Today I have been mainly Vol. 6

I have always liked this thread, so here I am resurrecting it!

Today I have mainly been eating, drinking and sleeping, then eating....

Such decadence! Lunchtime drinks at the Yacht club, watching the gaffer (DGD explained what it meant) racing and the sun glinting on the water, then home for a bite, then a snooze...what a life. How lovely today was.

Just had the mother and father of all thunderstorms but instead of the cool air I was expecting afterwards I feel as if I'm melting.

Galen Mon 22-Jul-13 22:22:53

Where are you?[geographically speaking?]

Tegan Mon 22-Jul-13 22:49:01

East Midlands. Ashamed to admit that, now I've got a water meter I put lots of plastic containers outside to catch the rainwater blush. Seems to have cooled down a bit now. Dog [who is terrified of loud noises] nearly had a breakdown.

annodomini Mon 22-Jul-13 22:51:42

I wonder if there are storms heading our way overnight - we're not so very far from you, Tegan. I like a god storm - except when it wakes me up.

harrigran Mon 22-Jul-13 22:55:23

I am exhausted, GD makes no allowances for my age. I am sure I could cope if she would just stay in bed after 6am. GD2 can sleep for England but I don't get her for sleepovers, her parents are happy to keep her at home grin

whenim64 Mon 22-Jul-13 22:58:07

I hope that thunderstorm waits till I've strimmed round my kitchen garden in the morning. It looks wild! About 11am would suit me grin

annodomini Mon 22-Jul-13 23:04:28

Tomorrow I am going to pick up my new prescription sunglasses, so it's guaranteed to rain. hmm

Thank you all for your good wishes. The op seems to have gone well, hopefully he`ll be minus a few tubes by tomorrow.

Granny23 Tue 23-Jul-13 00:25:25

Glad to hear that Number - hope you get a good sleep tonight.

kittylester Tue 23-Jul-13 07:09:50

Good news number, keep us posted sunshine

I love a good storm too except when DH finds it necessary to leap out of bed 3 times to check that the gutters aren't leaking, the drain by the front door isn't blocked and that the untraceable drip in the hall hasn't started again and then getting back into bed - wet angry. I feel like a piece of chewed string. grin

Butty Tue 23-Jul-13 07:15:06

Very pleased to hear all went well, number. sunshine

Tegan Tue 23-Jul-13 07:15:33

Dog woke me up at 5; have plugged the dap diffuser in and given her a valerian tablet to calm her down..watched episode 1 of Top of the Lake. Now off to work. Sooo tired sad...

number pleased all went well. flowers {{{hugs}}}

I am off to the Discovery Museum with DGS,his friend and DGD, we were going rock pooling but the two boys are not to keen on thunder storms, they are running some energy off in the park (I am grabbing a quick cuppa before we go and watching them out of the window).

Butty Tue 23-Jul-13 12:21:57

glass - I've been wondering where you've been. Lovely to see you back! sunshine
Love rock-pooling.

soop Tue 23-Jul-13 14:07:03

number A special smile for you and Mr number.

annodomini Tue 23-Jul-13 14:25:02

Yes I was right. I picked up my new sunglasses and it did rain - torrentially. How's that for non-news? I am waiting in for a joiner to drill some holes between my new washing machine and the under-sink cupboard. John Lewis couldn't install it because the connecting hoses came from a different position from the hoses on my old machine - if that makes sense.

kittylester Tue 23-Jul-13 14:36:27

I went to see my Mum today. Her memory is much worse and she had no idea who the fuss was about on the television. I was really pleased, though, that she went to the loo on her own but less pleased that she had missed the loo and the cleaners had to follow her footsteps down the hall. blush

As a new bistro has just opened in our village, we are going to try it out for a meal tonight. It'll pour with rain while we walk there, of course, and I will look like a drowned rat rather than my normal elegant self gringrin

Elegran Tue 23-Jul-13 14:51:31

At last I have found the oscillating fan in the attic and brought it downstairs.

It rained.

NfkDumpling Tue 23-Jul-13 21:38:05

Still waiting for the storms and rain to reach here. We could do with just a little wet - it's as dry as a bone here.

NfkDumpling Tue 23-Jul-13 21:42:53

(I hope you have a lovely meal Kitty - you deserve it)

Oldgreymare Tue 23-Jul-13 22:35:28

Kitty Hope you enjoyed your meal.... drowned rat is the new chic!
My friend's Mum, in a similar situation, is convinced that one of the 'ladies' in the home with her is the Queen and consequently asks her permission to do almost everything. The amusing thing is that this 'lady' graciously grants her permission!

Thanks everyone for your good wishes. He`s doing OK, had bad stomach pains, but epidural drip changed and all`s almost well now. 3 months to recover from this op, then the next one to be arranged.
