I have always liked this thread, so here I am resurrecting it!

Today I have mainly been eating, drinking and sleeping, then eating....

Such decadence! Lunchtime drinks at the Yacht club, watching the gaffer (DGD explained what it meant) racing and the sun glinting on the water, then home for a bite, then a snooze...what a life. How lovely today was.

I love this thread, its been missing too long ariadne

I spent a few hours with one of my favourite people on Saturday.

Sunday went to the house but didnt get any work done as had a visit from SIL, BIL and FIl but it was so good to see them.
Sunday evening was spent with some very special people and we had a good chat and a laugh.

Today we went to the house and I have mixed two lots of cement, humped a whole pallet of breeze blocks but the sunshine was fantastic, I have knackered legs they are aching had to take pain killers but its a good feeling. Then came home to two of my five DGC who were so excited to tell me what they have doen.

The whole weekend has been dominated with the time I have spent with people who are special in my life... and thats what its all about I feel very blessed tonight. sunshine

Bez - that must be a relief for you. flowers

Lovely lovely thread still - so nice to read what diverse but great days everyone has had - I noticed a common thread about lovely FOOD thoughgrin
We have had a nice day even though I am chief cook and bottle washer at DD house - she had her much needed hysterectomy last Wednesday and was home Friday. Thankfully all seems well and she is looking so much better already. We have had a sit in the sun and I am sitting upstairs now while she has a shower just incase I am needed again. DH managed to amuse himself with a little DIY in the garden and then doing Suduko.
Now I shall go and cook our meal - stir fry with noodles and chicken followed by strawberries.
Such a relief she is fine.

Oh dear Kitty. My sympathy for them and you if it has upset you.flowers

when Sounds a fabulous family day. smile

kittylester Mon 06-May-13 19:47:31

Galen and Gally (((hugs)))

We had a busy day. Made loads of tea to keep the gardening angel happy and, now, the garden looks a treat.[ smile]

Kept DH going with tea as he decorated the 'playroom'

Consoled daughter whose cat was run over during the night.

Made a vat of chili and froze four lots for later use.

Feeling lovely and relaxed wine

Then, my brother rang to say he and his wife of nearly 30 years are splitting up for 'no real reason -she is just fed up' Their daughter will be devastated. Luckily Mum won't know. sad

Butty a lovely gift.

Today, I've been enjoying a family bbq, children bouncing on the trampoline whilst eating ice-cream cornets, barbecue smoke enveloping the baby's pram whilst he slumbered, a beautifully made apple pie taken as an offering, only to find two gigantic Costco apple pies gracing the table, a football kicked into the middle of the wine table, landing in a bucket of ice, and the dog underneath the patio table eating steak that no-one gave her! grin

Can't wait for the next one! grin

My neighbour called in with a black-eyed Susan plant for me. I said - "why, this doesn't happen to me" and she said "because", gave me a hug and smiled. I cried.

Does anyone think sourdough bread would make a good sardine sand which for my lunch tomorrow?

Galen Mon 06-May-13 17:52:33

I'm now trying to think of what to have for supper. I had a beyond its best date of Palma ham for lunch. Reckon if something takes 14 months to cure will not go off in a month kept in a fridge. Dd would have a conniption fit!

Watered newly laid turf, if it dies, it won't be for want of watering angry
Sat in the sun and watched the birds collecting worms from the newly watered garden. OH kindly cooking meal this evening smile Galen and Gally sunshine

Plenty of washing out and staring hard at weeds. Struggling with a quilt border(wild goose for those who quilt) ended up weeding as my Paddington bear like stare hasnt made them flee into next doors. Struggled with the wild geese reminding myself that this is a hobby for pleasure. Made a ham and leek pie with leftovers and now having a little lie down before my DH brings me a g&t.

Galen Gally sunshine xxx

Theseus has been looking for something that he hadn't seen since the move (won't bore you with details,) Anyway, I pottered into the garage and said "What's in that big box over there?"

Only a dozen bottles of white wine, two bottles of Talisker and some cava! (When we were in Kent, we did frequent trips to Clais to stock up.) Bliss.

That which was lost has also been found and kept him busy with power drill and rawlplugs and....things all afternoon. Off out now in his old MG for an hour.

Went to lunch with friends and collated the collection of writings from our U3A Creative Writing group which we have got together for printing and - hopefully - sale to members. Lovely sitting out in their garden - makes mine look like the wilderness it is.

Gally Mon 06-May-13 17:03:23

Yes Galen a couple of daft old bats are we wink

Galen Mon 06-May-13 16:57:38

Had a lovely morning at the wildfowl trust.
Now home on my own and I feel very lonely and depressed. Why? I don't know.
Daft old bat!

Gally Mon 06-May-13 16:55:23

A friend took me out for an early birthday lunch; the food was yummy (The Ship Inn at Limekilns) even if the weather was indifferent. wine

Nonu Mon 06-May-13 16:29:21

Had a lovely afternoon at my health club , happy to say the "thrasher" was not there as he drives me nuts , up and down , up and down for about I don"t know how long.

Pretty quiet , so went and sat on decking area and took some rays .

Very civilised .

harrigran; what a pain when that happens. I put some hot water in my blender to clean it the other night after making some cauliflower soup and, even though I had my hand firmly on the top it sprayed all over the kitchen sad.

Marelli Mon 06-May-13 15:42:19

Putting bulbs in. Not a sunny day here in Fife, but pleasant nevertheless. smile

Ariadne Mon 06-May-13 09:09:18

Watching the mist clear and the break through! Another lovely day?
