Slightly milder here too and I hope it stays so in the highlands, as later this morning we're off to Strathspey for a "Frostbite" archery tournament at Glenlivet. Wish me luck. Better get sorted and wake the rest of the family up.

Happy weekend wishes, folks! smile

Sunny and frosty start here. Yesterday it became beautifully warm during the day - OH sat outside in the SUN reading and having his tea break. Think I will hang the washing out in a mo.
Hope everyone has a fulfilling day whatever you are up to.

Had a lovely early morning telephone call from my granddaughter who is 7 today. She went on a stargazing camel trail last night and everyone sang happy birthday to her in the desert . This morning she is as high as a kite and as happy as anyone could be . smile

Lovely sunshine in North Leicestershire and I have been moved to open windows! There is now quite a brisk breeze blowing through the house. Off to the village to pay the papers and buy flowers. sunshine

Good morning Michael and everyone.
Yes it's Saturday! And I'm up before one!
So far I've done ironing, put a coq au vin to marinate, sorted out my bank account, tried to ring Santander to find out why they've refused the monthly payment into DGD's account?
Apparently they've told my bank they don't have an account for her. They've been accepting the payment for 18/12 !
I shall have to try again on Monday [Grrrr] emoticon.

Glass. Shake leg old girl!

Dreary start that suddenly turned into a bright spring day - been for a brief hobble to the post box, and am sitting in conservatory relishing the sound of spring birdsong. Long may it last!

Glad you are all having good weather in Scotland and NE. It is still very dull and murky here in SE.Wish it would brighten up.Have been to Tesco's and now must get ready for visitors tomorrow. There will be 11 of us for lunch and 13 for tea.Wish we had a bigger table !

Galen Sat 02-Mar-13 16:40:23

At last, Ive managed to upload some photos onto my profile site. I have to use my laptop rather than my beloved iPad, but I've succeeded!

Gorki Sat 02-Mar-13 16:49:23

I like your photos Galen.I admire your technological prowess.

Galen Sat 02-Mar-13 17:04:42

So lovely here this afternoon, went and filled the car up as I am going to see my dd and DGD tomorrow if dd feels well enough!
We might meet up at slimbridge where I am thinking of taking out membership for us as its halfway between us and the little one loves the birds. It's disabled friendly I'm told so I can ride in state on my big scooter round the grounds,
Memo to self:- charge up camera,
I expect we will have THE WELLIES with usgrin

Galen Sat 02-Mar-13 18:28:31

So, no slimbridge! Dd is feeling like death, has morning sickness. So I'm going up tomorrow to look after DGD while mum has a lie down!

It's good evening Saturday now. I've been to Styal Mill, for a walk in glorious spring sunshine round the garden which the NT has been restoring for some years now. They've opened up more paths and steps. Because it's in a river valley, the garden is on a steep slope, so it's quite a climb up to the top. There were lots of early spring flowers out and promise of more to come. There's a Channel 4 mini series being made at the Mill at present - car park full of the production company's vehicles, so that an overflow car park was opened in the next field. I will be looking out for that in future. Oh dear! I fell victim to a slice of lemon cake in the tearoom. The icing tasted a bit soapy - serves me right!

HELP as a novice in baking, does anyone have an easy FOOLPROOF recipe and method for a lovely light sponge?
I've got to make one with strawberries in it for tomorrow lunchtime!
Medicine I can do!
Baking no!,sad

Galen Sat 02-Mar-13 20:00:21

Ps I have kenwood. I've had it a year and this will be the first time it's been usedblush
For some reason I feel energetic today! This is unusual. Perhaps I'm sickening for something?

Stansgran Sat 02-Mar-13 20:26:57

A fat less sponge and sandwich with strawberries and cream.the recipe will be in your book with the ken wood
