Last evening, Rory went outside to sit alongside his wifelet-that-was and adult daughter [both have been spayed]. It's a ritual. They sit and stare, and once the visitors have eaten, off they go into the forest, and in comes Rory. Another black cat was spotted in the garden a couple of nights ago. Tough and youthful in appearance. We wondered was it an offspring of Rory's?
Rory was late, so I called him to come in. When he eventually reached the back door he was in one hell of a state.
He had either been hit by a car or he had had an almighty big scrap with another cat and he was DRENCHED almost as if he'd been under water [the burn is close by]. His back leg was dragging. His nose bloody. He kept shaking his head, and we noticed that something has torn hair out from behind his ear.
Naturally, we need to get him to the vet. He refuses to be handled. We cannot get him anywhere near the cat carrier. The vet is 24 miles away. I've spoken with the vet and she is to phone me back after two. Talk about distressed...
Good morning soop, have just been updating myself with Rorys progress. I think its hard to think of him returning to his old self, but be assured he will in time. He knows that you will do everything to protect him from harm and once all the physical pains disappear, you will be able to build up his confidence again. We are having trouble at the moment with wandering Toms, one came through the cat flap and sprayed everywhere, worst of all Henry was terrified all day yesterday. Have now taken the decision to lock the cat flap at night and keep him in. He is much calmer today. Have you thought of maybe getting one of though things you plug in, Feliway or something, perhaps it might calm Rory a bit. Henry sends chirups and purrs to Rory.

Rory doesn't need calming. He's so laid back, we have to position cushions under him, so that he doesn't slip off his favourite chair! We do not have a cat flap, as when we moved in, we didn't have a cat...and anyway, the doors are extremely solid...also, Rory tells us when he wishes to go out, which is very rarely since the fright of his life. Poor Henry! 
My son had the same problem with Tom cat intruders during the night. His two cats [neutered Toms] were awfully timid. They were rescue cats and became so stressed that, ultimately, they were "re-housed" in a much quieter area. I've just added a head and shoulders photo of Rory. As usual, it didn't upload in spot number one. Also, a photo of the Well Boat into which the fry from the fish farm on the hill are taken by helicopter. I think it's in position number five. It's a beautiful day in Kintyre, as you can see. We still haven't had snow this winter. 
I've just caught up with wee Rory's thread, soop, and had a look at his new photos . He's bound to be feeling bruised even now, bless him, but his antibiotic injection will have ensured that he's safe from infection. He will get back to his old self, for sure. He's had a fright and he's needing reassurance - which he's getting bucketfuls of just now. Along with all the wonderful love and care that you and Mr Soop are giving him, he'll recover well. Just now he's convalescing. Give him a wee extra kiss from me! xx

The bill from the vet came today...£107.38! As I look at poorly Rory, I have to say...he's worth it.
About the same, number...sleeps a lot, eats well, walks very little, but he does appear to be very happy, in a feline sense. 
For as long as he lives, we shall continue to do our very best for him. 
Yes, when he looks well rested and free from stress. If he could , he would.
Thank goodness the wee man is making progress, good to hear. Keep us all updated. We were out last night for a couple of hours and I stupidly left the cat flap open for Henry, not thinking for a minute that the despots would venture in when the lights were on. Alas how wrong was I, we returned to a terrified cat, an awful stink of cat wee and all Henry's food eaten. So that did it, cat flap locked and blocked and litter tray returned once more. I almost saw him sigh with relief. He slept on our bed all night, first time he has done that. I think between March and May is cat breeding season and perhaps all the toms are out on the prowl. How many folk keep unspayed queen[ these days I wonder???? Lovely day here but freezing wind.
