Glad you've got some sunshine, mick. A grey, wet start here – normal! We haven't had proper rain for weeks so the plants will welcome it.

Rain here in Fife

glammanana Sun 14-Apr-13 08:22:26

Good Morning everyone its a glum start here to-day that weather man on TV needs to get his facts right I was expecting some sun sunshinesunshine missing above New Brighton.

Zengran Sun 14-Apr-13 08:32:42

Sunny here in Northamptonshire. Hope it stays fine for my friend's garden party this afternoon!

PRINTMISS Sun 14-Apr-13 08:35:18

Good morning to you all, the weatherman got it wrong here too, at the moment it is overcast and looking to rain - we had torrential rain yesterday. Hope the weather improves later, as we have been promised, by the forecasters, I want to go for a walk along the front, haven't done that for some time now.

Greatnan Sun 14-Apr-13 08:40:41

Sunny in Switzerland! sunshine

Good Morning from South Cheshire. It's a bright blustery day so far, but the wind is warm. The washing is drying nicely on the line.

Good morning all, raining here in Inverness-shire. We are promised sun later with a high of 15. Not sure I can believe that, but will let you know tomorrow.

Good morning. I was woken up with a text from GD to say her flight home from Florida had reached De Gaulle. She will be back here at 1.30, so it's a long time to hang around the airport and it's a fair bet that she's skint! Then an email arrived from my NZ sister to say her daughter in Edinburgh had had her new daughter early this morning - so that's another great niece.

Mixed weather here in Dorset, though I can now see some large black clouds. Still no better with this bronchitis - I need some time in the sun

It is almost odd to see the rain this morning, it's been a while since we've had any. I've enjoyed the long spell of cold clear weather.

My son Skyped yesterday from Blood Mountain on the Appalachian Trail, wish I were there. envy

Sorry to hear it is raining in the West Bags, as we are off to Glasgow to shop for Bride's and Bridesmaids' dresses. Was hoping for sunshine rather than trailing about in a raincoat.

Sunny and hot here near Bergerac. We have spent several hours in the garden planting all sorts and also planting up a couple of pots on the patio. DH has had to ditch the long sleeved shirt for one with short sleeves. All doors and windows open.

Those Apalachian mountains are lovely baubles - we drove across those a few years ago and could see the blue ridge mountains in the distance.

I do wish we could send you all some sun - would be nice to think of everyone basking Sunday afternoon.

Very windy in the north east but the sun is shining smile

soop Sun 14-Apr-13 11:57:26

Good morning from me to you. sunshine
harri ...yes, Kinyre is also bathed in bright sunshine. The wind has turned and the waves are capped with frothy white peaks. The oystercatchers are having enormous fun as they rootle through the shifting pebbles on the shoreline. The gulls appear to be hanging in mid-air. Two new bird visitors to the garden: goldfinch. Their plummage echos the beautiful colours of the ancient forest, the tree bark of which is a delicate blend of soft reddish gold, sage green and pale silvery mushroom.

annodomini Sun 14-Apr-13 12:10:51

it's turned quite windy now and grey. The gold finches have been on my bird feeder again, one on each side.

soop Sun 14-Apr-13 12:35:46

anno Are yours as bossy as ours? hmm

Nelliemoser Sun 14-Apr-13 12:55:10

I had a lovely time this morning. I went to take some flowers up to the wood where my mum and dads ashes are scattered its 11yrs today since my Dad died.
On the way "round the block" that is through a lovely wood and a farm track to a fishing lake. I stopped at the lake to look at the view and the ducks.
A very shaggy white dog came up with a ball in its mouth and dropped it at my feet clearly begging me to throw it for him. We had great fun and I got some good photos. It was OK until the ball landed the lake. My bad throwing.
The poor dog was trying very hard to get the ball from the water it clearly didn't want to go into the lake and the banks were very steep. I felt so guilty about his ball that I then risked a soaking by getting a nearby pole and pulling the ball to the the side so the dog could reach it.

Happy dog happy me. smile smile
I don't think I want to own a dog but this one was lovely.

Photo of this unamed shaggy canine on my profile page. I am tempted to go and see him again. I think he belongs to management there.

Greatnan Sun 14-Apr-13 14:51:07

Nellie - I love your baby photos! Yes, I would like a dog but my nomadic life does not allow it, so I am enjoying dog sitting for Juragran.

Grannylin Sun 14-Apr-13 15:04:45

Congrats anno. No sun here, supposed to be 20 deg. But only 11 and very grey.

annodomini Sun 14-Apr-13 16:48:21

I have spent well over an hour and £8 car park charge at Manchester Airport waiting for GD who eventually appeared without her suitcase which, it turns out, is still in Paris. She had a 6 hour wait between Air France flights and assumed that her luggage would be transferred without her having to collect and re-check it. That's how it was on her way out to Florida. I would probably have made the same assumption. Not so. Anyway they have said it will be delivered to her tomorrow. She looks healthy, tanned and disgruntled!

annodomini Sun 14-Apr-13 16:51:09

soop, I don't think the goldfinches had much scope for being bossy this morning as they had no competition. The blue and great tits seem to prefer my neighbour's bird feeder this week.

Greatnan Sun 14-Apr-13 17:14:34

Anno, I always ask when I check in if my baggage will be transferred for me but even so it doesn't always work. When I went to Phuket on my way home last year, the Phuket -Singapore flight was late so I had to run through the airport to catch the Heathrow flight. They told me just before we landed that my bag had not made it, but it would be on the next flight. However, I had to catch my flight to Geneva, so they sent it on to Geneva airport and I picked it up the next day. It was ruined, but they sent me a new one which is a much more expensive make, but weighs 5 kgs when empty.
I was a bit tense coming back this time, as I had only 2 hours between the landing time from Singapore at Heathrow, and the Geneva flight, but it worked out. I did wonder who would be responsible if I missed a connecting flight because the previous flight, with a different airline, was late. I must ask Singapore airlines about that.
