DD car has been off the road for a few days. She had to get a bus into town £3.50 for approx 2 mile journey. Ho-hum.
Today she got a lift to an interview but had to return by bus. £4.50 for a journey of approx 30 miles.
Explain that to me again A---a

Oh Glamma I do agree with what you say - unfortunately there are areas where the possessions you have and where you live mean much more to people than what sort of person you are - I have lived with that and it is such a relief when you move away!!

Hi glammanana

I did work for the council and the auditors did look out for people who appeared to be living above their means.
There were however several people who worked for the council who had been retired early from jobs outside the council at the time and I think some people did wonder how they were driving reasonably expensive cars etc.
Some did resent it but these people were not doing anything unlawful.
When I first joined I drove a volvo but I did replace it with a less expensive car as I was not carrying the family around as much.
I may get a larger car at some point in the future as I now have grandchildren.
My attitude to cars is they are not a status symbol. You just by a car to suit your needs for the next 3 to 4 years.

O'h I may get a smaller house in future.
When my grandparents purchased the house I am in now they did not have my present circumstances in mind.
