Moving to wonderful Malvern with DH and spending more time together but having enough space to get away from each other when we want to.

Being able to settle back 'home' in the place I love.

Oh dear !What does that mean Galen? I like lounging around in my dressing gown, talking on the phone to friends for hours, keeping up with emails and Gransnet in the day, going shopping when it's not busy, reading or watching a film in the afternoon and just not having so much stress. But I confess I do miss not having some sort of structure to the day.

Doing whatever I want to, whenever I want to, and no one to tell me what not to watch on tv!

Freedom! grin Every morning when I come downstairs, I open the curtains and look at the line of rush hour traffic in the distance, then sit down with my cup of tea to read the mornng papers online and think about what I fancy doing today. Three years retired and I still cherish every new day of no longer going out to work, much as I loved my job. smile

Ask me when I'm dead.

Being able to put off until tomorrow, or whenever, all the jobs I should be doing. Meeting friends for long lunches, having meals when I am hungry and not when the clock tells me to, being relaxed when someone drops in for a coffee instead of worrying that it means I won't get things done before I have to go to work - I'm sure I could think of a lot more!

nanapug Fri 01-Mar-13 13:25:27

Being able to read the paper in bed, with a cuppa, and not have to get up at stupid o'clock.

gillybob Fri 01-Mar-13 13:20:53

Ask me again in 20 years sad

Not being ordered around by idiots at work, and not having to have a packed lunch every day. Being able to go away on holiday at times of my choosing. Not having to get up at 6.30 am and go straight into the shower.
Those would be top of my list, but there are loads more!

Ana Fri 01-Mar-13 13:19:39

Thinking about the post about being kind to ourselves made me think how much I do this now I'm retired. What do you all think are the best things about being retired? My list is long so I will leave it until you have all had a go. smile
