If it is not slippery I am going to walk to my daughters house and they promised a nice beef dinner today.
I have been asked to get some apple pie and cream on the way round from a shop which has just opened which they were told about by my other daughter yesterday as I had a lamb dinner at her house.
Normally I take them out for a meal every other week but not this weekend due to the conditions.
If it is dangerous I will cook myself fish and chips.

Just got back from my daughters after a lovely roast beef dinner. Andie enjoyed some beef and veg as well.
Met somebody who gave me the news of my father's ex again. Stopped out of politeness but moved on when he said I should send the family a cheque for £100,000.
He was obviously one of Dad's ex's supporters.

Walked over to the wood with DH. It was cold, but once inside the wood, sheltered from the easterly wind and very beautiful.
About to cook chicken dinner and hot cross buns. Wrote a blog about the kind of health advice doctors gave out in the 1930s. If anyone would like to read it, this is the link. I was quite amused. I do like those old medical advice books. bit.ly/Zh9Vk3
Also read someone else's blog - really complicated thing about drug trial design. But laughed at the bit about the company that gave up on a placebo controlled test for libido enhancing gel for postmenopausal women. I could have told them that it is not the kind of gel, it is how you use it that counts. grin Could have saved them lots of money. doh. grin

Jess

You reminded me.
I bought some hot cross buns on the way to my daughter's intending they would be eat while I was there and I forgot them.
I have just phoned to say they are there.
I am not however walking back through the snow for my share.

Very, very cold today had granddaughter yesterday but couldn't take her to the park sadly just too cold so we were stuck in doors being creative with the Duplo.

DH and I were determined to get out today in spite of this horrible weather. Went for a drive ended up in Petworth, West Sussex and found there was a lovely National Trust house there, happily we had our passes with us. Had lunch in their dining room and a good look round the house. Back home now, feet up with the Sunday papers.

Enviousamerican Sun 24-Mar-13 18:28:03

be careful Frank, these people you talk about remind me of people in a Midsomer village!

American's are rich so you could send them £100,000 if you want.

Frank

annodomini Sun 24-Mar-13 19:06:05

Ah, yes, Envious, there have been a lot of deaths recently in Franksville.

Enviousamerican Sun 24-Mar-13 19:10:04

Hummmm, maybe, but not rich enough to move to your country.Which is best of course, you have too many people already. the last thing you need are us in the mix!

absent Sun 24-Mar-13 19:17:21

Envious We do, we do. I think Americans count as quite a high level of immigrants in this country – and how good is that? smile grin [party whistle blowing emoticon] [streamers]

Enviousamerican Sun 24-Mar-13 19:28:27

Im glad you welcome us. I hope they bring lots of money with them. I think when I looked it up, people over 62 must have at least 65 pounds a year to live there. To make sure we wouldn't ever need help. Makes since to me.Wish you could make other people bring money with them?

Enviousamerican Sun 24-Mar-13 19:29:07

Sorry!!! 65 thousand pounds!

Enviousamerican Sun 24-Mar-13 19:36:55

Hey Frank! do you think if I brought my 100,000 pounds I could live in their shed?

HUNTERF Mon 25-Mar-13 12:01:54

I don't know if they have a shed.

Had a trip to the Metro centre to shop for food in M&S. Children's clothes have 20% off today, well it would be rude not to buy anything grin

GN sad shame you have to leave but you will have fabulous memories of this latest visit. sunshine

Today, I am going on a Domestic Violence Course (not to learn how to do it, obviously but to learn about the implications for people coming to court) I usually enjoy going on refresher courses but this week I am so flipping busy that I could do with the day at home, catching up.

Also, today is DD3's due date so I shall be on edge all day and, probably, for the next 10 days or so. grin

JessM Tue 26-Mar-13 10:45:05

Love those course titles kittylester . Bad as the Drunk Driving courses etc. You get the same syndrome in job titles like:
teenage pregnancy coordinator
or my favourite which was : rolling prisoner rehabilitation worker
hmm
I'm in the cafe, trying to do some work. Avoiding cabin fever. Planning to take car out this pm and score lots of strong cardboard boxes to pack the books.

I'm just about to go to bed. DGD age 7 months has finally gone to sleep having been awake and wingeing since 6 am and we are all exhausted. Think it's 'The Teeth'. moon

annodomini Just for you ---

GLOOMY SUNDAY
(Sam M Lewis/Rezső Seress)

Sunday is gloomy,
My hours are slumberless
Dearest the shadows
I live with are numberless
Little white flowers
Will never awaken you
Not where the black coach of
Sorrow has taken you
Angels have no thought
Of ever returning you
Would they be angry
If I thought of joining you?

Gloomy Sunday

Gloomy is Sunday,
With shadows I spend it all
My heart and I
Have decided to end it all
Soon there'll be candles
And prayers that are said I know
Let them not weep
Let them know that I'm glad to go
Death is no dream
For in death I'm caressin' you
With the last breath of my soul
I'll be blessin' you

Gloomy Sunday

Dreaming, I was only dreaming
I wake and I find you asleep
In the deep of my heart, dear
Darling I hope
That my dream never haunted you
My heart is tellin' you
How much I wanted you
Gloomy Sunday
