on Sunday, then I believe it will show that this country has lost any small semblance of moral decency it was holding onto. And that the heads of a national institution have let all thoughts of ethical reasoning go out of the window in favour of political correctness.

I can only hope that it doesn't make number one.

But, my God, this country has sunk to an all-time low.

Very sad.

Now I wonder which threads those might be................................confused grin

Elegran Tue 16-Apr-13 21:58:06

I read that reversing polarity in some mountains (magnetic rocks?) was endangering the lives of climbers because their compasses got confused. The pages on GN threads are like that. sometimes they start at the beginning, sometimes at the end, whatever you put into your preferences. Makes nonsense of some threads. Except the ones which were nonsense to start with, you can't tell which way up they are.

I'm still on one! But sometimes it gives other numbers. No rhyme or reason?

j08 Tue 16-Apr-13 21:19:46

Oh! Mine says 4.

Bags Tue 16-Apr-13 21:18:26

Pages (guessing). I only have four pages because I specify 100 posts on each page. The default is 25.

Eloethan Tue 16-Apr-13 19:18:53

"In case he gets blown up tomorrow" - is there a material difference?

I'm sure you understand that sentence but if not: People have to make up their own minds whether they have said or done something that they regret - statements of regret or apologies shouldn't be made to placate other people.

j08 Tue 16-Apr-13 19:12:40

I don't understand how the Boston bombing has been dragged into this thread.

And, before you think too badly of me, yes, the thought of the little eight year old boy has crept into my mind at times during today, but tbh I try to shoo the thought away. I'm all cried out for the children in the news recently. Almost.

j08 Tue 16-Apr-13 19:09:35

" But I think people should only express regret of their own volition and only if they actually feel regret."

What the fuck are you on about?! confused

j08 Tue 16-Apr-13 19:08:19

I didn't actually mention the word "bombning". Your Honour.

j08 Tue 16-Apr-13 19:07:09

Where are all these people rushing to defend me and my totally unrelated to the Boston tragedy joke?! confused I haven't seen 'em anywhere! hmm

I've counted 2! (I think)

Enviousamerican Tue 16-Apr-13 19:03:30

Nonu, are you sure you don't want to see Monument Valley in Utah? It's one of my dreams to see.

Eloethan Tue 16-Apr-13 19:02:07

In response to a silly song, the original post states the country is "losing any semblance of moral decency".

Some people on Gransnet thought that a comment about blowing people up, though probably spoken unthinkingly and in jest, was unfunny and inappropriate, particularly in the light of the bombing in Boston yesterday.

Those who had expressed shock and indignation regarding the song on the radio and who subsequently criticised others for having a different point of view, now rush to defend the "bombing" remark.

It is perhaps unwise to claim the moral high ground and subsequently make, or support, jokes about bombing people. But I think people should only express regret of their own volition and only if they actually feel regret.

j08 Tue 16-Apr-13 18:37:32

Shall we have a go now Greatnan? Dinner microwaved cooked and eaten. Forget about the washing up.

You first.
