Envious, I think RobertJunior might just have been being ironic - he knows there's nothing really wrong with him but was a bit put out because someone had said he'd looked ill on Tuesday! wink

RUDDY means

1. (of the complexion) having a healthy reddish colour, usually resulting from an outdoor life

Go check it up in your FUNK & WAGNELLS dictionary. I'm perfectly happy with my ruddy complexion, it's heriditary & is mainly due to "thread veins".

My mother used to use the Mozart quote all the time Elegran smile There's nothing like someone asking "Do you feel alright?" to make you feel really ill.

Well i will try again.Nobody else seems to have their two cents in yet so here is two more. high blood pressure and high blood sugar can redden your face. Also your lips.

Thanks, I really wasn't sure exactly what he meant JessM.

Ruddy complexion just means "red" or pink if you are being polite, in UK English envious

Look up Addison's disease and see if you have symptoms. It causes hyper pigmentation of areas on the skin.Seems like I've heard of something that causes darkening of the skin.Best to just see the doctor!Your skin isn't yellow tinged or the whites of your eyes?

Was it Mozart at about the same age, who was asked how his toothache was today? "Thank you, Madame, the agony is much abated" he replied.

RobertJ while you're perusing, can you find a reason why I keep getting a stitch-like pain in either my right or left side? I've had my appendix removed.

What ails thee Jock?"
So said Thomas Babington Macauley a child prodigy whose first words, legend has it, were: "What ails thee, Jock?"; This was at the age of 4.

I have a ruddy complexion and people often say I look as if I've been on holiday. This being the case I was shocked when two lady friends nurse Gillian and I had coffee with last Tuesday, made a point of saying to me in church this morning,
"Oh you did look ill on Tuesday, we were quite worried about you"

It fair spoilt my day. I felt great first thing, but now I wonder if I've got something brewing. I think I'll get out my old trusty , dog eared FAMILY DOCTOR & check what I might have.
