Usually equal quantities of egg to sugar to,flour . Ie 2 eggs 50 g caster whisked over warm water. It triples in volume and fold in 50g self raising I prefer to use a fluted tin and pile on fruit and cream. It doesn't kep but then it wouldn't any way

I've lost it! Well it's somewhere in my kitchen, but where?
Kate (cleaner) "tidies up" eg tonight I can't find my corkscrew!shock
I ended up opening a bottle of champagne as I couldn't find it sad
Actually I meant to open a bottle of prosecco, but took one sip and thought'this is good, and looked!blush

That's what happens when you've been good and organised and energetic all day! It's not good for me smilewine

anno, before leaving Manchester our last family day out was spent at Styal Mill. It's a lovely place to visit in the Spring.

Stansgran Sat 02-Mar-13 20:26:57

A fat less sponge and sandwich with strawberries and cream.the recipe will be in your book with the ken wood

Galen Sat 02-Mar-13 20:00:21

Ps I have kenwood. I've had it a year and this will be the first time it's been usedblush
For some reason I feel energetic today! This is unusual. Perhaps I'm sickening for something?

It's good evening Saturday now. I've been to Styal Mill, for a walk in glorious spring sunshine round the garden which the NT has been restoring for some years now. They've opened up more paths and steps. Because it's in a river valley, the garden is on a steep slope, so it's quite a climb up to the top. There were lots of early spring flowers out and promise of more to come. There's a Channel 4 mini series being made at the Mill at present - car park full of the production company's vehicles, so that an overflow car park was opened in the next field. I will be looking out for that in future. Oh dear! I fell victim to a slice of lemon cake in the tearoom. The icing tasted a bit soapy - serves me right!

So, no slimbridge! Dd is feeling like death, has morning sickness. So I'm going up tomorrow to look after DGD while mum has a lie down!

Galen Sat 02-Mar-13 17:24:24

So lovely here this afternoon, went and filled the car up as I am going to see my dd and DGD tomorrow if dd feels well enough!
We might meet up at slimbridge where I am thinking of taking out membership for us as its halfway between us and the little one loves the birds. It's disabled friendly I'm told so I can ride in state on my big scooter round the grounds,
Memo to self:- charge up camera,
I expect we will have THE WELLIES with usgrin

Gee thanks! I see I've loaded one twice. Sort it on Monday. It's cold in the conservatory where th pooter lurks!

I like your photos Galen.I admire your technological prowess.

Galen Sat 02-Mar-13 16:40:23

At last, Ive managed to upload some photos onto my profile site. I have to use my laptop rather than my beloved iPad, but I've succeeded!

Gorki Sat 02-Mar-13 13:52:39

Glad you are all having good weather in Scotland and NE. It is still very dull and murky here in SE.Wish it would brighten up.Have been to Tesco's and now must get ready for visitors tomorrow. There will be 11 of us for lunch and 13 for tea.Wish we had a bigger table !

Dreary start that suddenly turned into a bright spring day - been for a brief hobble to the post box, and am sitting in conservatory relishing the sound of spring birdsong. Long may it last!

Glass. Shake leg old girl!

Galen Sat 02-Mar-13 12:51:51

Good morning Michael and everyone.
Yes it's Saturday! And I'm up before one!
So far I've done ironing, put a coq au vin to marinate, sorted out my bank account, tried to ring Santander to find out why they've refused the monthly payment into DGD's account?
Apparently they've told my bank they don't have an account for her. They've been accepting the payment for 18/12 !
I shall have to try again on Monday [Grrrr] emoticon.

Lovely sunshine in North Leicestershire and I have been moved to open windows! There is now quite a brisk breeze blowing through the house. Off to the village to pay the papers and buy flowers. sunshine

harrigran Sat 02-Mar-13 11:26:22

gillybob that sounds like a fabulous birthday treat, what a lucky girl smile
Frosty start but I think it is going to be a pleasant day.

moomin Sat 02-Mar-13 11:10:40

Lovely sunshine and blue sky here, but rushing around sorting things out for our visit to Prague tomorrow - can't wait smile

gillybob Sat 02-Mar-13 09:07:57

Had a lovely early morning telephone call from my granddaughter who is 7 today. She went on a stargazing camel trail last night and everyone sang happy birthday to her in the desert . This morning she is as high as a kite and as happy as anyone could be . smile

Stansgran Sat 02-Mar-13 09:01:15

Bright blue sky . Still some frost on the lawn from overnight. Going to be a beautiful spring day.
