Today I have been mainly Vol. 6

I have always liked this thread, so here I am resurrecting it!

Today I have mainly been eating, drinking and sleeping, then eating....

Such decadence! Lunchtime drinks at the Yacht club, watching the gaffer (DGD explained what it meant) racing and the sun glinting on the water, then home for a bite, then a snooze...what a life. How lovely today was.

Today I`ve been into town, to my hubby`s annoyance, because I`m now completely done in, and he says it`s my own fault. I sat on every bench as I went along, took me ages to do the bank and the 3 shops I had to go to! But the visit to the bank was necessary, it wasn`t going to come to me!

I'll join you feeling exhausted, soop. Perfect day for taking down curtains and washing them and drying them and re-hanging and dusting bits that haven't been dusted for a ... well ... while. And for making a Victoria sponge so that I could use up some cream DH bought last weekend when I was away. Apple and prune fruit spread and whipped cream between layers. Yum. Also did some early morning garden, cutting docks and other stuff, until I also cut my left pinky with the secateurs. Lotsablood. Had to wake DH up to get the first aid kit as I was too busy pressing on the wound. It'll be sore for a bit. Sigh. Did some archery too, and made some bread, and some soup stock from a chicken carcass.

Pheeew! Time to sink my teeth into some roast lamb.

Shattered! 8 hours looking after twin grandsons who have been very busy rearranging my cupboards, playing tents with my bedding, cuddling the dog to within an inch of her life, hiding my mobile phone (inside an antique bowl), and generally tiring me out. Time for a power nap grin

Greatnan Sat 08-Jun-13 18:36:37

Bags and when - I feel tired just reading what you have both been doing. I have merely climbed up a mountain to look at a spectacular view, then lounged around with Radio 4/surfing and packing for my holiday in Egypt. What a selfish (wonderful) life I have!

harrigran Sat 08-Jun-13 20:00:16

Had a pleasant lunch out with DH, only people in the restaurant. It is one of those days when people stay in their gardens. DS wants GD to have the microscope for school project, of course it is in the darkest corner of the attic.

Ariadne Sat 08-Jun-13 20:06:18

Wandered over to Le Touquet which, just as I remembered, was busy, busy. So we took off aimlessly and ended up at the Abbaye de Valloirs, the most peaceful, beautiful place you can imagine, in the heart of the countryside.

Walked along the sea front at Berck, had a nap, had a lovely meal. Calais tomorrow! Time to go home now.

Marelli Sat 08-Jun-13 20:07:30

numberplease, have only just picked up on your post about cancelling your holiday sad. Things have become so difficult for you over the last few weeks, and if you're not able to sleep because of the pain you're in, it'll drag you down so much. Get DH to roll his sleeves up - or else no dinner, etc!
Bags, you've been in the wars too....shock....nippy!
Today I've sat in the garden nearly all day, and while did so I worked on the rag rug that I started last year....that's another 2" done, so I've only got 46" to do..hmm. I put summer curtains up before I went outside, and tonight I got in a pickle trying to redeem a Groupon voucher, never having done such a thing before. (Thought I was going to have to come on here and ask how to 'cut and paste').

annodomini Sat 08-Jun-13 20:48:22

I've been recovering from the side effects - nausea and dizziness - of an antibiotic I was taking for cystitis. Kill or cure? I spent last evening at the Royal Exchange Theatre wondering if I'd get through the performance - I did, though I wouldn't have regretted it much if I hadn't: Pinter's 'The Birthday Party', a play full of implied menace and meaningful silences is a bit of drag, to be honest!

Galen Sat 08-Jun-13 21:27:27

Never liked Pinter.

Galen Sat 08-Jun-13 21:29:49

Got the washing done and line dried!
Sorted out a few things for the holiday.
Got some bit D.
Went on GN.
Now bed!

Galen Sat 08-Jun-13 21:30:14

Vit D!

Marelli Sat 08-Jun-13 21:36:24

What I omitted to add to my witterings about Groupon and summer curtains, etc, was that as I was sitting in the garden in the sunshine, a small light plane came down and flipped onto its back in the field near to the bottom of the garden. There's a small airfield nearby and we're used to hearing and seeing the planes flitting about, but this afternoon we heard the engine of one cut out. When I said to DH, "Is it supposed to do that?", he replied that they often do that, when they go into 'freefall' (or something). confused. We thought no more about it until sirens signalled the arrival of emergency services. Pilot was stretchered into a helicopter. Nothing on the local news as yet, so I hope he wasn't seriously hurt.

numberplease Sat 08-Jun-13 23:04:12

Oh, Marelli, I do hope that the pilot is alright. That`s cause for a laugh, the idea of my hubby doing ANYTHING around the house, let alone cooking a meal! grin
All you busy people make me feel so guilty, all I`ve done is 2 loads of washing, but I will be ironing in a little while, although I doubt if it will all get done, can`t stand for too long.
Anno, you`ve made me think now. Last week, when I first started taking the morphine liquid and using the patches as well as taking painkillers, all prescribed by the doctor, I experienced nausea and dizziness, and was extremely shaky, so I stopped taking the morphine whilst using the patches, thinking that was the cause. But at the same time I was also taking antibiotics for cystitis, maybe that was what caused it.

Oldgreymare Sun 09-Jun-13 07:45:52

Hugs, Number... perhaps time to ask for a review of the medication.
The OG expects help on the allottment and lunch! I arrive home, shattered, and cook lunch, he takes a shower hmm

LizG Sun 09-Jun-13 08:07:02

Today (well yesterday really) I bought new bedding for our brand new, oh so comfortable bed. Annodomini and Inthefields I can be remarkably stupid and perhaps naive at times grin but right now fortunately my mind has gone completely blank. No stories to tell but thank goodness for getting older!

Bez Sun 09-Jun-13 08:31:05

Spent a nice couple of hours out with the recuperating DD yesterday - pleased she is recovering from her hysterectomy so well - we did a bit of girl shopping in a vibrant high street and then went to an arts centre and had a lovely lunch. Went sensible shopping for food in the afternoon with DH and then managed a short sit in the sun.
Ariadne your trip sounds so interesting - will tell DH as I think he would enjoy it. Did not catch up with this thread again in time to tell you really - but south of Calais near St Omer at Helfort there is a museum made in the bunkers Hitler built to launch the V2 rockets ( La Coupole) - very interesting and tells the tale of how the people on that section of France were treated because of their nearness to the UK coast.

harrigran Sun 09-Jun-13 12:14:30

number morphine is well known to cause nausea. When I was taken to A & E with chest pains they gave me an injection before the morphine to counteract the sickness.

Marelli Sun 09-Jun-13 12:22:38

number, just heard on the local news that the 50-year-old pilot of the 2-seater plane that crashed in the field nearby was taken to the hospital in Edinburgh. He thankfully had managed to isolate the fuel-line. Plane is being dismantled just now.

Tegan Sun 09-Jun-13 12:28:39

Good news that; lucky chap.

Tegan Sun 09-Jun-13 12:48:29

...putting off doing just about everything. And I'd decided not to go into town as 'I had so much to do' confused....

Galen Sun 09-Jun-13 13:02:13

Had Bath. A rare event as it means using an electric bath seat and very precariously getting in and out of the bath.
Just settled into blissfully Molton Brown foam when I realised the foam was migrating out of the bathroom door and wending its way to the stairs!
I realised at the same time I had left my panic alarm on the other side of the room and my mobile in they bedroom. If I got stuck I would be there until Monday morning.
This is why a bath is a rare event. It's easier to use my walk in shower.
I am now making my bread for the week ahead and procrastinating about reading Tuesday files. (I love a good procrastination don't you).
Feel a little bit like the Cornishman who asked th reporter what mañana meant?
Never do today what you can put off til tomorrow came the reply.
Nothing as urgent as that round here, said the Cornishman

annodomini Sun 09-Jun-13 13:29:30

And as a Scottish Islander (Church of Scotland Minister) used to say, 'When God made time he made plenty of it.'

numberplease Sun 09-Jun-13 17:36:49

So pleased that the pilot is going to be alright Marelli.
I haven`t done anything today, apart from cooking lunch, haven`t even washed up yet, I hate it when there`s an enormous pile of washing up to be done, wish I could delegate sometimes!

Galen Sun 09-Jun-13 18:11:23

No dishwasher?

Bags Sun 09-Jun-13 18:23:52

Never put off till tomorrow what you can put off till the day after.
