We thought she was drifting off on my lap this afternoon watching the iPad, but she then discovered that gragrey doesn't have milk on tap like me my does so decamped to dd to have her nap.

Just back from visiting dd and DGD in gloucester. DGD has a nasty cold and her mum was sitting looking very pale and wan on the settee. She is continuously nauseous and it seems that dv, I'm to have another dgc in oct! however it is early days yet so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

anno Yay! Rory's tale was told. The ladies loved it. The other couple who shared our table, are the gardeners [cut their teeth at Hampton Court] and now live in Campbeltown. They've adopted a feral kitten name of Socks. Mother cat is too shy to move in with the the family but a very cosy wooden hut has been built for her to live in. As you can imagine, the talk was entirely dedicated to the love of animals.

Sunny but chilly here in n Bucks. Warming ourselves by booking some holidays.

In order to pay vet's fees, the ladies have open-house events bi-annually. In spite of this being a small community, they raise all they need to cover health care for the animals that they adopt.

Well I've made the cake. Few holes in the base why? Just letting it cool before stuffing with jam strawberries and cream. Only problem, the only jam I have in is apricot. Do you think that will do?
I've got to leave in an hour to go to gloucester.

Having basked in sunshine for most of the week, today is still and misty. It's difficult to see where the sky meets the sea. A pearly grey day.

Spent a lovely, rather rowdy evening with 30 guests of our good mates [who own the orchard plot.] The annual curry evening attracts people from afar...one couple had come down from Aberdeen, but I hadn't expected to meet such a huge crowd, many of which were strangers. The hearing aid helped a little. The background noise appeared to creat an irritating peep-peep-peep.

We met a delightful couple of ladies who live about 5 miles away. They rescue animals, and their garden has been made cat/dog/rabbit/tortoise safe. The tortoise was dying from a rare disease when they adopted it. It's shell was wasting away and it couldn't feed. A tube was inserted into the neck of the creature, through which it was drip-fed and medicated. They bought a heat-pad and a special sun-lamp and took the patient everywhere with them, including hotels and church, where one lady is a lay preacher. After six months of TLC the tortoise survived and is a lively character. It fell "in love" with a sandal...so a mate was found for him and together they live in some style alongside the other animals.

I'd bet that social worker is thinking exactly the same, Frank. Semi-sunlight here, if you see what I mean. The garden needs attention and today would be as good as any. Going to Les Mis early evening - at last!

After a beautiful sunny day in the NE yesterday we have woken to low lying cloud this morning. Hopefully we will not have rain as I promised myself a couple of hours working in the garden.

It was nice here in Bournemouth yesterday, my daughter and I walked along the prom almost to Sandbanks and back. However, today the horrible low hanging cloud is back and my bird bath is frozen. Oh well thank goodness for the Sunday papers.

Why am I not surprised HUNTERF ? Based on your inheritance obsession, It could be that those 4-5 bedroomed houses will never again hear the sound of children running around laughing inside them. (Except maybe on an occasional visit)

They nick name the estate I live on Mini Frinton.
The houses are 4 or 5 bedroom detached but most of them are occupied by pensioners.
Oddly a lot of them grew up in the houses, then left home and came back after inheriting them from the parents.
I fall in to that catagory.

Looks very pleasent in Birmingham. Andie wants his walk then it is off to Bums and Tums.
I am going round to my daughters for Sunday lunch and Andie is coming to help us with our food and then possibly another after dinner walk with Andie.
I can't be up too late tonight as I have agreed to be at the hospital tomorrow by 9am as they are moving my friends mother to the nursing home.
She is going by hospital transport and the daughter will be waiting at the home.
I am hoping to not run in to the Social Worker.

Hard frost here in SW France overnight so still chilly outside - the daffodils are looking sad with their heads drooping at the moment - same for the hellebores - but the sun is shining so should get a good bit warmer.
We have shutters on this house which I do close each evening at this time of year - there is a temperature difference of 5-6 deg on the thermometer stuck on the outside of my kitchen window and behind the shutter to the one under a roof but out side.

Still and overcast in Norfolk - perhaps the sun will break through later as it did yesterday. Quite chilly out too although the birds are all saying it's spring and it's good to see the rooks are nest building again (they dismantled all their nests last year and didn't breed - it was during the drought, and I suppose they decided there wasn't enough food)
