Feb-13 23:07:25

I love Phase Eight.

....on the plus side realised that N Power had reimbursed me with nearly £400 that I'd overpaid [I think my new central heating system is far more efficient than the old one] so, by making a huge saving by having a water meter and halving the cost of my broadband/telephone bill I'm feeling well chuffed with my efforts to cut down on my outgoings. And also felt that the new computer system at work was making a bit more sense smile. Now to crash out on the sofa again....

Tegan Thu 28-Feb-13 22:37:49

Slowly moving everything back into the living room and hall after the carpet clean. Seem to spend all of my life moving stuff from one room to another. Apart from a lie down on the sofa for an hour part way through the afternoon I've been on the go since 7.30 this morning. Thankfully in a weeks time I've got two weeks off work [hurrah!]. I'm cream crackered yet again.

Galen say it in French..

harrigran Thu 28-Feb-13 19:04:07

I had a really lazy day, got up and got dressed, DH drove me to a neighbouring city where I met six other Grans for lunch. DH collected me and dove me home and is now preparing dinner, he is very special smile

gracesmum Thu 28-Feb-13 18:44:33

Galen Thu 28-Feb-13 18:29:03

Ariadne Thu 28-Feb-13 18:13:04

"is enough" ?? Need to lie down.

Ariadne Thu 28-Feb-13 18:12:12

gracesmum Be assured, I have done s*d all not much today, at least as far as house work is enough. As the French might say, an egg is an egg. smile

Galen Thu 28-Feb-13 17:51:04

All I did was sit in a tribunal. Came home, sorted and chucked some papers and poured myself a drink.

numberplease Thu 28-Feb-13 17:43:05

Soop, you`re amazing! I hope that you and Mr. Soop can sort out the hoiuse problems to your satisfaction, the powers that be certainly seem out to thwart you.
Gracesmum, how do you persuade Grace to go for long walkies? Our Heidi would get to the end of the river bank, about 400 yards, then decide it was time to go home again!
Done nothing much today, apart from getting tea in the oven straight after dinner, giving me all afternoon to be lazy.

Ana Thu 28-Feb-13 17:39:11

gracesmum, take heart! You've done a lot more than I have today - didn't even go to work as I've been stricken by horrible virus which I thought I'd managed to avoid...done nothing but slob all day!

Ella46 Thu 28-Feb-13 17:18:42

soop I don't know how you manage such energetic gardening........I would love to sit and watch you through a window grin

gracesmum Thu 28-Feb-13 17:15:13

Oh also took Grace for a decent walkie - she's out for the count now!

gracesmum Thu 28-Feb-13 17:14:32

I don't think I'm ging to read this thread any more, I was feeling very pleased that I had shaken off whatever black dog had gobbled up my "get up and go" this morning and it was with an effort I suggested Gracesdad and I go out. We went off to neighbouring townlet for lunch and a mosey round the weekly market where I got some very cheap veggies, a couple of scarves at a fraction of the price I paid recently in a little shop in London, then tea/cofee at the Deli run by ny friend Dee and home to prune/tidy up the hydrangeas by the front door.
Then I read what everybody else had done yesterday and am humbled, nay shamed at your activity.
So now I am going to have another cup of tea, some suggestive biscuits and watch Antiques Roadshow - so there!
PS good to get GD out, he seems just about back to normal after last week's little strokes smile

soop Thu 28-Feb-13 17:04:16

Bags smile

Bags Thu 28-Feb-13 17:01:31

Rotten luck, anno, but sunshinr does make a difference smile

soop, you are one tough and impressive lady! I'm crossing all fingers and toes and sending flowers.

annodomini Thu 28-Feb-13 16:54:25

Was just winding down after CAB today when a colleague who had left early rang from the car park to tell me I had a puncture. Oh joy!! I have to say that the Mpleasant young AA man came very quickly and put the emergency spare wheel on for me. I've dropped the offending wheel off at the garage for the tyre to be either fixed or replaced - it has a nail in it. Just my luck. But it has been another glorious day which makes me feel good despite the tyre. My joints feel so much better when the air pressure is high too. Long may it last. Will March come in like a lion or a lamb?

soop Thu 28-Feb-13 16:45:12

Grannylin Well done! flowers

anno ella nanaeg Awoke in the wee small hours and decided that I'd give the garden another few hours hard work, once I'd had breakfast. Not right away. hmm I'm like that...will swear that I cannot under any circumstances, put in more than an hour of the heavy stuff. So,off I went at 10:30 and I've worked ever since. We have a stretch of back garden that borders on the woodland. It is part wild and looks lovely left that way. Over the winter the ground cover has become tangled and totally out of control. Our gardener pals were to tackle it, when they can spare the time. I've managed the task over two days and the results are pleasing. grin Rory lay in a canvas chair and did a little overseeing, inbetween cat-napping. wink

Mr soop was hoping to submit the drawings of the wee hoos to the planners tomorrow. However, we received a call from the builder who had yet more "uncomfortable news" for us. It's all a bit complicated and I've no wish to bore you with the detail. Thing is, we now have an extra £2,500 tacked on to the cost of the build as we'll need a new air heat source. Three months have passed since we first asked for an estimate and we are no nearer reaching a conclusion. From week to week costs are increasing.

Mr soop is sitting at the table and staring at his beautiful drawings. If we wish to continue he needs to do yet more calculations and ammend the plans. He's such a good man. He deserves a break. Perhaps with patience, we'll overcome the hurdles and succeed.

harrigran Wed 27-Feb-13 22:47:48

Brave lady Grannylin hope it heals quickly.

celebgran Wed 27-Feb-13 21:57:59

Gosh that was quick! Take it was not wisdom one even so hope you feeling better now!

Elegran Wed 27-Feb-13 20:11:58

Went out into the garden with the intention of spending an hour tidying, so started on the patch where the compost bins are. Filled a compost bin with soggy dead leaves, cut off several tree branches which were encroaching and catching in my hair, raked more leaves off the lawn. Felt virtuous and went indoors, found I had only been half an hour. Did NOT go out again.

Tried to make sense of Facebook. Partially successful. Now have several FB friends who are also GNers (one an ex-GNer)

Sat in sunshine in conservatory finishing "The 100 year-old man who climbed out of the window and vanished" Fell asleep.
