There seem to be some astonishingly dreary and dull subjects up for discussion at the moment. Have we lost our edge?

And men wearing tight pants decreases fertility!

Marelli Fri 08-Mar-13 16:27:45

Haven't you got your knickers on, number? shockblush

numberplease Fri 08-Mar-13 15:20:29

It`s actually thought to help prevent thrush, that`s what my doctor told me anyway!

janthea Fri 08-Mar-13 14:42:36

My mother never wore knickers! I thought it very strange.

sussexpoet Fri 08-Mar-13 14:32:37

Loved the rhyme about non-wearing of knickers! It reminded me of my own grandmother, then aged nearly 80, who confided to me that as a young woman she never put on her bloomers, unless she was going on the tram - in case she has to go upstairs! I think she would have enjoyed Gransnet!

It was, NanSue but it drifted. Like it!

NanSue Fri 08-Mar-13 12:15:31

Sorry the above ended up in the wrong place!!!!!! It was supposed to go onto the limerick thread.

NanSue Fri 08-Mar-13 12:11:03

There was a Gransnetter from Hants.
Thong? Bikini? Big pants?
Midriff is spreading so sadly the latter
When did it happen? She got so much fatter!

Guess how they say Versailles in Kentucky? (They have one of their own and my sister-in-law is from there).

How about Montreal? Mon-tre-awl or Mont–reyal? And Kwee-beck or Ku-bek?

feetlebaum Mon 04-Mar-13 19:49:48

Kra-kov

Mayorka - unless speaking Spanish, when it's more Malyorka

Proper hoom-droom! Anyone remember where that came from?

The one that gets my goat is Eye-beetha - you've bothered to pronounce the 'z' properly - so what the hell is 'eye' doing in there?

Stansgran Mon 04-Mar-13 18:59:28

And although I put an r in newcarsle I always say Paris but Mallorca Majorca is the one that divides. And do you say Cracow with ff or a w.

Stansgran Mon 04-Mar-13 18:56:58

My mother used to plead for life to be a little humdrum.i like calm.

Ana Mon 04-Mar-13 18:22:31

Calm, rather than 'boring', in my opinion!

merlotgran Mon 04-Mar-13 17:57:00

Same here, grannyeggs. I'm happy to make the odd comment, usually short and sweet but I can't read through lengthy threads or take part in discussions where I have to do anything that smacks of 'thinking'.

Grannyeggs Mon 04-Mar-13 17:54:24

My Mother used to say Paree, which really annoyed me, probably that was the reason for doing it !

Grannyeggs Mon 04-Mar-13 17:52:23

kitty boring suits me at the moment too, there is enough strife and drama going on in my family so if this is boring, it's fine by me!

Galen Mon 04-Mar-13 17:34:52

hmm don't think it would have worked for me today!

petra Mon 04-Mar-13 17:26:04

I did something today that i should have practised for years.
I got back from Spain last night (only for a week) this morning the phone went wrong (was going to call OH in Spain) put bathroom mats on wash and all the rubber came off the back.; horrendous mess in machine.
Finally printed boarding pass. this was easy with old computer, but now with the all singing and dancing new one, well!!!.
while all this is going on i am trying to deal with the refusal of our planning application!!!.
Back to the beggining. After all this the car wouldn't start. Usually at times like this i can have a melt down. but i didn't: what i did was deal with it all as if it was happening to someone else. i am very good in bad situations / emergencies with other people; but sometimes when it's me i can go to pieces.
And do you know, it works.

gillybob when we moved from Derbyshire to Leicestershire (approx 20 miles) people told us that we would not have to acquire long Rs (that's probably rude!) so, presumably, south starts on the Derbyshire/Leicestershire border grin

gillybob Mon 04-Mar-13 14:11:45

Oh sorry Harrigran I thought you were responding to my post that the NE is not on the queens radar. confused
