Hi folks!

Galen Sun 17-Feb-13 14:50:12

I'm now listening to a cd that DS sent me for my birthday (in December!)
It's the Tallis scholars singing Orlando Lassus Missa Osculeteur Me.
It's lovely!
Very relaxingsmile

MiceElf Sun 17-Feb-13 16:11:02

That's lovely. Have you got their recording of Thomas Tompkins' The Great Service? Highly recommended.

Galen Sun 17-Feb-13 16:48:23

No, might get it someday!

Galen Sun 17-Feb-13 17:05:16

My 92 year old aunt has just phoned me to say she's now got an iPad!

Butty Sun 17-Feb-13 17:22:57

That's brilliant, Galen. I would like to hope that whatever the ipad's equivalent is in 30 years I might do the same. smile I can but hope.

I've had a day at the seaside ~ sun, sea, sand, sandwiches and a flask, in a bitingly cold wind. Bracing and invigorating. sunshine

Galen Sun 17-Feb-13 17:26:35

Brrrrrrr!

A beautiful, sunny day here in Devon - I'll try to upload a photo. Drove DH (who has bad cabin fever) down to the quay, and we walked along by the water - slowly- and remembered that this was one of the reasons for moving here. Sun glinting, tide in, green hills (not too far away...)

Poor old chap, the stick has set him back again and he is trying so hard to deal with it.but walks and sunshine do help!

The weather drew me to the garden - masses of snowdrops, daffs in bud and rhododendron praecox almost bursting into bloom. I found the secateurs and set about the climbing roses and buddleias. I do love pruning!

Bez Sun 17-Feb-13 18:00:58

I love pruning too but often get carried away and go too far!!
Had a mixed day - nice walk around the market this morning and then this afternoon decided to set up the old PC as had sorted out a table etc for it. PC too old and tired now and we have major technical issues in this house with it so think we need to replace it - glad to have the iPad!!

Marelli Sun 17-Feb-13 18:06:09

Took a cup of tea and my book into the garden while DH worked at tidying it. So many shoots coming up! I'd got up about 6.30 am to hear a blackbird warbling away - wonderful! sunshine

I cooked a roast dinner and went to sleep on sofa. #sunnylivingroom

Beautiful sunny spring day. Hacked down a holly tree - took ages. Was in the garden for what I though was a couple of hours, looked at my watch and realised I should have been having lunch with a friend; arrived 2 hours late, drank far too much and just got home - Oh happy days grin

Galen Sun 17-Feb-13 18:26:29

grin

Marelli Sun 17-Feb-13 18:32:56

Sound good to me, Gally! grin

Cooked and delivered Sunday lunch to DD1 who is recovering from bronchitis. The DGSs had just got back from football so were ravenous...and muddy!

Nelliemoser Sun 17-Feb-13 22:24:59

Picked up my train tickets to get to the airport on Saturday. Walked around the town park in the sunshine. Came home and had the curry leftovers for lunch. Yum! Cleared a few weeds and pruned a few shrubs until the wind got up and it got really cold.
Now treating myself to a Sunday night Father Ted double bill.
Bliss. moon moon moon

Out with the dogs before 8am for a lovely brisk 30 minute walk. Watched a recording of Restoration man whilst doing the ironing. Nipped to shops, walked dogs again and then pottered around the garden for a couple of hours......Sheer bliss.

This afternoon I went for a walk in the sunshine with the Wonderful Man and our children and grandchildren; then we ended up in one of the local hotels for coffee and a cream tea whilst playing 'pass the baby' with our week old grandson. We all had a barely restrained fit of giggles when a very elderly hunchbacked lady in a green cardy stood up to leave and revealed her (sorry, but it's true) hooked nosed, bushy browed, wizened face to our grandson. His eyes widened and, totally mesmerised, he shouted, "A MONSTER"!!! I tried my best to distract him, but because he thought we hadn't seen he added "Look, it's a MONSTER in a green coat". Fortunately the said lady was completely oblivious and left without realising the stir she'd caused, but grandson was not to be dissuaded from his understanding that he'd spotted a real monster. She really did look remarkably similar to THIS. shock

I knew DS2 was calling in yesterday with his lovely fiance (I love saying that word soppy person I am) and we all had a good chat about plans for the wedding then DD arrived with DGS5 and it was a pleasure to see my eldest DC and youngest DC getting down to basic's about plans for the big day they really are grown up's nowsmileThe only fly in the ointment was that DGS5 had been to football and as team goal-keeper just happens to spend a lot of time on the ground in the mud/grass grin so DD had washed the jersey 4 times to try and get the mud stains out to no avail I have soaked it for 1hr in oxy-power and no differance so has anyone any other ideas I need to get it back to normal for Thursday.shock

Another springlike day. I've even managed to put some washing on the line. There's a very frisky flock of long-tailed tits flying from garden to garden. I've seen a lot of them this winter.

Had my hair cut this morning ready for Oz next week and just happened to look into TKMaax on the way past, which is of course disaster where I am concerned. Exited with a King sized duvet set, a Tshirt in aid aid of Red Nose Day for SIL in Oz, an Emma Bridgwater mug in aid of RND and a large garden wrought iron thingie with a prong on the bottom end and a wiggley thing at the other with a ceramic ball on top - just had to have it; I think it's for training a plant up !confused. I only went in to look at suitcases - duh!

Gally Mon 18-Feb-13 12:59:58

Ga grin
and flowers and commiserations too

nanapug Mon 18-Feb-13 13:27:55

Hope you have an amazing time in Oz Gally xx
I have had a perm this morning. I hate it but have no choice as my hair is so straight and flat with out one. I also hate the smell for days after, even though she rinses it extremely well. The good part of it is that she is a nice girl, comes to my house and is not too expensive. My DGS has spent the whole morning on the Wii, as a consequence, so need to get out for a walk with him this afternoon.
