Technically, Jonumbers' post was not personal, though anyone could be forgiven for thinking it was. I suspect that that's what made the difference if Bluebell said something personal to Jonumbers in response. such a response would come naturally after such a remark in such a place, after all.

So what you need to do, Bluebell, is find a way of saying what you said without it being obviously directed at a particular person.

Jonumbers' comment could, at a stretch, have been referring back to my comment and Movedalot's and not to Gigi's at all. I think that's how she "got away with it". It is rude, you see, but it's not personal. Or, at least, it can get away with being interpreted as not personal.

To reply to your post, MiceElf, no, I didn't think J08's comment was courteous. Neither did I think the two posts which were deleted were courteous. Did you read them? Or does the fact that the guidelines were broken by a poster whose views you agree with absolve them from criticism?

I don't imagine they want it to be a place where people are insulted the first time they post, either. At least give a new poster time to get their feet under the desk before throwing a bucket of cold water over them.

My view is that the 'sick bucket' comment was lacking in courtesy. And that's at its lowest level.

Tell me, do you think that comment was courteous?

Why did they delete the posts which Bluebell made? I have no idea. I don't moderate this forum. But HQ are not infallible.

Why did GNHQ then see fit to delete two of bluebell's posts? And not J08's? Surely it would seem that bluebell's posts transgressed the guidelines?

Sometimes, when there is a very naughty girl in lessons, the teachers allow more leeway to her than to others from whom they expect more.

The analogy may not be completely accurate, but it fits the dynamic.
