I have always liked this thread, so here I am resurrecting it!

Today I have mainly been eating, drinking and sleeping, then eating....

Such decadence! Lunchtime drinks at the Yacht club, watching the gaffer (DGD explained what it meant) racing and the sun glinting on the water, then home for a bite, then a snooze...what a life. How lovely today was.

Think I posted this some time ago, but hey - we moved here about eight months ago, and got a great deal sorted put. Then, a few weeks ago, we were sorting out stuff to go to auction. I asked Theseus what was in that blue box...only a dozen bottles of Sauvignon Blance, a tube tho gy of Talisker and other related booze. What a find! Still revelling in it wine

anno We had been infiltrated by a dodgy search engine called snap.do which took over Internet Explore and Firefox. DH did not choose well when he needed to down load a program to install a cd of Microsoft office on my new machine. Snap do hijacked browers in both Windows and Firefox. He got rid of a lot of it yesterday but the nasty was still in one part of the computer and had changed the computer "address" of internet explorer to the bad site.

before down loading anything its worth Googling to see which of the Download load sites are considered safe and which are dodgy.

That is an ominous situation, Nellie. Let's hope you manage to chase the 'nasties' away.

Galen Mon 01-Jul-13 18:31:40

Well I've finished my magnum opus and sent it to silvertraveladviser.
Wait and see if they publish it?

annodomini Mon 01-Jul-13 19:33:24

Send us the link if they do, please, Galen.

Send us the link if they do, please, Galen.
When I wasn't watching tennis today, I took my writing group's masterpiece to the printer's. Some of it's good, some very good and the rest - well, we tried to get everybody into it! I hope the members of the U3A will buy it. Now we are preparing a Christmas edition. Oh, I've just written that word that I wanted to have forbidden. Rap on knuckles for self.

Galen Mon 01-Jul-13 19:59:45

Still haven't worked out how to do links!sad but I have asked if I can send it to gn as well.
As I'm not being paid for it I can't see why I shouldn't?

Shattered, after going with DD to Trafford Centre Clarks shop for more shoes for 20 month old twin grandaughters. One had a tantrum and the other legged it to the end of the shop, collected several pairs of shoes that their children were trying on, wobbled round the store like a Formula One driver, then tried to run behind the payment counter. I did five circuits of the shop and became quite familiar with the other customers, whose new shoes I returned as we whizzed past. Meanwhile, 4 sales assistants managed to measure and fit the other one whilst she wriggled and yelled, curled up her toes and seethed. My DD and I left the shop, looked at each other, and sighed. I don't think anyone noticed! We'll go in when different staff are on next time! grin

Your post made me laugh, When. We took my youngest gs to Clarks in Canterbury when he was about two. He stripped off and ran round naked, whilst his mother tried to catch him and get him dressed. She doesn't have twins, but the last two are only 14 months apart so I was looking after his slightly older sister.
I hate the Trafford Centre with a vengeance, but I take my sister there when I visit her as she loves to shop. I haven't worked out the car parks yet!

This morning I was at the local hospital regarding my referral for a knee replacement. Good news is that I was accepted and am on the waiting list, bad news all the things he said could go wrong and result in death!!

Nonu Fri 05-Jul-13 17:32:09

Number , hope goes well for you and you don"t have to wait too long !

numberplease Fri 05-Jul-13 17:38:52

Today, I supported a lovely lady with an awful drink problem. Despite her resolve and gripping my hand as though it was a liferaft, she only managed ten minutes in the witness box so the defendant went free.

Then, I went to see mum who spent the afternoon telling me that my dad had gone off with a floozy again and asking whether men still have c**ks when they get old!

I've had my wine and feel a bit better now! Just need Murray to win.

Grannylin Fri 05-Jul-13 19:44:45

kitty !! I'm dreading my Mum saying something like that soon in her care home-she's definitely heading that way, to you wine

kitty sorry but I can't help but grin

Tegan Fri 05-Jul-13 21:48:46

number; they always say things like that. The S.O. has a dodgy vein that needs sorting but he only told me the other day that the reason why he hasn't had it taken out is because the hospital told him 'it could result in death' [which scared him to death]. By the way his mum has just had a new knee and she's in her mid eighties and she's doing fine and will even be going home in the next couple of days.

annodomini Fri 05-Jul-13 21:48:46

Good news, number. Don't worry about that litany of possible disasters. They have to give you all these warnings so that you don't sue them if you die. grin

Greatnan Fri 05-Jul-13 22:04:19

Today was lovely and sunny, so I drove to a medieval village on the shores of Lake Geneva, had lunch overlooking the marina, then took the ferry across to a little town in Switzerland. A day of pure pleasure!

Today I've been filling up my guest rooms......due to unexpected overnight visits from oldest son and his wife and youngest son's girlfriend. I like the fact that they know they can just turn up and will be welcomed, (son did phone first) but I did have to do a bit of manoeuvering to get them sorted.

annodomini Fri 05-Jul-13 22:54:49

Greatnan, that sounds idyllic. It's been a glorious day here too. Too good to stay indoors watching tennis, but guess what I've been doing!
