Today I have been mainly Vol. 6

I have always liked this thread, so here I am resurrecting it!

Today I have mainly been eating, drinking and sleeping, then eating....

Such decadence! Lunchtime drinks at the Yacht club, watching the gaffer (DGD explained what it meant) racing and the sun glinting on the water, then home for a bite, then a snooze...what a life. How lovely today was.

I took a lot of photos, anno!

About to start dusting! The new work-tops in the kitchen look lovely, but everywhere is covered in a fine film of dust from all the carpentry work; it was a beautiful day so all the windows and doors were open. Even the cobwebs (outside, I hasten to add) are festooned with dust.

But a little gentle activity while the rugby is on won't be too bad!

Trying to apply bright red polish to my finger nails; wish I hadn't started shock The wedding is at 2 so maybe I have time to remove it! Lovely day to get married in central London sunshine

Sitting in a field on a mountainside, surrounded by wild flowers, with the scent of new mown hay from the next field The only sounds were the insects and cow bells. There was a valley spread out before me and the sun was hot. I had taken a picnic - just fruit and bread and a yoghurt (I remembered a spoon) and a bottle of orange juice as on one or two occasions I have become light headed when my bp fell too low after a couple of hours of very strenuous exercise. Now I am catching up on Radio 4 - Money Box , The News Quiz, Any Questions.... Life is good.

Greatnan that really does sound idyllic. envy

greatnan smile. Wonderful!

It has been a good hay-making day here too and we saw lots of that happening on our way to archery. That was after we'd put Minibags on a train to Edinburgh where she's going to spend a couple of nights with DD2 who met her off the train at the other end. Then we stopped off at a wee lochan to eat a picnic lunch and enjoyed seeing the water forget-me-nots and the Marsh cinquefoil (Potentilla palustris) growing in the waterat the edges. We were sad to see only one mallard duckling, though there were lots of adults, and wondered if they had been bady affected bythe cold spring. It was good to see that there were rather more moorhen chicks.

Hope the wedding went off well Gally just a bit of gentle housework and cooking here today and a trip to the nearest shop to stock up on ice cream.

Gally Sun 07-Jul-13 07:43:43

Woken up exhausted and with 'sair' feet after the most amazing wedding yesterday at Middle Temple. Phew, was it hot, especially while tottering in totally unsuitable shoes which seemed to shrink as the day progressed shock

Aka Sun 07-Jul-13 07:50:29

I'm going to take my Kindle and a jug of coconut and lime and just sit outside on my swing seat and enjoy my lovely garden and the smell of the Rambling Rector.

Oldgreymare Sun 07-Jul-13 08:01:09

Looking for recipes for strawberry ice cream, but have found a promising one for frozen yoghurt, picked 6 lb last night, gave neighbour half and she will make jam.
Memo to self: pick more regularly, a little and often, maybe!

gracesmum Sun 07-Jul-13 09:46:32

There are some lovely weekends going aren't there?
Me? Recovering! In Stratford yesterday to see the Jonathan Slinger's "Hamlet" (me) and "Titus Andronicus" (DH) at RSC and supper at Carluccio's with DDs, SILs and friends who were up to see DD's production of "As You LIke It" and I thought of all the Warwickshire meeters-up and hope the weather is as gorgeous for you on the 19th as it was yesterday! Stratford was truly "en fete" in the glorious sunshine - a totally holiday atmosphere.
One of those "golden days" to treasure.

Sorry to hear Aka's local clergyman is so odoriferous- BO?? grin

Have it in mind to see what's available at the PYO fruit farm half a mile up the road. They had a bad year last year and I hope that things have improved for them. But this afternoon I have a threesome arranged with Andy and Novak. Will my nerves stand it?

kittylester Sun 07-Jul-13 10:34:42

Steady, anno grin

Grannylin Sun 07-Jul-13 10:46:42

So hot here I'm doing the ironing in the garden wearing an old bikini I found!!(no neighbours) Must be careful - last time I did this I ended up with a burn on my tumgrin

gracesmum Sun 07-Jul-13 11:00:23

Please, please, please post a pic on the picture thread!!!!!grin

Grannylin Sun 07-Jul-13 11:24:20

..what of the burnt tumgrin

gracesmum Sun 07-Jul-13 12:06:49

Just of doing the ironing would do! Was in a sunburnt tum or a more serious iron-burnt tum? I am alwasy ironing my hands from not paying attention so I reckon it would rank along with nude barbecueing for chaps as a high risk occupation!!!

Mamie Sun 07-Jul-13 12:41:04

I have downloaded The Help to my Kindle and I am going to read it in the hammock under the trees in the garden.

annodomini Sun 07-Jul-13 13:15:40

I've retreated from the garden where is was just too hot. Chickened out of the PYO because they're likely to be over-run on a Sunday. They will have more berries ripe by mid-week. I hope. I may have to dust off the fans that haven't been in use the last two summers.

Nonu Sun 07-Jul-13 13:19:32

very hot here , so ducking in and out .

What is nice though we have another Music in the Park so the lovely sounds are wafting across , not too loud though I have too say .

Bliss , is this weather !

Galen Sun 07-Jul-13 13:40:12

Fighting with 2 year old DGD for use of the iPad! She usually winshmm

Ariadne Sun 07-Jul-13 16:52:39

Just got back from a long and boozy lunch with lots of Rotary friends in a gorgeous house and garden. Lots of wine and good food and the arthritis is negligible....such a pleasant change.

Now about to have a little toes up!

kittylester Sun 07-Jul-13 19:45:41

Virus re-occurred Ariadne? wine

I usually keep frozen lemon slices in the freezer to add to drinks but had run out. I REALLY fancied a wine and lemonade spritzer so, DH added ice cubes and limoncello. I feel quite virus-y all of a sudden grin

numberplease Sun 07-Jul-13 21:37:22

I once took my top off (in the house!) whilst ironing. Never again, got a burnt tum, a la Grannylin!

Ariadne Mon 08-Jul-13 09:14:52

Kitty grin No - lunchtime drinking, then a little snooze and I'm as right as rain. However, a little abstinence today, methinks!
