Why does mine seem to need turning out practically every two weeks? Why have I not managed to get matching pillowcases for God knows how long? Who put that bag of flanells right at the back (thought we were getting low on them! hmm

And how do you lose a sheet?!

Do charity shops take sheets (no longer deep enough) and odd pillowcases?

Love to meet you all. A lot of British visit a small town south of here that has the Lynchburg distillery where they make Jack Daniels whiskey.

Saw one of the instant bolied water taps recently called a Quooker..but same thing.

Yogurt was what I used my airing cupboard for and for dough! Now the combi does not require a water tank I just use the cupboard for towels etc and put the dirty washing basket in the space where the water tank was!

Bed linen in the under bed drawers.

Very cold here in Dundee. Taking an Easter 2 week break from the grandchildren and DS.
Sadly the heating in the house is broken and we have been here since Saturday... the part needed not available until Tuesday. .Would give anything for the airing cupboard!!!
DH and I have been sitting with hot water bottles on our knees like a pair of brass monkeys.
Went on the bus with our bus passes to Aberdeen just for the warmth....sunny there!! Roll on tomorrow and I can put the washing away in a warm airing cupboard.envy

Envious - love Tennessee, beautiful state! smile

I miss my airing cupboard - I had a large water tank taken out and it made room for the shower. I used to put bedding and towels on a couple of shelves, seedlings to grow on another, bread dough on yet another shelf, and a demijohn or two of wine to bubble away on another - brought my home made wine on a treat.

I would also love to have a walk-in pantry - just not enough room in this little house.

I have an airing cupboard/wardrobe which has hot water pipes going up the walls.
I hang my summer or winter clothes in there and above has several shelves for bedding, towels and spare duvets.
I have to take step ladders in there to reach stuff on the top shelf!

My favourite visit was to the JD distillery, Envious. A very funny afternoon with some great characters.

Embarrassed to say I've not toured the mansion. Not much of a fan.I did past by it once going to the zoo. What else did you see?

LullyDully Mon 25-Mar-13 18:28:40

Thought you were talking about Dundee for a few seconds.

Enviousamerican Mon 25-Mar-13 18:30:23

Whenim64, did you notice the smell of whiskey in the air? Did you eat at Miss Mary Bobos?

Enviousamerican Mon 25-Mar-13 18:33:23

May I ask what the moon represents? Boredom?

Ana Mon 25-Mar-13 18:37:48

Well, it was originally supposed to signify "Goodnight" or a sort of signing-off emoticon, but I think Nonu just likes it! grin

whenim64 Mon 25-Mar-13 18:38:00

The moon is to say 'goodnight' *Envious'.

Yes, fried chicken and catfish at Mary Bobo's, and JD's had the smell of whiskey in the air - beautiul surroundings smile

Enviousamerican Mon 25-Mar-13 18:41:19

hope you had fried okra also and some kind of cobbler for pudding?

whenim64 Mon 25-Mar-13 18:46:28

Yes, the okra and caramel-ly apples with whiskey liberally plashed in there grin

whenim64 Mon 25-Mar-13 18:46:59

....should say 'splashed'

Enviousamerican Mon 25-Mar-13 18:58:01

Yum...I've baked sliced apples and put J.D.in them for Thanksiving.Guess we should go back to airing cabinets.

j08 Mon 25-Mar-13 19:00:45

No. You carry on. I like the sound of all this appley/whiskyish food. (yum)

j08 Mon 25-Mar-13 19:02:18

Just popping off to find some recipes. (for DD to cook for me) smile

j08 Mon 25-Mar-13 19:05:17

worth buying a bottle of whisky for

Enviousamerican Mon 25-Mar-13 19:19:30

Some good recipes on that site! I noticed the chicken salad used Miracle whip which is a sweeter form of mayonnaise if anyone wasn't sure about it. Yum!

Really miss not having an airing cupboard. I thought/think they are great.
Unless you left your linen in too long and you would have to wash it all over again because of the yellowing at the folds etc.

I could not put bedding sets in a pillowcase. Very difficult to put a 10 feet square sheet into a pillowcase. Believe me I have tried.

My son has one of those Quooker (?) instant taps and OH and I find the taste
unpalatable.
Basically you are drawing water from a boiler, however long it has been sitting there.

Nonu Mon 25-Mar-13 19:29:22

I am a huge fan in fact have been twice , will tell you a bit more later Envious

ANA , is right I just like the symbols , little things mean a lot .LAL

Nonu Mon 25-Mar-13 19:31:54

Johanna , each to his own . I would not be without mine for all the tea in China now. Laugh

Anne58 Mon 25-Mar-13 19:59:49

To get back to airing cupboards, I currently have a cat in mine.

Plus towels, linen, knickers with the elastic gone, the odd sock department (by the time some of them meet their other halves, the yellowing means that the colours no longer match) the t shirt that I spent ages looking through every damn drawer for, and a glass chandelier. confused
