Hi folks!

Oh dear Grannylin - that was a bit fast. My dentist makes you stay for half an hour after an extraction even if you have someone with you. Hope it heals as quickly as it came out. grin

Grannylin Wed 27-Feb-13 20:04:20

Glad you are feeling a bit better ga.Had a tooth out today.Appointment at 2pm, out of the surgery at 2.15! Had to sit in the car for a while to recover- felt quite wobbly.Thought the dentist was just making a fuss about having someone to take you home, so didn't bother shock

teaching, translating, lunch with a young friend from UK, cleaning, more teaching, more translating - hoovering and kitchen floor.

Skiing tomorrow.

I cleaned windows today - which happily coincided with a viewing
Mr. B cooked supper this evening - which was lovely.
Mr. B didn't use the overhead fan.
Result - windows running in condensation.

You win some, you lose some........ sunshine

Not a word I use often, but right now I am gobsmacked!
My 21 year old son popped out a few minutes ago and has just returned via the kitchen, bringing me a cup of tea - along with chocolates and flowers!! He really is a lovely young man. smile

To all other poorly people - flowers
Harrigran - great detective work!

Anno I could no longer stand the sight of the small windows in the garage yesterday and despite the fact that I am not allowed to store anything except my car in there (because it's 'his' territory) I went in and cleaned them. The procedure involved the removal of large quantities of spiders' webs and spider corpses [deep shame emoticon].
I can really recommend cleaning windows way of feeling smug and self-satisfied for several days afterwards.
I am definitely a lady who lunches. Met my old school friend in Newcastle today and tomorrow it's the Newcastle meet-up grin

annodomini Wed 27-Feb-13 19:14:39

If this sunny weather goes on I will have no option but to clean the windows. sad

nanaej Wed 27-Feb-13 19:06:08

soop hope you have soaked some aches away & well done Ariadne I am feeling rather lazy having read your posts. I went to London for a masterclass with a chef (Nathan Outlaw)! Took an old school friend..we reminisced about our times in school Home Ec classes!

Ariadne Wed 27-Feb-13 18:53:44

FANFARE emoticon! I did housework! All is sparkling (well, the bits anyone can see) and do I feel fulfilled? Nope. Just knackered. Smells nice, though, and should last a while...

annodomini Wed 27-Feb-13 18:26:11

soop! Do look after yourself. That sounds like a very hard day's work and Rory has the right attitude!

harrigran Wed 27-Feb-13 18:17:19

I knew the CCTV would come in useful, a neighbour had two bikes stolen during the night. We ran back our CCTV and timed the theft down to the second, young PC came and watched too. The scumbag had a distictive walk so if he has a police record he will almost certainly be caught.

Ella46 Wed 27-Feb-13 17:14:27

soop hope you can still move tomorrow sunshine

It was such a lovely day that I had to hobble to the shops and pootle about for an hour on my trusty crutch.

After I staggered home shock, I was too wacked to do my chores and I've been lolling about on the sofa ever since hmm not doing that again tomorrow

soop Wed 27-Feb-13 17:02:39

I'm hoping that you lot have been enjoying your day. smile
Have been in the garden since 11:00...had two mugs of coffee and a coconut macaroon at lunchtime [sitting on a moss-covered hillock.] Mr soop has just helped me to shift eleven heaped barrow-loads of "stuff" and cannot believe that I've made such a huge improvement. Almighty big BRAG! blush
Rory has not budged from a sunny spot well away from the spade, hoe, shears, hose, and big bristle brush. A hard slog of a day, with pleasing results. Need to take a hot shower and some pain killers. Can't let Mr soop know that I'm hurting from head to toe. He tends to get angry He's been putting the finishing touches to the drawings for the hoped for wee hoos. Eager to submit for planning approval. moon

Tegan Wed 27-Feb-13 10:59:28

Having some carpets cleaned. It's wonderful just sitting back and seeing someone else clean my house [boy does it need doing]. I could get used to this!

Butty Wed 27-Feb-13 10:52:31

soop I can just SEE it! Must be the most wonderful spot.

soop Wed 27-Feb-13 10:47:59

Butty Huge warm hugs from an amazing Kintyre. The sky is cloudless. The sea, like glass. The ferry, which is ghost-like, appears to be hovering over it as it glides to Islay. I'm off to tidy part of the wilder regions of the garden. Rory may decide to join me. smile

ga and kitty Hope tomorrow will feel brighter for you both.

Spent today being listless and fed-up, but have just spent the last one and a half hrs. on skype with my son in the States, chatting politics, politics, housing, grandkids, politics and politics! Feel refreshed and invigorated. I do miss him and his passion for a better life for all.

Hurrah for skype! smile

ga, my mum used to tell us to bang on the floor with a shoe heel if we needed her when we were ill in bed. Hope you feel better soon.

Marelli Tue 26-Feb-13 19:08:57

Oh I'm so sorry, kitty, I picked you up wrongly there - I must have been missing your threads about the concerns regarding your mum's care. sad Strangely enough, I've just been watching a news item about the same issues.
Very frustrating for you when all that needs to happen is contact with the powers that be....and in the meantime things are slipping for your mother.
I worked for many years in the care sector, though not with people who had dementia, and it makes me so very, very angry to hear that those who need it so much are not afforded the dignity and care they so richly deserve.
