Today I have been mainly Vol. 6

I have always liked this thread, so here I am resurrecting it!

Today I have mainly been eating, drinking and sleeping, then eating....

Such decadence! Lunchtime drinks at the Yacht club, watching the gaffer (DGD explained what it meant) racing and the sun glinting on the water, then home for a bite, then a snooze...what a life. How lovely today was.

Like so many of you I have spent time with the special people in my live sunshine

grannyactivist Mon 06-May-13 23:33:54

Some ups and downs on here today. sunshine for the ups and flowers if you need cheering up.
Today I have been ...........silent. I decided that talking makes my cough worse, so I'm going to keep silent for a few days. I've written a few notes and sent a few texts; I even met briefly with a few friends, but NO talking. I once went on a silent retreat and loved it, so I'm quietly enjoying my self imposed muteness. grin

ga I do hope it works! This has been going on for such a long time - you must be exhausted. ((hugs))

Lovely afternoon in my daughter's MIL's garden with the children. I've just uploaded a photo of 18 month old twin grandaughters, enjoying the fine weather.

annodomini Tue 07-May-13 16:52:54

How lovely to see the girls playing in the sun, considering all the anxiety you had after their birth. Big girls now!

whenim64 Tue 07-May-13 17:01:18

Yes, anno they aren't dainty little things now. They charge through the house like little hurricanes, leaving a trail of discarded toys behind them. Fabulous! smile

annodomini Tue 07-May-13 17:52:55

Typical toddlers, in fact. smile

Butty Tue 07-May-13 18:15:37

when Just checked out your photos. Lovely of the twins, and the one of you with 9 week old Declan is a delight. You look relaxed and serene. smile

...as does Declan, of course.

mrshat Tue 07-May-13 18:25:12

Lovely photo when, lovely children. You are blessed! smile

whenim64 Tue 07-May-13 18:33:11

I really am blessed! I'm not ignoring my eldest grandson, who is 13. It's like trying to get a photo of the Invisible Man! I'm thinking of getting a long telephoto lens! grin

kittylester Tue 07-May-13 18:34:02

grannyactivist Tue 07-May-13 18:47:02

when I also peeked at the photo's. Lovely to see little children playing and your Declan is a match for my little grandson. smile
Kitty have some sunshine to dispel angry and sad.

Still staying silent today - seems to have an effect on the amount of coughing I do and my stomach is feeling better for it. Harrigran are you on the mend now?

Today I had a visit from my mother in law; I adore her and usually when we get together we have no trouble in taking turns to chat about a variety of things. Today, with the onus on her to speak she talked very openly about her feelings. She was brought up to show (rather than speak about) her feelings and I've long known that she loves me every bit as much as I do her, but it was very moving to hear her say how much she loves me and she was obviously upset at my ongoing health problems. She's such a very special person.

Gorgeous children, when!

Have pottered about today, planting some pots, and watching with interest what is coming up in this new (to me) garden.

Theseus has been to the Dr. And has discovered he has a touch of osteo arthritis! (Hello, hip replacement, hello, sore elbow...) Have I mentioned this? Yes. Have I mentioned that I have it? Yes. But he has now discovered it himself and made it his own. Came home triumphant with a tube of Ibuprofen gel. Do I have stocks of this? Yes.

I have told him that if he looks at the Arthritis UK website and tries to tell me anything I will strangle him...Have I already told him? Yes.

But, bless him, he is now cycling 20 miles every other day, and looking good. But I shall still strangle him....

Received a strangely addressed parcel in the post with wobbly handwriting. It was from my Aunt, my Mum's 86 year old sister. She wrote to say that she was having a clear out and thought of me when she came across.....a Bulgarian -English dictionary from 1966, which she thought I could use!!She also said that she had fulfilled all her dreams and hoped I was enjoying my retirement with OH (?) and should make the most of life because it goes so quickly. It brought a tear to my eye and made me anxious to go and see her soon...sad

Grannylin Tue 07-May-13 19:43:54

Love the pics when.Get better soon ga- you, silent?!!flowers

whenim64 Tue 07-May-13 19:48:59

ga your mother-in-law sounds fabulous! How special to have someone like her to care about you so much smile

kittylester Tue 07-May-13 20:40:49

Ga how lovely to know how much you MiL loves you. I think my MiL free to regard ne with affection but never said anything. You are, indeed, lucky. flowers

grannyactivist Tue 07-May-13 20:46:09

Silence is golden! I'm loving it and my two (foster) boys think it's the funniest thing ever, but are obviously a teensy bit worried about me and keep giving me sideways glances. hmm

when I often joke that if I'd met my husband's parents before I met him I would have married him just to have them as my in-laws. Both of them are just the kindest, most thoughtful people you could meet. My mother in law still has a very active working and social life and the one thing I hear time and time again is that no-one has ever heard a bad word said about her. When I grow up I want to be just like her! smile

How lovely, ga to have a MiL who loves you. I do wish mine had been less judgemental...

kittylester Wed 08-May-13 09:49:25

Ariadne flowers

annodomini Wed 08-May-13 10:47:14

I think my MiL was slightly intimidated by me! She could talk for England and mostly I just shut off after a while. I know I love my DiLs dearly and am able to chat for ages with them on the phone. They are always most welcoming when I visit. Ariadne, I find myself much less judgemental than I was when I was younger. My family probably benefit from that.

glassortwo Wed 08-May-13 11:41:01

Got a poorly car its just been uploaded to go off to the garage for a diagnostic test, engines are so difficult now open the bonnet and all you see is a bulk head with the electronics in, not like the good old days when you could play with your spark plugs. grin

Took the GC on the bus to school which they loved but my pocket didnt shock, then I went for a route march back home again so hope I have burnt a few calories off.

Bags Wed 08-May-13 11:54:34

Strimming dock and grass before it takes over and getting an axe stuck in a log.

Bags Wed 08-May-13 11:56:11

Have to collect our car from the garage today. I'm not looking forward to the bill. It needed a new anti-roll bar (?) and something else.
